Owismael I've used Xperia Z,Z2 & Z3 trust me there is some serious issues with Sony. First the camera lens is not made out of Sapphire so just after 5-6 months of uses it catches a lot of scratches so you've to end up by changing you're back chassis. Second in long run Sony becomes laggy and slow. Third We're in 2015 and Sony is still stuck with their 1080p Display panel. Fourth It's been Four Years they're running on the same design so consumers are getting monotonous by seeing the similar design again & again. Fifth Sony still doesn't have any OIS in their "Z" range. Sixth Their Front Firing Speaker actually sucks they've imitated HTC Boom Sound but they're not even near enough. The Upper hand they have is battery life. Sony phone's seriously have some excellent battery life that can last for days. So I guess this can help you guys.

Touchwiz provides a much better UX and UI, you're just happier because you got a faster phone. For the average person, no one in their right mind would say Sony's UI is better than Samsungs. Samsung's UI and bloatware got a lot better this year.
André Martins well it depends on the type of ui u prefer . I agree that if u buy a $200 phones and buy an more expensive $600 phone, u would obviously like the $600 phone more and it would be faster. In terms of software skins, its the owners personal preference. Some like Samsung touchwiz and others like close to stock Sony UI

If Samsung updated their flagships in 30 days and did it for at least two years then I'd be all over the S6! The S6 is the best phone on the market right now, no question, but I know I'd hate having it just because of not being updated to date with Android updates! :)
André Martins I actually prefer the closer-to-stock look of the Sony Z3+ than Touchwiz on the GS6, and I find the Z3+ to be more all-rounded than the GS6, I mean, there are a lot less compromises when choosing the Z3+, you get to keep the water resistance, the microSD slot, and still get an excellent camera and screen, a well performing processor, the same materials, (and something no one talks about, an stellar audio output quality on the 3.5 mm jack) all while having a much better battery life. On the other hand, Samsung offers the infrared port, the fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor, but you can actually live without those features pretty easily, how are you gonna add more storage or increase the battery life without carrying extra devices? You simply can't. That's why the Z3+ is for me.

at 4:22 , when you double tap the screen , the word SOFTWARE pops out and disappears into the screen . How do you do that ? Please teach me . i just got my Z3+ .Thanks .
Benjamin Rodriguez Reyes they're actualy not...the s6 always renders the better shot and it has the better video capture. it doesn't smash the z3+ but it's better at taking any shot.
kram FR There are sample photos in the review and I must say Z3+ takes really nice ones, sometimes even better than the S6. Finally colors are not washed out and during sunny weather you can really feel the sun. S6 tries to correct it and pictures are sometines underexposed, like it was trying to hide the sun.
Lg g4 camera is better than both. Sigh, I guess I'll wait forever to see the next Lumia launch. I was hoping to ditch my Note 4 for the z3+, but it's just not a big enough improvement yet.

Planning to buy a smart phone ..currently using iPhone 5s..I would like to come out of iTunes and grab something simple vth heavy battery backup and best camera ..budget is not an issue .. Suggest me one ! Am not aware of the current smartphone trends ..but am really fed up vth iTunes and low battery performance of iPhone 5s
presidentblablabla Every screen flickers, thats how screens work. In the video you see the flickering because the refresh rates are not matched up and thus you capture the fraction of a second the screen is off. Doesn't say anything about the screen though, sometimes even the most expensive tvs (think >$8000,-) show this behavior on video.
I have the z3, my wife the s6 edge. We went on vacation to California, took a ton of pics on both phones, s6 definitely captures faster, and in the end the pics were better but honestly not by much. I'm assuming the z3 plus and the z3 take comparable pics based on the shots supplied here. And in the rain her s6 went in her pocket and I continued shooting the water show we were watching at Disney without a problem. To anyone looking go get a Sony phone I highly recommend the z3, no overheating concerns, longer battery, and comparable if not the same in every other department.
Dokamoto the pictures on the z2 and z3 are comparable, why wouldn't the pictures on the z3 and z3 plus be similar as well? They use the same sensor and aperture and judging by camera tests, I'm not the only one to say the difference is negligible at best

I bought the GS6 before the Z3+ was available I'm starting to ... this is a tie in my opinion, the Z3+ has stereo speakers on the front, water resistance, better battery life, expandable storage and the S6 has the IR blaster, fingerprint scanner (both very useful to me) a slightly smaller size and it's more ergonomic and the display is amazing.
No offence, but the quality of this video is awful in comparison to the level shown by competitor channels, and normal Pocketnow videos (although I would say all of of pocketnow needs a refresh and modern-touch). A true shame considering the review itself isn't bad. But the poor camera shots (sometimes shaking), awful choice of backdrop (really a professional channel like this shouldn't have someone's living room in the background), strange text animations (very much like someone learning how to edit a video) makes this not an enjoyable viewing experience. Take a tip from your coworker Michael! (Also maybe time for a site redesign? Pocketnow seems firmly stuck in the past!
I genuinely don't understand the gushing praise over the S6 display. It's not bright enough and has garish over saturated colours. The Z3 and M9 are much brighter and sharper with better colour. However, HTC's cameras just suck (I have an M7). This video makes me think a Sony may be the best option of the three brands.
I personally think the Sony xperia z3 has a simple design but that's why I like it. It looks simple but great at the same time but I do agree with what you said about the HTC one M9 its a beautifully designed phone. But I don't agree with what you said about the ui I'd rather have a simple ui that probably won't slow my phone down in a few months like what touchwiz does and like what LG's Ui does.
The reason the Sony did not flicker is because it doesnt refresh, it's a static image. Since the Sony Xperia Z3, their flagship devices use something called "Memory On Display" this is not used in any other smartphone and is a key aspect in Sony's claimed "2 Day Battery Life". The following is an extract from Sony explaining this: We introduced “memory on display”. This means we use some dedicated memory on the display which “remembers” what’s on the screen at any one time. This means that where you are displaying a static image, the display doesn’t need to use the phone’s processor to constantly refresh the image. This means the screen uses far less processor power, and in turn saves a lot of battery.

I would have liked to have seen some low light samples. The video felt disconnected from its narrative and didn't really highlight any important aspects of the phone, besides what it says on paper

going for the z3+ im never getting a samsung again! i had a s4 it kept restarting it couldn't even handle twitter and after a year the sound didn't work except for the samsung logo when you restart it i had a lot more problems with it but i can't remember them

i can confirm heating problem is solved with new firmware update (32.2.A.0.224) for this phone. I simultaneously charge and do youtube game and everything possible to make it heat up but it not does not get higher than 42°C which earlier was 47°C Max and being normal was between 40 to 45°C for no reason. 😁 I am soo much happy and yes they brought back stamina mode which i don't see a real use of it although if used with Ultra Stamina mode you could get the most of your phone left battery.
This is a very good review, I didn't perceive any bias towards either maker. Both products are on top for their style. However, IMHO, the Omnibalance minimalist design is synonymous to elegance while being less distracting to the user experiencing its functions and purpose. Keeping this design may also be due to the density of the technology inside the device, and its dimension did shrink overtime up to this latest release as well.
Quite a clear comparison for the camera part, For camera, Z3+ has better exposure and noise control but not so attractive color reproduction For video, S6 seems exposed better but the stabilizer seems worse Seems Z3+'s photos are better for further editing, I am surprised how Samsung's software works for the metering.
I have a xperia z3 2014 model.... The battery and osteoporosis is so smooth and filled with bloatware. But I'm sure Sony will release a better flag ship within 3 months so I will wait if I was anyone
i love the design of the whole xperia series and i really dig the water proofing because i use my Xperia Z as navigation system on my moped and... well when it rains it will get wet... like really wet... also i freaking hate the camera... nipple of the samsung and the pretty obvious iphone 6 design "inspiration"
These are both great phones, don't get me wrong, but I'm not exactly sure how the S6's design is so revolutionary. Maybe the S6 Edge but that's a niche type of device. All that's changed is the placement of the sensors and speaker, which is something all manufacturers do with a successor. Then there's the glass and metal which is new for the Galaxy series, but something that's been done by other manufacturers for a few years now (Xperia Z-line included). Xperia's design definitely isn't revolutionary either since it's been around for years too. But everyone says the S6 design is all new even though it's using the same materials that a few of its competitors have been doing for years. Are people expecting Sony and other OEMs to make phones out of plutonium now??
I bought the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact because it is nearer in size to one of the W*.* as you can get these days and IMO the Z3 is more of a computer type tool than a actual mobile phone - which for me happens to be two W995s. They are both old school phones whereas neither of the above is really useful as a phone. They are getting in the size stakes to be as big as the first massive mobile phones. Remember those bad old days.

Currently a Sony user that came from a Samsung. There's really no comparison when it comes to the software. I have yet to see a Samsung that's more that a few month old and still performs well. As much as all reviewers praise the "new" cleaned up touchwizz only time can tell if that really made a difference. Until then, Sony has the upper hand. Good hardware will always be useless without good software.
I really like the z3+ but i really hate the old boxy design. The S6 is soooo much better looking. So its very hard to choose which one to buy. This guy definitely one of my favourite reviewers.
I didnt think I would use wireless charging but my nexus 7s microusb stopped working then i had to it. In this scenario wireless charging is extremely useful as I didn't need to replace the daughter board but it might not be as useful to everyone.

Worth noting 3:49 the S6 has f/1.9 on both front facing and the rear camera. Mind them I think it makes a difference

6644pmr Well they updated the software, and it makes a lot of difference. Z3 pictures are a little bit colder which is dislike.

There is an option for that- rooting! I never keep any of my devices unrooted and with stock rom, not even for a day.

Actually, it will be quick. My Z2 was very easy to root. BTW KingRoot works on most devices. Instal a recovery after that, then flash SuperSU and remove KingRoot. What part of that sounds hard?

going for the z3+ im never getting a samsung again! i had a s4 it kept restarting it couldn't even handle twitter and after a year the sound didn't work except for the samsung logo when you restart it i had a lot more problems with it but i can't remember them

i can confirm heating problem is solved with new firmware update (32.2.A.0.224) for this phone. I simultaneously charge and do youtube game and everything possible to make it heat up but it not does not get higher than 42°C which earlier was 47°C Max and being normal was between 40 to 45°C for no reason. 😁 I am soo much happy and yes they brought back stamina mode which i don't see a real use of it although if used with Ultra Stamina mode you could get the most of your phone left battery.
Sony makes beautiful solid phones and they are water resistance :)

This is a very good review, I didn't perceive any bias towards either maker. Both products are on top for their style.
However, IMHO, the Omnibalance minimalist design is synonymous to elegance while being less distracting to the user experiencing its functions and purpose.
Keeping this design may also be due to the density of the technology inside the device, and its dimension did shrink overtime up to this latest release as well.
Adjust your shutter speed to mitigate screen flicker.

For camera,
Z3+ has better exposure and noise control but not so attractive color reproduction
For video,
S6 seems exposed better but the stabilizer seems worse
Seems Z3+'s photos are better for further editing, I am surprised how Samsung's software works for the metering.

I have a xperia z3 2014 model.... The battery and osteoporosis is so smooth and filled with bloatware. But I'm sure Sony will release a better flag ship within 3 months so I will wait if I was anyone
i love the design of the whole xperia series and i really dig the water proofing because i use my Xperia Z as navigation system on my moped and... well when it rains it will get wet... like really wet...

These are both great phones, don't get me wrong, but I'm not exactly sure how the S6's design is so revolutionary. Maybe the S6 Edge but that's a niche type of device. All that's changed is the placement of the sensors and speaker, which is something all manufacturers do with a successor. Then there's the glass and metal which is new for the Galaxy series, but something that's been done by other manufacturers for a few years now (Xperia Z-line included). Xperia's design definitely isn't revolutionary either since it's been around for years too. But everyone says the S6 design is all new even though it's using the same materials that a few of its competitors have been doing for years. Are people expecting Sony and other OEMs to make phones out of plutonium now??

I bought the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact because it is nearer in size to one of the W*.* as you can get these days and IMO the Z3 is more of a computer type tool than a actual mobile phone - which for me happens to be two W995s. They are both old school phones whereas neither of the above is really useful as a phone. They are getting in the size stakes to be as big as the first massive mobile phones. Remember those bad old days.

Currently a Sony user that came from a Samsung. There's really no comparison when it comes to the software. I have yet to see a Samsung that's more that a few month old and still performs well. As much as all reviewers praise the "new" cleaned up touchwizz only time can tell if that really made a difference. Until then, Sony has the upper hand. Good hardware will always be useless without good software.
I really like the z3+ but i really hate the old boxy design. The S6 is soooo much better looking. So its very hard to choose which one to buy. This guy definitely one of my favourite reviewers.

I didnt think I would use wireless charging but my nexus 7s microusb stopped working then i had to it. In this scenario wireless charging is extremely useful as I didn't need to replace the daughter board but it might not be as useful to everyone.

ROM stands for Read Only Memory, it means that it can't be overwriten!!!!! you meant internal memory storage which is NOT the same
