I build a platform with saw horses and use 3/4" ply. The saw horses are 2x4 with a header that is 2x6 so I can screw the plkywood into the 2x6. The platform stand approximately 32" from the floor. Let me know if you want more details.

Thanks for all the support - I have written a Novel that was inspired by this village - The novel is called "Christmas Voice." It is a cross between "It's A Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol." It is a modern day Scrooge scenario. I am also going to make a film based on my novel. Hi - Thank you :) - Yes, My wife and I do the work (sometimes the kids will help as well). The village (which no 2 are alike) takes us 6 weeks to construct and 2 weeks to put away. We start with the platform, then I do a train layout (never the same) and then we build the village around that layout. You may not know, but i was inspired to write a Novel (now on amazon) called Christmas Voices by John Callas. It is a great stocking stuffer or gift. Please spread the word - Merry Christmas

I took this video in a dark basement. i thought i did it pretty slow. I took it to advertise to our local community so they can come check it out :)
