I heard about this years ago and thought it had happened in a tunnel. Still can’t understand what Beltoise was doing. Sadly, Giunti who was an accredited Ferrari driver had nowhere to go. I remember Ronnie Peterson overtaking Beltoise at Clearways ( Brands Hatch ) in the Race of Champions ( 1973 ) as if he was not there. Happy Days!
Could someone explain this please - I understand Giunti was leading the race, but he'd moved to the right slightly to pass a car, hence him hitting Beltoise's car. So presumably he was lapping somebody?? Is that right?
Giunti followed Parkes very closely, but as his Ferrari 312 was lower than the British driver's 512, the latter's car completely masked Beltoise's Matra.
the problem was that Beltoise tried to push the car to the left, but then he tried to push it to the pits, that in Buenos Aires are in that side, but it was a crazy decission
Definitively Beltoise was trying to push his car to the pits, confirmed by himself. Looking back in perspective, an absolutely retarded choice and you have to blame race organisation too, they failed to put a black flag to him (they should absolutely have disqualified him when he tried to push the car, let alone doing it in the middle of fast bend that was the last turn of the track) and of course Ignazio Giunti was to blame too, according to observers Beltoise was pushing the car for like 5 minutes at the same spot using the same line, Giunti was winning the race on his Ferrari and lapped him 2 times, Giunti choose the worse possible place to try to overtook a Porsche who was completely off the pace Overall a lot of mistakes that ended in tragedy, but this was 1971, this happened so many times in the 60's and 70's all around the world..
Wrong, Giunti was about to overtake Parkes (Ferrari 512) who sneaked up on the left of the Matra, but as his car was higher than Giunti's 312, it blocked his view of the Matra.@@miguelelgueta5830
No driver has EVER been luckier than Beltoise was here to avoid death or even injury.

in pieno rettilineo in mezzo alla pista a spingere la macchina....che rischi pazzeschi
Honte à Beltoise qui n à jamais montré de regrets debordants
Faux! il en a beaucoup souffert

Where has all this footage suddenly came from? There has been talk for years that there was video of it but i've never seen it. Where did you find it?
This film was taken by the Argentine TV. I remember I’ve seen it live when I was 14. It was shocking!
beltoise vergogna!!
tragedia sportiva 😟 impressionante! la striscia di fuoco a 0:17 , comunque, ricorda un po' il famoso film Volver al futuro (1985)

@@AMROU76 Hi, thank you, so was he lapping him?
@@ysgol3 Yes
@@maxduke1943 Thank you!
It looks to me as if, Beltoise is trying to push the car OFF the racing line. Very dangerous. But if He didnt. how many cars would hit it?

@@Pato-kf1uy The video does not show that.
