You could leave it a 3 door. Take it on power tour and see how long until someone notices. In all reality, really cool, Dan. You make it LOOK easy. Peace.
I didn't know this was a thing. I've always wanted a 2dr. I literally stumbled on this video last week, and immediately made a deal while watching the video to buy my buddies 55 4dr.
It would be funny to make one with 1 door on the driver's side and 2 doors on the passengers side just to see how many people notice it when you are out driving around or at a car show.
I love your videos because we approach projects the same way - start with a vision in your head and then figure out how to make it a reality piece by piece. The greatest motivator for me is when I tell someone what I want to do and they tell me it can't be done. I've given up on using a floor jack for removing and installing doors. Now I use a pair of ratchet straps either wrapped around the roof or over a ceiling joist.. Having one at the front and one at the rear makes it easy to get the door perfectly level.
Dan is the absolute master at this. I don't always agree with his methods but he IS a real champion at getting things done. He has a fantastic and impressive collection of cars. Well done.
Having the post from the 2 door makes the fit and finish of that gap look so good. Think I would just do a fog of John Deere implement yellow on the whole thing, get it running right and beat it like no tomorrow
Had to come back to my first DD Speed Shop video that appeared when looking at something entirely different in the automotive world. Wow time goes fast and how you have evolved in such a short amount of time! Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us.
Nice work Dan you've become the guru of 4 ta 2 conversions on TH-cam this does look a little better or is it just my bias be careful and stay safe my friends God love ya both.
This was a nice presentation covering the basics. I’m sure anybody that cares more for a finished product will take more pains to position and weld to look more professional.
Those young kiddos made my day seeing this. Thier joy and excitement made me remember how i was the same way and mixed with Dans Cool demeanor its awesome!! You can tell hes your "cool nieghbor" Makes me hopeful for these younger generations im glad they are into cars. I remember when I was young and my father had a 69 Falcon BBF 390 and the neighbor across the street had a Iroc and a Boss 427 mustang. I memorized as many cars as i could and to this day can name makes, models and usually get them right or within a few years. I wonder if this would be possible on a 4 door falcon. If I find one for a good price I might have to have Dan work some magic for me. Love the video!!
I get really excited when you get one of these 4 door to 2 door conversion. I love how you do these transformation. It's almost like you have a whole fleet of transformers because they are more than meets the eye 😅😂 . Keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your families.
you really love to convert tri five chevys into two doors from four doors haven't seen you so happy in a while you are probably the fastest at converting for to two in Canada
Dan, you are truly The Zip Disc master! You make it look too easy. The 56 was sweet to begin with and will be killer when the conversion is done. That was the car everyone wanted when I was a teenager (long ago, in the last century). 😂😂
One of the things that cracks me up. I watch Dan's content, and he is always turning 4 doors into two doors. Then when I shift over to the diesel truck content I watch, those dudes are turning 2 doors into 4 doors ( crew cabs ). hahaha hysterical.
Thank u for conversion 4 door video have a 4 door from my dad me and my 16 year old grandson have drug it home to my shop never thought about doing this project start now great gift for my grandson with great grandfathers car and grandfaters help I'm a retired metal fabricator so well within my wheel house thank u so much and really enjoy u and Danny love her channel also
Dan the floor pan man the way you work is the way most of us work that's perfect to show people can do in a two car garage. That's the whole idea. Great stuff.
Dan, When you had the yellow door skin over the Pontiac upper sheet (where the back doors used to be) instead of marking a line to find where you’re cutting, just cut a straight line through the yellow door skin AND the Pontiac sheet at the same time. Perfect line every time because you cut them together.
I also spend my days finding ways to criticize the way people do things. I find it highly effective when their actions couldn’t possibly effect me in any way. Time well spent imo
I've heard you call the things you do a "hack job" but from my point of view you do things that other people don't have the confidence to do. As for me I would have never thought of making a two door out of a four door......if I had only known it could be that simple I would have done it YEARS ago and not passed on so many 4 doors that such potential. I like what you do! Keep it up!
Once again an awesome job. I'm not planning on doing any 4 to 2 door conversions anytime soon but I am replacing lower quarters and floors on my 57 Ford 2 door coupe. Watching you gives me a boost in confidence when doing the job!
I started watching this channel when you were working on Danny's car then I watched you do the white 56 you got rid òf then the black widow but so far this one I think is the best because of having the right post I never seen you do your 55 I would have loved to seen that one. Your doing a great job on it Dan. If I can just find a really solid 55 I don't care if it's a 2 door or 4 door I just don't want to start with a rust bucket.
Nothing is nicer than a Canadian 2ish door Pontolet. I enjoy these videos likely because so many 50s/60s American sedans were still on the road in my youth. I used to look at them (like the 49-51 Fords etc.) and think as a kid I knew a secret that the drs and 4drs where basically the same bodies and someone with the talent could 'fix' the 4 doors and make them cool. years later it looks like I was right...but it really wasn't a secret!
I’d definitely take the extra time to make that rear window functional if not running ac in the car it’s way to hot in Louisiana to not have windows that work
I love watching you do these conversions. Probably not your style but it be cool to see your take on making your own crew cab truck someday, maybe starting with a couple regular cabs.
Dan, Great job! Two thumbs up! You are the kind of guy who gets things done in the shop and in life. I worry about details so much that it impedes my success. Watching how you GET THINGS DONE is going to help me reach higher goals. Thanks for the life lesson. - Johnpaul in Baltimore.
I'm so into this, but it brought back memories of a friend I had. Died from COVID-19. He was a super body worker , and race drag strip his ride 63 nova supped up. Never drank, never drugs, just got sick and pass away and young too. I don't understand why. Yeah COVID but didn't pull thru. R.i.p Bob.
Great work on this. I have seen a couple of tri-fives that the owner actually cut the body and shortened it. It never looked right to me. I never knew that the conversion could have gone so much easier than the examples I have seen. Thanks for showing this.
How many years ago before you were a famous TH-camr was it you asked me about 2 door conversions lol now your the 2 door conversion king lol funny world we live in 😎👍
Wow, I've heard of it being done, but I've never seen it done. Wow, great job, man, I'm going to have to find me a station wagon. And do that with thank you, man.😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hey Dan, I wish you wouldn't put yourself down. By this I mean when you say, " like a DD Speed Shop hack". I would be proud to own any of the cars you put together. I've been watching you now for over 2 years and watched you work on plenty of your cars. Also, wish you would drive the 47 Chevy a little more often. Love your channel and videos. Take care and be safe.

I like what you're doing and I hope you keep working on the cars.i have bad news I have prostate cancer and I can't do anything about it so I keep watching for now😢
Take it to the next level! DD Speed Shop trifive 4 door to 2 door conversion kit! Have a panel that replicates what you just made! Great video Dan thanks
Did not know this was possible, 57 Bel Air hardtop is my dream car but is well out of my range. Seeing this lets me know I could alway settle on a nicely rodded 150/210 four to two door conversion….
I like the 56!!... I had one years ago purple with cragars 2 Door ,283 with 4 speed . This is how i started watching when you converted 4 to 2 Door video early 2019.

Me too.
Must be a common thought. I did too.
Absolutely awesome
That's remarkable! Esp grabbing the Pontiac side - wow wee!!
Dan has done more 4 door to 2 door conversions than anyone else. Definitely more than anyone in the last two /three years
You still got the touch! Looks great! This a favorite part of what you do to tri-5s.
Yup
And they make some entertaining video's.
Hi Dan the man you make it so easy mate looking great mate
He’s the expert. I’ve seen other TH-cam conversion videos where they are referencing DD speed shop.
I didn't know this was a thing. I've always wanted a 2dr. I literally stumbled on this video last week, and immediately made a deal while watching the video to buy my buddies 55 4dr.
I’d stop right there and in TRUE DD Speed Shop fashion, the one and only Three door 55 Sedan Suburban!
It would be funny to make one with 1 door on the driver's side and 2 doors on the passengers side just to see how many people notice it when you are out driving around or at a car show.
Put a 55 front fender on one side and a 57 on the other
One piece at a time
Now I'm up for messing with people's minds. Your ideas are my kind of craziness.
Mike smith are you in south Carolina and if so jonny gold car lol
How much to pay some one to do this job ? $$$
Haven't watched a whole video for awhile.But I watched this one .
Great job.
Dan, you’re famous on the internet for making this Tri-five conversion. Keep on doin what you’re doing!
I hope this new rod gets a cool paint job, some Craiger keystone rims, chromed out engine and fixed up interior.
Your vision and inginuity is just freaking amazing. I can't wait to see the end result on that little car.
Hey thanks!
🗿yep👍💯
Dan, you make this conversion look easy. Until I started watching, I didn't know this was possible. Rock on Dan.
It has been a while since you showed us how to do a 4 door to 2 door conversion. This is classic DD Speed Shop content!
🗿 absolutely 👍👍

Thanks for the like Dan
Dan is the absolute master at this. I don't always agree with his methods but he IS a real champion at getting things done. He has a fantastic and impressive collection of cars. Well done.
I’ve done 2 of these conversions using pontiac parts, it’s pretty satisfying to stand back and see the new form they take on.
Love this !! You're keeping tri-fives alive and making them look ," more desirable ", at the same time. 🤗

Always good seeing Dan building a 2 door. I like it
You're my hero, Dan. You have a ton of energy and I sure enjoy it.
Haha DD! I get it now. How hard would a 66 Chevelle 4 to 2 door conversion be?
Id lov to see him do this 👍😁
We know ya can Dan 👍🇺🇸
It may be possible. The 2 door and sedan ride on the same wheelbase. Look at DD's videos on converting a 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne 4dr into a 2door.
I bet a post car could be converted
Saw a Chevy ii post that was done .
It is amazing how quick you are at making a 4 door into a 2 door. Long live tri-5 Chevy's.
Wow what a craftsman. Really like the way you taught this whole process. Very interesting
