Thank you! I put this line-up in the description.
Thanks very much for this. Was lucky to hear Charles Brown at this time at JJ's in Mountain View, with Chris Cain backing. I thanked Charles for all the incredible inspiration he's given me, especially his much jazzier version of the Driftin' Blues He was so friendly and gracious and shook my hand, or rather he enveloped my small hand in his two Connie Hawkins sized hands. I was like "damn they's some big hands". like, twice as big no exaggeration. Look at this vid. His fingers are ridiculously long. I can do some 10ths, but his spread is like two octave plus wide. .
TAL FARLOW was nicknamed the Octopus,, Slim Gaillard, Evans, Oscar. "Spades dance best from the hip", said JDM = Jim Morrison
😊😊😊
Eddy Clearwater had huge hands too, the largest hand I've ever had the pleasure to shake.
Thank you! Gotta love Charles....
Great!Great!!!👍👍👍👍
Generous, beautiful, entertaining and words can describe only so much
Marvelous !
Wonderful video. Really brings back some nice memories of hanging out with this absolutely enchanted man.
Saving my Love for You, a beautiful and sadly neglected soul ballad. Absolute top of my list. Love a bluesman with the kind of depth of jazz in his playing to be able to handle a tune like this. With Robben, Chris Cain, Louis Jordan,Lou Rawls, Les McCann, Albert Collins, others and hopefully my playing too, it's the blues that's hanging on the borders with jazz swing gospel funk soul that's most interesting.
RAN BLAKE recently released it on his ch, maybe dec. ERMA FRANKLIN has the best version on Bwick lp, 68. Sonny Sanders arrangement.
Speaking of jazz in the blues 13:00 "Centerpiece" the saxman fully quotes the melody.
The only guy in history that makes ray charles seem like a kiddo
After a hot Danny Caron solo, Clifford Solomon kills it on tenor sax, even quoting Benny Golson's Social Call.
This guy is awesome! I'm looking for a recording of a song Charles did "If your love kills me baby, please keep me hangin' around, have me stuffed w/cotton & dressed up like your personal clown". Anyone familiar?
what is the name of guitar player?
Guitarist Danny Caron, saxist Clifford Solomon (I assume).
Danny Caron.
