What If The Tyranids Invaded Terra? (Ft. Baldermort) - 40K Theories

  • In early M42, the Adeptus Custodes would purge a Genestealer Cult that had somehow managed to take root upon the very surface of Holy Terra. Since Genestealers are the very heralds of the Tyranid race, what could happen if the forces of the Great Devourer chose to launch a full scale invasion against the very heart of the Imperium itself?
    This is an updated and remastered video with additional information and correcting a few minor errors. Please note that the events detailed within the Shadowthrone boxed set will NOT be included in this video.

    First of all, Merry Christmas everyone! And special thanks to Baldermort for narrating this while I'm still dealing with this stupid illness!
    Just to make sure everyone is aware, the intro to this video _may_ be a little outdated, as it was based on lore from the 8th edition Custodes codex as opposed to the new Shadowthrone boxed set (which I do not have). This however should *not* effect the bulk of this video's content.

    I could see a few other factions being involved:
    1. The Orks would sense the titanic clash and be drawn in. They would have to get through the Tyranic fleet to have a prayer to get to the planet, so they would put a lot of pressure on the Tyranid Hive ships.
    2. The Drukari cannot be keen on having the Human empire collapse because there goes a huge chunk of the souls they need to stave off permanent death.
    3. The Demiurg (assuming their advanced ships can get there in time). If all biological life in the Galaxy gets eaten they will have no one to trade with even if they hide from the Tyranids in the void. They may also be keen if they can get the Imperium to agree to a long term treaty with the Tau.
    4. The Word Bearers want humanity "saved", can't do that if they are all eaten. Same for Magnus and the Thousand Sons in some ways, particularly when it comes to human psychers.
    Mars would probably open up the Dark Age of Technology Vaults and unleash the Void Dragon too.

    I feel like a battle like this, of such monumental importance would definitely attract far more involvement from nonhuman factions than the video states. I think multiple craftworlds not just ynniri would be incentivized to join, a couple necron lords would provide at least some support, even the dark eldar would probably do something. There's rogue space marine factions, traders and of course the orks will jump in like the maniacs they are. It's humanity's last stand. Just a few champions of each faction remain inside the Emperor's throne room, fighting thousands of bioforms with whatever remains from the Adeptus Custodes. At this point, they all know It's the end, but they will stand defiant until their last breath.
    Then, out of nowhere, Constantin Valdor appears behind their defensive line and, before anyone can stop or question him, he shoots the Emperor with a single bolt, shattering his torso and breaking the Golden Throne. For a second, silence fills the room, as nobody is capable of saying anything and even the Hive Tirant seems to hesitate for a minute. But in the blink of an eye, the entire room is filled with pure, golden light. The astronomicon shines as a literal star, until the entire structure becomes a beacon of light, firing into the sky and opening a giant whole in the deep clouds that mark the beggining of a Tyranid assimilation of a planet's biomass.
    The webway gate opens, but instead of Demons and other chaos entities, a legion of golden angels flies and with the same voracity as the Tyranid did before them, starts annihilating the forces of the Hive Fleet. More golden beacons spread across the entire world, melting billions of bioforms around them. The last surviving humans watch in shock as the Tyranids are destroyed by an unimaginably stronger opponent, barely understand what their eyes are seeing. But then, all of a sudden, the light in the throne room start moving backwards, concentrating on a sigle point - the Golden Throne. And from that, a giant golden figure finally emerges. At this point, they all know who has saved them, as THE GOD EMPEROR OF MANKIND walks through them, with an arrogant smile, as he prepares his final blow.
    Like some Necron superweapon, all the planetwide beacons converge on the astronomicon, and after what can only be described as a charging phase, a tower of psychic energy is launched at the heart of the Great Leviathan. All psykers in the room screams as billions of Tyranids are incinerated in an instant, a scream that spread across both realspace and the warp alike. A message of hope but also a warning: HUMANITY PREVAILS. As the Tyranid fleet simply ceases to exist, the future of humanity is a bleak as It is hopefull. They lost more than ever during this Solar War, with Mars and Terra being ireparably damaged by the attack. But at the same time they have gained something that no other race has since the War in Heaven, their God walks among them. Will he finally accept his place as a God? Will the concept of "Tech Heresy" Itself vanish once and for all? And in how many twisted and disgusting ways does Chaos plan to counter this new enemy?
    Only one thing is certain: THE EMPEROR PROTECTS.

    This is indeed interesting. Im genuinely curious at what would happen should the kill switch be activated. A god level pyschic blast forced the chaos corruption completely out of Horus even if only for a few moments. What would a planet sized pyschic backlash concentrated by the tyranids do? Completely seal the warp tear on Terra? Make it larger? We do know that the ork latent pyschic link can slaughter millions in a instant. I have a theory that the Emperor's mere presence on Ullanor influenced it to the point of what would become the ork "primarchs" during the War of the Beast. So what would something akin to this in the hive mind particular of the Tyranids do in such a situation? Im calling it here i think GW (or at least someone at GW) had the plan that Terra completely overrun by Tyranids and the activation of the Talisman sent such a pyschic shockwave that it sealed the tear shut, thus allowing the Emperor to be removed from the Golden Throne or at the very least be able to slowly recover his pyschic mind and regenerate. They probably know that if Terra falls and the Emperor dies, Chaos has almost complete free roam of the galaxy and almost, if not all organic life would die and leave none for them to eat. One thing I do wonder with this scenario. Just how "conscious" is the Emperor truly within the Materium?
    Because if he is fully conscious, he might attack the Hive Mind itself and that would be quite the unpredictable possibility. Because if the Emperor can overpower the Hive Mind, the Tyranid fleet is in massive trouble. If not, then what happens to the Emperor?
    Another question is about the Talisman. Say that it gets activated and all life on Terra gets cleansed by a massive psychic attack by the massively amplified Golden Throne. Well, where goes the energy of all those souls? Seeing as we are talking about the Emperor, I kinda doubt that they would go to the warp. Could it be that those souls would be used by the Emperor, to then seal the warp rift, die because the Golden Throne fails because of this process and then the Emperor regenerates on a now barren Terra?

    Wouldn't the Shadow in the Warp also wreak havoc on the Imperium's attempts to reinforce Terra? The Shadow doesn't just affect basic Psychers, but also Astropaths and Navigators, which would render Warp travel into Sol nearly impossible. How could Terra be reinforced if no one could get there...or perhaps, not even be alerted in the first place?

    • @attemptedunkindness3632
      @attemptedunkindness3632 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not impossible to navigate to Terra and even use the kthonic gates, if the Tau can do it without Psykers and geller fields, I suspect more than a few Imperial forces would be able to show up to investigate who turned the light out.

    • @minhducnguyen9276
      @minhducnguyen9276 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact that Terra suddenly turned silent alon is a serious enough warning. How do they plan to travel there? Well however they can. It's possible to do short warp jumps without the astromonicon, that's how the Tau and human used to travel before the emperor, it's just very slow as the ships will have to stop in realspace to recalculate their coordinate instead of continuously traveling like they used to. At that point, any fastest means of travel possible will be considered, even selling a few planets to the eldar so they can give you the ticket through their more stable webway is worth it. They are incentivized to help at that point anyway, if humanity die to the nids, they will be the next.

    • @lolroflroflcakes
      @lolroflroflcakes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think your underestimating the power of the Emperor. Consider that took a galaxy spanning warpstorm to decommission the astronomicon for any length of time. Now consider that the shadow has been relatively limited on a galactic scale for even the biggest fleets. Sometimes you can even get ships or messages through at great cost.
      If normal people can do it then the astronomicon will probably only show some variation in its normal function. Even if communication are disrupted because astropaths suck you've still got the admechs tech wizardry and mars definitely has FTL communication capability even if they don't understand it. Also the astronomicon getting weird is probably abit better than a garbled or techno-sorcerous message anyway. One would have them wary and uncertain, the other is direct evidence of an attack on the thing holding their civilization together. They would kick in the front door with maximum force looking for a fight instead of trying to recon the situation.

      Honestly i really dont know if any of them would be able to spare a single bolter round if they wanted to pending a direct nid invasion. As long as the munitions are going twards the nid fleet/invasion this would likely fall on the fact every imperial knows, the entierty of everything they know, rests on the nids not winning. even if every invader turned their weapons on the imperials that showed up, it would still be a far lesser threat than the nids would pose.
      Its not like the nids are going to be working with any of the xenos, they are all nothing more than biomass waiting to be claimed. And any xenos that goes anywhere near this conflict knows that they are a target of the nids. And as outlined by several others, Imperial fall here, the possibility of the emperor being consumed, is endgame for the galaxy. They are already well aware that if the hive attacked any of them, its game over for them, without this power up.
      So while i am sure the imperials would want to fire at them, i think they are all well keen on the knowing that, tera alone isnt likely enough to stop this, and even if it was, there is no resource to fight a multi pronged conflict.

    I think it's worth mentioning that instances where the nids have had to confront any two other factions at once have consistently ended horribly for them. Especially if the two forces tag each other in and out to keep rested between turns at fighting. This happens because while Bio-adaptation and new Bioform deployment occur at a speed which makes evolution look like a snail's pace, it is still nowhere near fast enough to accommodate rapid switches in the entire frame of what they need to be adapting to in order to overcome the foe currently attacking them. The closest the nids have come to being able to handle a double faction team up is that hive fleet Kronos is already pre-adapted to fight Chaos if another Kaband'ha situation goes down.
    It's actually a sign of the grimmdark in of itself, all it would take to completely nullify the Tyranid threat would be for two of the pre-existing factions to agree to work together and tackle the nids as a unified front, but they're all completely incapable of doing that for much longer than a temporary truce to route a particular nid advance on a specific world.

    Thank you for this great Kick Ass story. I really enjoyed it. While my favorite chapter (Dark Angels) don't normally face them. I've read the novels involving the Blood Angels and Ultramarine's battling them. So this story makes me feel like it a "All hands on deck" alert to all of the Imperium for any and all reinforcements to come help. Even then victory is in question.

    It would literally be a mass clusterfuck of Xenos and the Imperiums defenders fighting it out on Terra. In the skies of Terra. The space around Terra. In the Sol System and beyond. An absolute carnal battle.
    Edit: Listening to the commentary. I can just imagine an Armageddon scale battle for Terra on multiple tables. One in the Emperor's throne room. The streets of Terra. Outside of the Imperial Palace.

    My Personal Fan Theory involved the Andromeda galaxy (closest galaxy to the Milky Way). The Emperor, in his great wisdom, knew of the Tyranid, and sent 1 or 2 of the twenty original Primarchs, most of their Legions with Imperial Guard and Martian support fleets, to the nearby galaxy to blunt and slow down the Tyranid invasion that he foresaw would inevitably come. The distance is so vast it makes sense that just now, the main force of Nids is approaching the outer fringes. The Legions and brave human warriors held as long as they could, entire generations of warriors growing up fighting and dying in the Andromeda galaxy and the void between that and the Milky Way. Settlements and small kingdoms were established on planets that were not ravaged and barren. But 1 or perhaps both unknown Legions and Billions of Guard/Skitarii were still not enough to stop the immense amount of forces that had grown out of control, only delay and distract. The Legions may (if not destroyed entirely) return to the Imperium, all but spent in strength, to warn those that have been ignorant to the scale of the threat.

    I can see the Drukhari taking advantage of such an invasion of Terra to get some new play toys.

    I think the only way terra would get attacked is if Rogal Dorn returns are GW wants to release a Tyranid Vs Imperial Fists box.

    The answer here is 'literally every concern in the Imperium is secondary.' How many forces? Yes. All of them.
    Quadrillions of guardsmen, 2 million astartes, shit I bet *ABADDON* would show up just because he won't have his prize taken by some beast. Literally enough Guardsman to have TERRA be standing room only. Ghazkull would show too for a great ol scrap. The Ynnari would come too. Fuck it's almost the only scenario in which most of the Galaxy would be in alliance, between not wanting Terra to fall, and not wanting Terra to fall to anyone else.
    It'd be the most apocalyptic conflict in galactic history.

    Emperors advisor: Emperor, holy terra is under siege we need reinforcements.
    The Emperor: Call the space marines
    Emperors advisor: Which chapter?
    The emperor: ALL OF THEM.

    With the Emperor being awake enough to burn Nurgle’s Garden to the ground, he may be able to psychically bitch slap the Hive Mind before the Tyranids consume him.

    A thought I had considering tyranids is that they may develop telescope like structures to find planets that are able to sustain life like astromers do in real life. The hive fleet being in space would be able to search unobstructed by the light scattering of an atmosphere and the wast distances over which the hive ships can communicate with each other could allow them a stunning resolution.
