I got mine to work. I have a manual transmission, at first I did not trim anything and yes the fitment is not good at all, the thick weld was the reason the tank may leak. It went in but I didn't feel tthe "Click" my friend helped me push while I supported from the bottom, at first test drive it seemed to hold up but the day after (Hot and Cold temps) I can see a wet patch the drip wasn't big but it's not suppose to drip/leak.
The way I got mine working was to trim the Mishimoto Tank hand welded area which is the side that connects to the plastic L plate (the side that has the hook on the top area of the tank to hook on the backplate), if you look carefully this L plate can be unclipped for better trimming. Take a Dremel Tool metal cutter bit and trim away a bit of the hand weld (it's just too buldgey). If you take the L plate off (it's the piece with the Blue Tip drain plug) this piece comes off with a flat head screw driver pry on the top clip which clips it in place once this piece is out you can fine tune your trimming with ease, I did also trim the plastic bit look carefully and you can see two thick plastic line for support just trim off 2mm with file. My Mishimoto tank came with O-rings which is the correct size. if yours didn't you would need to replace the small o-ring with this size ID= Internal Diameter 22mm, OD= Outter Diameter 29mm, Line Diameter 3.5 or 4.0mm, ID and OD try and stay 1mm less is OK. The Big O-ring can be taken from the original expansion tank make sure you clean it first. That's it, it's been on for 2 days now and holding up well. If you're fixing your own car this is not difficult at all. I'll keep you posted with how things go. Looks awsome, worth the effort if you're thinking of changing. I got mine from Ebay brand new.
