Great video Cloud Skipper. My only suggestion would be if we could have listened in to RT all the way to the landing that putting in background music. I think the RT and the communication between the pilots make videos like this unique.

I guess you heard an indigo asking for departure from 09 as we were taking off? The controller said runway 09 not available.....winds 270/15 kts . Most airlines allow only 10 kts of tailwind . So 270/15 kts is 15 kts headwind for rwy 27 and 15kts tailwind for rwy09

Thanks for watching 😊🙏...touch down zone lighting is not available and not required in Kochi as it's an instrument landing system cat 1 runway . That is mandatory only for low visibility equipped runways like cat2 and cat3. Infact even centreline lighting is not mandatory in cat1 runways but Kochi has centre line lights 👍 as you can see it makes landings safer especially on rainy nights.
@@CloudSkipper thanks for the reply sir, But CIAL is recently upgraded to cat3 and those lights are visible in the daytime vdo and i don't know why they are not using that.
@@abymercyshaji I just rechecked the charts we have for COK, atleast as per charts no TDZ lights available ...only the approach lights. Perhaps it's under test still. The ILS charts also only have a CAT1 approach so far. Would be good to have cat3 or 2 though. I guess the priority though is to prevent flooding of the airport during monsoon rains. Historically Kochi has faced more rain issues than fog 🙈.

Predominant winds at kochi favour runway 27 but sometimes the opposite runway 09 is used when winds change . Also if the winds are calm and coming in from the west side like gulf countries pilots request runway 09 as it saves around 10 minutes of flying time. This ofcourse happens only if winds are within limits and traffic permits at the airport
@mister love, during pandemic it registered third highest international traffic amongst airports in India. This cherry-picked number was covered in media in Kerala.
If the approach lighting system goes off depending on airports they have different minimas..meaning the height at which a decision is made to continue an approach or perform a go around. At the minima we need to be able to see the runway. Again depending on airports there are also charts to tell which segments of the lights are ok to be inoperative or its mandatory that certain number of lights are operative.
I am seriously thinking of reuploading the whole thing as a new video with the right sounds. The music that i used (which was copyright free suddenly was bought by some company and they demonititized my videos and sent the proceeds to that conpany instead..all coz i used some silly music that was free for a year now. I had to replace music and the editor only allowed full replacement which over wrote full sections including the take off sounds🙄

Unfortunately none this month unless I get called from any reserve duty. 🤷🏾♂️😔...looks like they are training the junior pilots now who have met the minimum hours requirement I guess. Lots of new faces in the sim doing KTM qualification.
