  • The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk, or the Traumahawk as it's nicknamed, is a fantastic training aircraft lending itself to heavy feeling controls and a tendency to want to spin in the stall.
JustFlight have replicated the PA-38 for Microsoft Flight Simulator for their latest product/addon and have done a remarkable job! In this video, I show you some of it's neat features as an introduction to the aircraft...

I'm i flight instructor on the PA38 and its really a spin happy aircraft, remember , ailerons neutral and full opposite rudder on the recovery. If its a fully developed spin you may need to also apply full down elevator

My first lessons for my PPL were in the "Traumahawk" in 1984. Looking forward to this incarnation.

I got my PPL way back in early 90s, trained in a C-172, and during spin practice, I was instructed to never use aileron controls to recover, but just to use full opposite rudder.

This plane has started my passion for GA aircraft in the sim. Always been an Airbus airliner guy. Purchased this, and I’m hooked.

Nice video! I suggest you not to recover from a spin with opposite ailiteron but using only rudder and pitch down. If you apply full opposite ailiteron you enter in a flat spin or full developed spin

Did my first solo flight on this bird back in 1990 in Cyprus (Larnaca), the yellow one. Great video, thank you so much!

I'm definitely going to get this. I did all my flight training in this little plane. It was great for rapid descents. You pulled the power and it went down like an elevator. Very handy for the busy airport at Van Nuys.

Excellent review, I fly VR and can't wait for this to work in my MSFS I have already purchased and downloaded but for some reason it won't appear in my MSFS hangar ?
So I have yet to enjoy the pleasure of flying this one. Your scenery is really good, I must fly more of Australia. Thanks for a really interesting review.

Great Video! When recovering from a spin/stall leave the ailerons neutral as the use of ailerons will further deepen the stall of the aircraft, the wing which has the upward going aileron will have increased drag, and that in turn makes it even further stalled :)

Wanted to see how bad it would get and how it would recover

I am surprised that you did not aggravate the spin with that aileron input

My thoughts years ago on meeting the PA-38 was that it was a C150 with a misplaced wing. I continue to have that opinion.

Nice model but airleron neutral surely?...it stalls the wing otherwise

Any real need to get this if you fly the WB Sim 152, or the JF Pipers? Ive not bought the Comanche yet either... Not sure which one to get...if the other (above) planes differs to much to these other two?
