The scenes showing the Tardis arriving on Castrovalva and the Doctor & companions walking back at the end were all shot on the same day. Matthew Waterhouse (Adric) has been out partying the evening before and arrived on set hungover. The final scenes, with the Doctor asking Tegan and Nyssa who flew the Tardis, were filmed as Waterhouse was vomiting behind a tree.
0:11 and 2:14 - looks like they used a BBC Micro in Mode 7, but not sure how they got the orangey-gold background on the white text, unless it was an orange monochrome monitor. Any ideas from vintage computer fans?
TH-cam uses a distributed database for comments and your app or browser gets message counts, messages, likes, dislikes and views from different versions of the database. After a short while the changes get synchronised and all copies have a more up-to-date view of the data. Imagine shouting "I want to know the number of messages, number of likes and the text of all the messages". One person shouts back "2 messages", another shouts back "6 likes" and a third says "first". After that person 1, 2 and 3 update each other on the data so when you shout again you get more accurate data. On a video getting lots of comments you wouldn't notice the disparities but on one getting very few you do.
Adric must've wished that he could punch the Master in the nose for capturing him and making him obey his commands while trying to get rid of the Doctor. Shame that Adnic or any other companion of the Doctor didn't get to do that.
Republic of Ireland. Any time wouldn’t matter to me in the slightest as I’ve never actually set foot in the republic. Newcastle is as far as I’ve been.
I would be intrigued to know whether it would have been possible for a Castrovalvan to exist after the town had collapsed in on itself? As they were escaping, the Doctor asks Mergrave to come with them. Had he escaped would he also have ceased to exist? Did any Castrovalvans also manage to escape or were any outside of the town when it collapsed? 🤔
Can we all just admit…”Classic” Who is a far cry in terms of acting and writing from current Who. I’m of course not including the Chibnall fiasco, who’s acting and writing might be worse then Classic Who.
“ That's it. We need to take him somewhere uncomplicated. Somewhere away from technology. “ “ Closer boy ... I must see him, HEAR HIM! no. No! So Doctor, you have survived. But at what cost I wonder. “ “ So, this air hostess person's flying it eh? Well I wish her the best of luck. “ “ Touchdown! We've made it. We've made it! “

There's an old saying: "Any landing you can walk away from is a good one". It makes more sense if you consider the alternatives.
And a great landing is one where they can re-use the plane.
Yes , well......care for a jelly baby ?
That statement could apply to the airplane landing on the Hudson River in 2009. 😉

I love how much extra TARDIS interior we saw in Logopolis and Castrovalva.
Good to see classic Doctor Who in HD (as the external scenes were recorded using 16mm Film). GLORIOUS!!!!

at the cost of losing at his gas bill
I loved Teagan! She was such a fun companion ... didn't take crap from anyone!
I kinda wish she'd been paired with 6!

"When the Tardis is on manual you can't be sure of anything" That about sums up the whole of Doctor Who, period.

Pigs in space!
Castrovalva is a beautiful but simple if complex drawing by M. C. Escher of a real location (on Earth).

Hi Doug: I came to make this comment. Thanks for the extra info, never knew it was based on a real Italian town!
Just had a look on Maps and discovered there’s a road in Castrovalva called ‘Via Escher’. No Via Dr Who though :-)
Old is gold.
I suspect the TARDIS was actually flying itself in order to protect the Doctor. ❤️
Telepathic circuits.
Adric programmed the TARDIS to land on Castrovalva while he was under the Master's control.
I love Castrovalva! A great debut story for a great Doctor.
Nyssa & Tegan are very good taking care of the Doctor who is in a lot pain in his head, but I hope he recovers.
"A landing is a landing !"
…Yeah…Right !
🤣🤣🤣
That coming from an airline cabin-crew member. If this was a jet plane Tegan would not be as nonchalant about a jet crash landing.
I misread the title as “Castlevania Crash Landing” XD what a crossover that would’ve been 😂
One a ha ha ha. Two a ha ha ha...
Adria, Nyssa, and Tegan my favorite companions from classic who
3:49 that’s actually shada Tardis that they modified to look like the 80s Tardis
I love Tegan 😂
This is basically Doctor Who’s version of “Another happy landing!” 😂
Sometimes the regenerations can go wrong and make The Doctor feel unwell.
Never seen this or I was so smashed as the script/ producer was to make this that it doesn't matter 😁
"Any Landing YOU can walk away from..."
Is another happy landing... 😁😉
"Castrovalva"
It's only a model
It's ok the Australian has the wheel.
Would love to see the doctor teach a companion to fly the tardis, like when 10 taught donna briefly and at the end of journeys end.
"Flying a bit too close to the 1980s"
"What am I gonna do, put a dent in em?"
"Well somebody did"

Agreed!
I've literally just been watching Castrovalva on DVD 😄
Adric just can't catch a break, can he?

theres colour control codes in the teletext system, cant remember 100% if you can set background colour but think so,

tardis: no but I Always took you where you needed to go
She didn't do too bad for a first time TARDIS pilot.
So, the TARDIS has CEEFAX.
It was really handy the TARDIS got a good enough signal to get Ceefax.
Ah yes the Tardis explaining regeneration wonder where that is in the new series.
IF only the new companions had known to type "IF".

Question for everyone if you had a tardis where and when would you go back to and why?
I'd go see my dead best friend again. Because he was the only good thing that happened to me
Hmm good question young man. I'd probebly go back to 1986 chernobyl pripyat but before the accident. Just to see how it was before.
Republic of Ireland. Any time wouldn’t matter to me in the slightest as I’ve never actually set foot in the republic. Newcastle is as far as I’ve been.
Anywhere. I'd simply just let everything happen and then find my way around
1960’s Carnaby Street, swinging London, see the Beatles, etc. maybe watch a classic episode of…..what’s that show called again? Lol

Great
I think the best New Doctor story is Matt Smith's debut in "The Eleventh Hour"!
This looks like it's from the 60s.
It's from the 80s
Took this team a bit to find it's way, and yes, any landing one walks away from is a good one.

Not up to TAA standard, still better than Queentas.

The acting is fine, Chibnall's just an awful writer. The cast can only do so much with the material given.
