its been a bad spring so far. I have quite a bit of OSR around me and living in Devon its been a little milder, so the bees are able to get on it, without the OSR this year my i would of had to feed them loads or risk starvation. Roll on the warmth and sunshine. its the right move to feed that nuc, she'll be boiling over soon enough😀.
I’ve got some more hives that are higher up towards the dale, checking on them tomorrow rain or shine as they could be desperate. Good luck for the season
plenty of strong colonies at Selby but the O S R is flooded out so crops may be light wish you all the best for the future and keep making your excellent videos
There has been masses of die off this year. My suspicion is bees unable to get out and get pollen. Frames full of honey but just not sufficient protein to raise brood. I've supplemented this spring and it has really helped.
Even worse on the opposite side of the pennines ,sever frost at night ,flooded crops lower down and I am still feeding plus the numbers are not building ,..grim
4 days of decent weather in a row has been handy
We have had a bad week so far, just went around again today just to feed if needed. From next week temperatures around here are meant to pick up
You are certainly correct about them needing feed
Slugs… they are in the hives here on the south coast as well.
Weird, must be too wet for them as well
Great video
Thanks for the hard work and imparting some of your knowledge
Bee well
Purdie👍
Thanks Purdie
Thanks for the insight.
Good idea feeding small colonies, we are not not out of the woods yet.

Completely agree, too cold to go out and get what they need. Really needed some good management so far, then they we be swarming before we know it 😆
Slow start , feeding all 😢
Luke and suzie, what's their company name?
Northumberland Honey Company
What straps do you use on your hives and how long have you had them?
Open ended ratchet straps I think they are 3-4m long and about 30mm wide
@@pureyorkshirehoney Thank you
do you find the bees get grumpier on the OSR? Mine have got cranky and I'm trying to figure out why?
I have heard this, could be another beekeeping myth, I’ll be monitoring there temper though

Sorry to hear that sounds like you are on top of it though, all the best for the season
