Fun fact: The music from the first game is actually ripped from a Capcom-developed SNES game called Bonkers, based on the cartoon of the same name from the 'Disney Afternoon' block back in the 90s. It was a pretty solid game with some great music, though I'm not sure why the bootlegger choose that of all things for the Pikachu game.
I don't know about Moemon specifically but back in the day it wasn't uncommon to come across cartridges in like markets and second hand stores that looked legit but actually had romhacks on them, so while they're not specifically bootlegs in themselves they were being bootlegged by definition. Nowadays you can find stuff like that on Etsy that are at least upfront about them being romhacks but I guess they'd technically still be bootleg merchandise.
@zelg.5551 there is a vast difference between a printed doujin of characters that's understood to not be official and is small enough for the liscense holders to look the other way, and an illegally printed cartridge made for a console containing a (usually) free fan made hack being sold as "official". Even if you and I know they are fake, they weren't being sold as such.
The Lavender Town thing is just an old creepy pasta that was loosely based on how the first (and last) episode of Pokemon featuring Porygon caused children in Japan to suffer from epileptic seizures due to rapidly flashing lights. Porygon and its evolution line haven't appeared in the anime since that episode (even though Pikachu's the one who caused the flashing effect by using an electric attack on missiles). Lavender Town Syndrome (as the creepy pasta is officially titled) has been debunked on multiple occasions by multiple people due to how every time it's brought up, people believe it to be true even though Pokemon would have been banned, Gamefreak probably disbanded with some of its employees facing charges and Nintendo sued to hell and back and the whole thing making headlines pretty much every where. TLDR; Lavender Town can't hurt you, it was just a creepy pasta. :)

I had "Diamond" on an emulater my dad downloaded as a kid. It wouldn't save the game, so one day I just spent the entire God damn day just going as far as I could, lmao.

The reason Nintendo doesn't go after the showcased bootleg games is unlike PalWorld they bomb as successes. JonTron also left out the lewd bootleg Pokemon games out there with a more adult audience theme to them. As for my favorite Pokemon I have to go with Mewtwo and Gradevoir a close second.
