    Wow, a little work there, Shane. Were you able to get the snap ring on the pin after grinding off the outer-housing? How badly did you mash the grease fitting-end of that pin? You had to do a bit of heavy whacking to get it through. I wish I was there with you to assist. You could have used another set of hands. At 17:06, it looked like one heck of a way to get an arm mashed by that cylinder sliding down the boom. The install was nicely done. So how many secret words did you have to whisper to get things to fall in place? (smile 😊 ) I think it went really well. Good you have a nice set of hydraulic persuaders. Full-watch....I enjoyed entire video. Now get on out there and play with some tree stumps. 👍

      I was able to get both snap rings on. No mashed fittings, the hammer was a leather-faced hammer so no damage. I wouldn't have been able to get it on by myself without the porta-power. I have two big piles of steel and plastic I need to load with it into the dump trailer but it appears the weather hasn't cooperated. It looks like rain for at least the next three days. I have a ton of work for the new thumb once the weather clears.

    I had the same issue with my roll pin hole on my 35c. They made it to fit a 7/16 hole and it needed to be a 1/2 inch. I contacted Showtime they sent me out a new pin.

    The only reason I watched was to see the pressure relief

    Still like the factory thumb better only because it’s solid from side to side allowing it to be used to retain finer materials within bucket depending on situation .

      This one in particular is tight. It's the same pin on design as the stock JD thumb. I didn't like the JD factory thumb, it was missing the center grab bar and the stock cylinder is traditional hose connects on both ends.

    Shane very helpful video, I have one question where is the valve on this machine to switch the hydraulic flow to the “2 way setting” to allow the thumb to work both ways?

    • @ShaneBurrell1
      @ShaneBurrell1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you are sitting on the machine it's on the front passenger corner of the cab. In a few of my other videos I point it out. It's near the table remote grease fitting. Look for a 1" + hole in the sheetmetal with a large hex head valve behind it.

    Good video. Tks How did you adjust the pressure to the cylinder?

    • @ShaneBurrell1
      @ShaneBurrell1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the jd27 you have to unmount the spool to get to both sides of the adjustment. I used a pressure gauge to set it to showtime fab's recommended setting.

    I know this video is old but I was hoping you could help me out. I bought a John Deere 27C zts. I wanna get a hydraulic thumb and every pin-on thumb is listed for a 27D, including Showtime Fab.
    Is that how it was listed when you bought it? I think the thumbs are the same but I’m not sure.
    Thanks.

      I used the showtime fab thumb for the 27c. They should be able to tell you if there is a difference between the 27c and d.

    How did you get the factory pin out?

      I used a air hammer with roll pin punch. Pops right out.

    I’m in the market for the thumb for my 35d, what made you choose this manufacturer? Oem Deere is around $1800 for the whole kit.

      It was better built than the factory. Still works great and I really like the cylinder fittings both at the top. Keeps the hoses safe.
