It has been a rubbish year for so many beekeepers. Glad you got a good result

@@Devonhoneyandcandles great colony to be fair. I have four boxes on her again to see if she will fill them up before the end of August.
Oh you have also won the candle from the previous video. All I need is an address to send it to you. You can email us at pureyorkshirehoney@gmail.com

    Nice 👍
I have run Italian X Finish queens this year and they produced nearly twice as much honey as the Buckfast. I’m based in SW Ireland so it’s a bit cooler and damper compared to you.
I’ve had Carniolan on the heather and they were amazing. The Buckfast weren’t great if it was too wet along with the Italian Finnish but hats off to the Carniolan.
Overall, the Italian queens did the best this year

Great video.. Thankyou. Did you consider double brooding to control the hive and give more space rather than doing a split ?

Couldn’t agree more about Northumberland Honey queens. I’ve bought a good few over the last couple of years and they have been consistently good. This year was my first year using Buckfast from them. I over wintered one queen as an experiment and took it to my mother’s house to give her something to watch over the summer. It turned out to be my best hive. Seven supers completely full and it would have done many more if I had been tall enough 😂. One was a brood box because I had Demaree’d it mid season. You have a great channel and it’s a pleasure when you post a new video. Wishing you every success from sunny Lancashire

Great video, definately not too long. Will you overwinter in the single brood, or play it by ear. Also when and what mite treatment are you planning this year? Ta for your joint efforts in putting these videos out.😊

@@eastsussexbeesandwildlife5801 Thank you, I always try and get them in a single. This year we have just bought Apiguard which is the gel. The nucs might get oxalic acid

Glad to see so much honey i notice thae you dont use 1 16 inch frames when these are coupled with Drone foundation it makes extraction so much easier good luck with the Heather
