You know Diamond is a hellscape when the Hog player is the chill tank...
most hog players I saw are pretty chill lol,, at the same time, a lot are also playing for themselves rather than actively working as a team. Maybe that's why they usually chill. It's the idgaf attitude.
Around 2800 on console, my experience with Hog players is that they are typically level-headed and realistic. They are on Hog because it’s a good way to carry and not die. They play carefully and conservatively. They always know where their teammates are positioned and are willing to play together but also willing to go it alone if necessary and go for risky picks.
And they’re at a point in their overwatch careers where they’ve accepted that they have to do the work themselves, lol. I like them a lot. If you notice a good Hog on your team, just pay attention to their plays and do your best to follow up and support them. They’ll play more aggressively if they notice you have their back.
Probably more of a plat-diamond thing. This playstyle is team aware and fairly coordinated but also used to noncooperation. A little bit lone-wolf.

I've seen this EXACT GAME so many times lmao
- One tank malding at the team, usually a ball or a zarya
- The other tank not being nearly as toxic
- Ana player with useful comms and actually playing the game
- Dps and mercy just vibing (and carrying)

Especially true with the ball just refusing to comprehend that he, the literal sphere of boops, could potentially engage in a position where his team can follow up on his boop+slams. Seriously, a boop+slam+dynamite+hook combo can wipe a team.

I never had a game where the dps are chilled. They will be the first to start swear and using slur then one of the tank will join in
The duality of tank players is actually insane
One thing I learned is when someone is toxic like this it is best to just not engage with them, they obviously want to start something and just because they aren't playing good they want to act like it's their team's fault so they don't feel so bad about it. Just completely ignoring them won't necessarily make them less toxic but it means you won't have to deal with playing the game alongside being in an argument in voice chat/text chat

As a diamond tank now, nothing was more toxic than gold players who think they should be gm. Honestly this diamond was annoying, but if you ever want to find a real shit show, that's where it is. You'll never hear more toxicity than if you play ball, widow, lucio, zen, or shieldless. Unless you hold them to first or get 20 plus solo kills on the first point, you might as well leave voice immediately.
Zen and Lucio picks are cap. Once you get in Masters or higher Zen is common as shit. Lucio is also super powerful for Dive/Rush
God don't even get me started on playing Zen in Gold. You'll even get picked on by the other supports, even if you're putting in the same amount of work they are.
Oh, and if one of your tanks happens to be a Hog? Just mute everything, because no matter if they're right or not, they'll always flame you in chat. Gold Hogs are OBNOXIOUS.

That's an outstanding revelation... but honestly it's about 70/30 sometimes the team just isn't working. Some nights it's just rough.

This kind of person is why I disable all voice and text chat nowadays, I can't keep playing for long because they irritate me too much otherwise.

it's the typical flamer syndrome. Tunnel visions only on what they see and want to do, has no regard for what goes on from everyone else's pov, desperately needs to find reason for why their own gameplay isn't working out and tends to throw that reason onto their fellow players for not telepathically understanding their plans.
I recently had a game as Pharah, was playing vs double hitscan (u can imagine who was the first to receive blame XD). Regardless, I was up 5-0 against their Widowmaker and the Soldier's positioning was dogshit so I had no trouble avoiding him. Yet as soon as we lose 1st point our Zarya just goes off in chat and shouts at me that I should swap off Pharah because the enemy has a Widow and accuse me of being suppressed by the double hitscan duo. Meanwhile he himself fed his ass off on Zarya and got back from spawn 3 times while I was holding the frontline with our Rein and Mercy all on our own the entire time, I hadn't died a single time yet the Zarya was hellbent that the Widow was hard countering me XD
Players are so fucking funny. Imagine how great this is, getting to play a competitive game and listen to comedy gold at the same time, what a deal!
that's really mild actually. I got told to end myself several times in quick play yesterday. In different games by different people.

Toxicity at this point of the game’s life is just really funny. Like, we’re a week away from the game literally being dead. The team’s just gonna laugh at you for pulling this shit and treat you like a clown.
Recently had a game in plat where the enemy genji threw himself off the map for an entire round because he was complaining about Zen/Lucio heal comp. “Brainless plats” and “gg go next” 45 seconds into the game. Meanwhile they had a decent dive comp and probably could’ve won if the guy tried.
Both teams flamed him enough for him to start trying second round. Then we flamed him harder because we realized he was actually dogwater. Like, 5v7 bad. Dashed into our entire team 4 separate times, whiffed more times with his ult than hit, was missing a stationary hog, and deflected like 25 bullets max the entire round.
Proceed to his excuse being no Mercy pocket/nano and healers were still brainless for not picking Ana. We proceeded to flame him harder.
I am going to report these toxic kids in OW2 for sure. I am honestly so done with bad players complaining in VC or chat lol, just shut the fuck up and get better
I play GM Tank and healer. But play diamond on dps. I will tell you right now. Diamond players are big babies. They make mistakes which is fine but when you call them out on it so they can learn, they get pissy and throw instantly. In all honesty even at higher ranks I make mistakes but even saying one word will trigger diamonds, it’s insane, can’t imagine lower Elos
As a Ball main and as a feeder if a teamate says I'm going in too deep I listen
Usually we ball mains are the ones who get bullied. No one really thinks ball mains are good

The exchange between the hog and ball kinda reminds of an exchange I had with a winston player after I suggested that he switch cause he was kinda getting rolled by the reaper tracer and he asked why I said reaper kinda counters you and he thought that I was joking and I had to explain that winstons hit box made it so that shotgun characters I.e. reaper had an easier time landing all their pellets on him.
My man didn’t believe me and proceeded to get rolled every time he dived high ground on first point dorado then eventually switched lol
It's best just to let people pick what they want and not suggest heros unless they ask.
Sometimes it's hard to understand the fine line between the need to switch and the fact that most tanks share a common weakness like reaper, sombra or a good tracer. I mean even some of the supports like Zen and Ana can ruin a tanks day. Now playing ball and complaining about not getting picks is just silly, that's literally balls job is to jump low hp and separated supports

Like taking some things he did, try them out for myself and maybe corporate them in my playstyle. I think thats totally fine. You can learn a little bit from any good player even if it would be someone not high ranked. English is not my native language but i hope i could clear it up a little bit :)

I had this experience for one of my first 10 games of ow in 2021. I nanoed a Rein and instead of demolishing the enemy team with his shatter, he walked up to me and shook his head wasting the Nano. Then I got scolded by the rest of the team and told "always nano the dps". I dunno what sr I was at but damn.
That rein was just outright throwing.
I play platinum on god damn CONSOLE and even then it's not that absurd.
while that rein wasting nano is just stupid as shit, it is typically better to nano someone who can consistently get better value. Lots of the time, teams will just disengage from rein if he doesnt have speed boost as he doesnt have any reliable way close that space otherwise. Nano-ing rein is good if you have a decent lucio, or after he hits shatter/zarya gravs/mei freezes/etc. Basically anything that allows rein to actually get in and swing. If he cant swing or isnt in need of it to survive, its better off going to someone else.
I just realized the Kiriko's Protection Suzu is going to be able to wake up friendly BOBs!!!

I was in a Plat support game yesterday and since my team didn't have any real counters to any ults like grav or visor I went zen for trans and my mercy got mad at me bc my ult can't counter an entire team focusing 1 person with ults. Craziest part was i had 9k heals(gold) 3rd point on Blizzard World and our hog had silver(according to him it was like 6k)

This is an actual Overwatch classic. 1 Player (eiter playing ball/doom/zarya/hog) starts the game/round of being rly toxic and when a dps or the other tank makes one mistake he mercilessly flames them. Then, when they carry the man goes radio silent. Like... BRUH Lets hope ow2 is better in that department, but I doubt it :/

I had one player being so toxic and shit talking all of us on his team because he thinks being in Diamond for the last 2 seasons means he's ascended to Godliness or something. Most of us had been sitting around Plat since S1 or 2 and this idiot's only recently climbed out of Silver/low Gold.
Sometimes there's nothing you can do but mute, report, and move on. There's no helping some players.
I got matched with a masters tank as high plat tank myself and the masters tank actually threw the match in a similar way to this guy in the video, this happened yesterday.

No reason to get toxic and throw matches just because OW1 is getting shut down (honestly it's depressing, because in 2017 I often wondered what it was going to be like the day OW1 shut down since it was one of the first MP games I actually grew to like, the other being Halo. I want to get better but I feel as though I've either stagnated on learning the game or have hit my ceiling
5v5 will be very different so you got that to improve on
The ceiling is mental. You'll only go as high or as low as you let yourself get. Each rank shares a mindset, but mechanics or methods when solo should vary. Unless you're a dps/tank god don't try to carry every game, don't be a beta, but also be willing to give the spotlight to a teammate by supporting pushes or covering retreats etc.
I don't think you have reached that yet.But like other things in live the better you get the harder to improve it gets. I've been a diamond player for a whole year I made it to master like 3 days ago.

Ball mains are either the most chill or the most toxic people ever and theres no in between.
On one hand when im playing Ana and my Ball always comes to stop by after an engagement for heals and thanks me, and on the other hand theres a ball that screams at me for not healing them across the map when hes deep into the enemy line.
@@TSGC16 the worst is when they scream about damage numbers when they just roll through, slam, and run away. Most of the time never comboing with anyone and playing pretty much the most survivable hero in the game.
They also typically never provide any protection because balls sole ability to protect his team is to force the enemy team to fight him but that doesn't always work out too well.
Not all are toxic af of course but balls playstyle brings out the toxicity in some people.

Had a game a few days before OW ended and the insta lock hog was mad at the DPS for double sniper+ mercy bap. They said the phrase "i was on point" and i saw 3 people leave chat immediately

3. Play a game as best you can

im always between plat and diamond and i can say they are the worst ranks when it comes to toxicity bc ppl are still pretty average at the game but they have an ego because theyre above gold so they never own their mistakes and blame everything on their teammates
In my experience nothing is more toxic then 3000sr, it’s full of nothing but average players who think they’re the shit because they either just peaked at the first slightly above average rank or in general are salty about not being able to maintain diamond.

If you're gonna play tank you need to know what you're doing. The tank imo is the hardest class to play only because it the easiest to feed with if you don't know what you're doing. Most of the damage and even most supports can just sit back and deal it out but most tanks need to be in the enemy teams face.
As a Diamond player I can confirm that this is the most toxic rank I've played in

I don't even know what I'm playing most sessions. I create content but dude this is not Overwatch this is Fortwatch of Duty Impact. All these newbs who are mechanical gods coming over from COD and Apex have zero game sense. Very frustrating, because like OW1 this game has a massive years long learning curve to even begin to call yourself good at the game.

How do you know you know what you're doing if you're not climbing. The enemy team was pushing the cart, you guys were getting pushed back. You said "We're playing really good."
Because I'm not diamond or GM I can only take your word. There's no official uniform way to play Overwatch and with groups of people who all have a different idea of how to secure the objective how does any other this make sense.
