I really enjoyed watching some real craftsmanship going on over there. I got Mopars but I love a '55 chevy! Well done. I loved seeing the little guy helping out. Teach him well. Hats off to you California guys.
I really appreciate the compliment, I had a ‘57 when I was 19. Marriage, kids, life took over. I finally found myself in the position to take on a project like this , with enough skill acquired from working. By all means I’m no fabricator like say Japhands is, this project (at least the sheet metal part of it) has been challenging. I’m trying to find the time to get back to working on it, I’ve been slammed at work and I’ve been finding myself writing music with my spare time. Thanks again!
The car was in very good shape, glad it had no carpet left in it while it sat for years. Only terrible rust spot is that a pillar which I’ll get to. Thank you very much
I agree with the other comments that the floors are in good shape. I had to replace floors in my 57 in 1968 ( before they reproduced them) and they were pretty rusted out. Some of the 210s and 150s came out with rubber floor mats from the factory and they were a nightmare when it came to rusting the floors out. They would hold moisture in and cause a lot of damage. A lot of owners would wash them out with the water hose back then which didn’t help matters. The ones with carpet floors lasted a lot longer because the moisture could evaporate. Good job on the door deletes. 👍
All in all the car was in very good shape, all interior was removed as it sat, no carpet or headliner. I’m sure that aided in slowing the rust. Thanks about the door deletes, one side is gonna need a bit more fitting to the door. Thanks for watching!

Not to be critical, as you were, but rot is deterioration of organic material. Rust would be the deterioration of metal which is inorganic material. Sometimes rot can get congested in the drains and gutters and hold water and moisture causing rust. That is why it’s important to keep your factory automobile gutters and drains clean.
