Most people assume the Foil is A Rapier, A rapier is heavy, A foil is light

Shouldn't both the jacket and lame zippers be on the non-weapon arm?

Hi William Afton! You are absolutely right. Good eye. As it happens, we ran into this pesky snag during filming. Debra is actually left handed, and didn't have all her equipment. So she used some I had on hand, which was right handed. For some of the shots, I flipped the image the make things look a bit more cohesive, but it wasn't going to fly with everything. We just did the best we could. It's always so hard finding people to work on these videos, and having to accommodate their schedules means we sometimes have to make things work and cut some corners to get the content out there. For the rest of the viewers, All zippers should be on the side opposite the blade arm. Unless you have a back zipper which can be used for either arm. Thanks for your comment.

It’s not in the video but why modern fencing doesn’t use Italian grip anymore? Because of efficiency or safety?

The “helmet” is actually referred as a mask

And the mask serves as a helmet, which comes from the German Helm, or Hel, meaning a covering. But lets not get too hung up on semantics. lol

@@184721 most fencers call it masks lol

@@peanutbutter141 Lol. Yeah, and fencers still wear uniforms that haven't been relevant in a hundred years. Your "mask" functions as a helmet. Remember what we're talking about. A sport with a systemic problem with innovation. It still thinks language training is relevant to learning the fundamentals. A sport stagnant since it joined the Olympics. It's only significant development was the allowance of women to compete in something other then foil. And that was in 1996. It's 500%+ mark up on equipment has only forced it more firmly into the closet of obscurity and exclusivity. Cementing it as an activity for the snobbish. It's members calling out others for being ridiculous while needing no help to look ridiculous all on its own. Claiming to gain popularity, while forgetting its constant decline over the past 50 years. So with my blessing dear sir, call it a mask. Beat that dead horse.

You didn’t even have the chest plate?? Someone could get hurt. The chest plate is made of plastic, so it will offer more protection than anything else. Also, when clipping the body cord to the lame, why did you put it on the PLASTIC hook? The cord won’t conduct the electricity. 🙄
