I was fortunate to have lunch with JB around 7 years ago. Such a nice man. He tours constantly and usually his tours are usually to raise money to benefit his pet causes. Our sons were friends, he’s a good father.

This song is from 'Late for the Sky, ' the third studio album by Jackson Browne . In 2020, the album was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congres. It's consider one of the best singer songwriter albums of all time.

Please react to Jackson Browne's song The Load Out/Stay. It's actually two songs in one with Jackson putting his own spin on Stay. This is my favorite one of Jackson's. Thank you.

I love Jackson Browne and his music. I try not to get involved too much in their lives or lifestyle that could cloud my feelings of their songs. I love music and I love so many things about Jackson Browne, he co-wrote with so many great performers like the Eagles, and he has performed with so many great artists. It's my opinion that his music is more "art" then just songs for a season. His music touched my heart and my life growing up and I love his honesty in his songwriting and performances. I was so so blessed to see him live back in 1981. Be sure and check out his most recent interviews where he talks about the old days of creating these special songs and what he is doing now. GOOOOO Jackson!!!

This an amazing song, whatever happened definitely inspired him to incredible writing. True art for sure.

The depths of Jackson's writing is considerable. Lyrically and musically he has always had a wonderful sound. I put him shoulder to shoulder with writers like Dylan, Paul Simon, and yes...Joni Mitchell. I have seen him every decade since the late 70s and he has always had great musicians that share the stage with him. He is a generous and warm performer. My wife and I saw him 2nd row/center in 2012 in an intimate theater, That concert is a highlight of my musical journey through life.

" While the future's there, for anyone to change,
    still you know it seems,
it would be easier, sometimes, to change the past "
Good lord, the insights this man puts into a song lyric! Only 22 words, in the line above, but how many of us have
spent hundreds of hours reviewing and analyzing and almost trying to rewrite the past, instead of focusing on creating a
better future! A powerful and expressive insight I think into a very common human mistake I think, at least I know that
I've done a lot of that obsessing over the past, while spending far too little effort on the future.
What a songwriter this guy is. And not only are the lyrics superb, the music and arrangements are top notch too.

Jackson Browne started his career writing songs for other artists such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (he was briefly a member in 1966) & the Eagles (Browne co-wrote "Take It Easy"). But in the 70's he started recording his own songs. He had a lot of hits 70's-80's such as "The Load Out/Stay", "Doctor, My Eyes", "Rock Me On The Water", "Here Come Those Tears Again", "Running On Empty", "Somebody's Baby", "Tender Is The Night" etc.

Jackson started writing in his teens and never ceased to be amazing. He is among the youngest of this generation; in his early 70s and if he and Joni were together, it might have been when they were in their early 20s. So many were hanging out in the canyons of LA, jammin, gigging and trying to get heard. Jackson wrote for so many of them and they supported each other strongly. Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Loggins, Messina, Michael McDonald, etc. What a time to be alive and in LA!! I was one of the lucky ones to be nearby! I'm so glad you are listening to this generation. You hear the greatness! Awesome bands too. Everyone was worthy of the spotlight. 💙💙😘

First off, thx for posting. It showed up in my feed because YT knows me all too well. Ah, the power of good writing, "Doctor My Eyes" 1972 , I was a sophmore in high school when I first heard it on the radio, been listening ever since. On the surface my fandom makes little sense, I grew up on a farm in rural Ky, 15 miles from a town of 2000. He was a guy from east LA. Our day to day lives would be largely unrecognizable to each other. Still, I hear him, and most times, I even think I understand what he's trying to say. Kudo's to him for being universal in his insights.

The lines of this song that always gets to me:
"But when you look through love's illusion there lies the danger; And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool; So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger; While the loneliness seems to spring from your like; Like a fountain from a pool"
Love/relationship breakups always make me feel this way. EVERY DAMN TIME!!! Especially the part where the perfect lover looks like a perfect fool. Or am I really the fool?? What pain comes forth and is remembered when you meet again.

"Late for the sky" is probably his best album. And the original, and live performances from way back, is better than this rendition. Indigo Girls' version from the tribute album about 10 years ago, is also better than this. IMHO... 🙂
