I've watched Messi since he appeared in the world of soccer, I'm the same age as him. I've seen all these plays live and on TH-cam 1 million times and I'm still amazed every time I watch it 🥲
He is really great to watch. Not only does he have the dribble skills but he does not flop and roll on the ground and cry like others. He truly just dodges and jumps over defenders as they hang on him trying to pull him down.
I think part of the genius of him as a player is that his body language will tell defenders "I will go THIS way, no this way... ahhh no this way" many times a second, that makes him really tough to defend. His ability to read the body language of the defenders is amazing, also so he can time his nutmegs so very well.
The thing about Messi is his mentality. As long as he can get to the ball, he won't give it up. 99% of all other players in the world would drop at the slightest touch from an opponent. But not Messi. Not as long as he even has the chance to hold onto the ball. That, his speed, ball control and agility make him the absolute number 1 in the world.
