    This really reminds me of Drapers 60s Omega Seamaster in Mad Men has those same vibes but is something you’d be okay with wearing as a beater.

    I like the direction Timex is going - more mechanical, vintage-inspired watches. It's a smart move, at least in the eyes of this watch enthusiast. The Marlin isn't something I'm interested in from a design perspective, but it, and it's hand wound/automatic stablemates, have me taking a closer look at Timex. Now if they make a black dial version of the new Mk1 Mechanical field watch, they'll get my money.

      Totally! I honestly wish more watches of this sort of design and size came out. An entire segment of the industry is being ignored and it would do Timex and other well to pay attention to it.

    Love the style and the size. Modern men's watches are cartoonishly oversized--to the point of absuridty. They scream "gaudy" in a way that this and other vintage designs do not. Big watches are very "new money," while something smaller and more tasteful is very "stealth wealth."

    I got the champagne for my wife and she really likes the retro aspect of handwinding. Not being a watch person she's used to quartz so she thinks the sweep second hand is way cool.

      This is definatly a unisex model! Thanks to the smaller size, both sexes can pull it off. And Churchill wore small watches and he radiated style so don't tell me it's too small for men! Think it comes down to the silver dial and the tame case, very formal and timid but with a certain class

      Timex used to be absolute garbage in the mid 20th century, mostly due to their unserviceable pin-lever movements, but nowadays they are actually solid.

    Should Timex have used a Japanese auto to modify for handwinding? Would sales have been the same? I guess some lost revenue.

    I’ve heard so many people online state that these watches are notorious for having the crowns fall out. Even Timex’s own site has reviewers saying this. It really keeps me from getting one.

    • @GradyPhilpott
      @GradyPhilpott 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When I bought mine a few years ago, when it first became available, the winding stem pulled all the way out. I sent it back to Timex at their expense. They returned the watch with a bill for some ridiculous figure, but a quick phone call sorted that out in my favor. Other than that, I really love this little watch. I'm a watch nut and have some very expensive watches in my collection, but there are none I appreciate more than the Marlin.

    My marlin states Japanese movt, is that a fake then? Cause here he is mentioning seagull which is a Chinese movt.
    My marlin has a triangle at at the 12 position and a powder blue nato strap. It is also 34 mm

    I almost bought this watch a while ago. It's a beautiful watch. The only reason I did not come through was me worrying about servicing the movement. Can watch makers hand-wound Seagull movements easily? OR if instead of servicing the watch, do I buy another Marlin for $199? Ah the things I think about..

    hi! how long your timex marlin reissue works from fully wound to stop? I just got mine brand new, fully wound it (the crown resist already) at around 1.30 PM, then the second stop at around 10.20 PM, which means only last about 9 hours. Is it normal?

      Nah. Given how it is a vintage re-issue, it should have vintage design elements with as much things about it as possible. This includes case size and crystal type. Besides, there's already plenty of 38-42mm options, so just get those if you're really that bothered by it.
