There's no "set" path in life and you aren't "wasting time" when you are trying to get on the path that you think will fulfill you in the future. I still remember my 10th grade English project where we had to write a research paper about our dream job. I chose firefighter, everyone looked at me like "you're gonna be a firefighter? you're too small, you know how terrible it pays? you're gonna get cancer." I ignored it and continued on with the project and actually got to interview some local firefighters who were more than happy to explain to me why they love their jobs. It's not because they make bank, its because they enjoy the sense of satisfaction that it brings, knowing that you helped someone out on the worst day of their life. All the other kids choosing 'doctor, lawyer, salesman' had nothing to say except that their jobs payed well. I still intend on fulfilling my dream to become a firefighter with the St Louis FD.
This system is so normalized. But when you actually stop and think about school, and the orders you are given on how you will spend the rest of your life, its honestly depressing.
It takes a lot of courage and confidence to go back on everything everyone tells you is the correct to go pursue a harder and less likely to be successful career but Is your passion.
not really less likely to be successful but more unclear that it will be, if you keep at it and you're consistent and keep your head up, it'll work out.
It’s dope because I’m not going to college right away. I just graduated a few days and told my parents that I’m not attending to college right away and thankfully they were supportive of the idea. I haven’t time or rather I didn’t try to look deeper into myself but now I really want to take my time and figure out what I truly want to do and who I am.
"it doesn't matter how much you get paid, when you wake up and you don't wanna live anymore." - Lucid 2021 I wish everyone watched this video before going to school. another 10/10 video from Lucid :>
Im a senior, graduating this monday and everyday i would get questions from family and teachers/counselors about college. I tell them I didnt want to go to college. I said i wanted to take a gap year or maybe even more to figure who i am. I do want to pursue my dream and continue streaming but i want to set myself up by getting a job that can support me while I work on my hobbies.
no doubt to you or anything but streaming is a tuff career path. if you really wanna take streaming seriously then you need to stand out and be special, otherwise it’s a lazy job that won’t get any attraction due to the competition.
I myself am currently going through the phase of not knowing what I wanna be when I'm an adult. I used to always avoid people when they asked me the simple question: "what do you wanna be when you grow up". Ever since I first had been confronted by the question, I was getting anxious and on rare occasions breathed heavily as I really did not know what I wanna become. And in my 2nd year of high-school, it really reinforced that feeling of still not know who I am and what I want to pursue in life. It is like everyone around me is certain of who they want to become as their hopes and wishes are like that of bonfires, and I happened to be around those bonfires to get some warmth. But at the same time, those bonfires will extinguish later on and I will return to the cold wind that is leaving me with the same question over and over again: who do I wanna become. I'm still in my pursuit of finding that out.
that’s how felt when i quit trying to become a pharmacy tech because of my parents and realized i always loved being creative whether it was art, music or making videos .. so now i have a youtube channel
I may not agree with some of his arguments, but he has a great brain. He puts his argument across in a logical manner, and i can relate so much. I personally love school and I am doing great and at 13 I’ve already got half my life planned, bcos I have a drive and I know what I want to do, what I love to do.
In India, my parents and most of the other parents pressurize their kids to study and only study and get themselves a job. Two or three months ago I asked my parents if they could buy me a guitar coz the instrument fascinates me, I just like the sound of the vibrations of those strings, but the moment I asked my father about that he told me immediately that if he got me a guitar, I would stop focusing on my studies. And just like that my dream of learning to play guitar was ruined and I just don't feel like doing anything out of the box anymore because I know that my parents and society will be there to stop me. And it's not just this episode of me asking my parents to get me a guitar. I've wanted to do numerous other things but this tradition of study or nothing has ruined everything for me.
I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS TODAY. I've been dealing with a lot since I stopped going to school due to all the stuff that happened with me and my classmates. I still remember the days when doing the work and going to class got progressively draining. I was going to get a degree in applied gaming only to not be able to find a job for game creating in my area. My only other dream is to be a music artist. So around fall I'll be going back to study music.
Heyy just know that you will make it!!! You just have to stay committed, and trust me, if you are absolutely committed and devoted to what you wanna do and who you wanna become, you will eventually end up getting there. Trust the process and believe in yourself. Try not to think negatively and have self doubts cuz they usually tend to distract you from your goals and ambitions. All the best, just know that I believe in you. ❤️😊🙌
I am sad I went to college, even though it is in the exact direction I want to go in. I simply knew what I wanted to do since I was 13 and have been doing it since. Nothing college can teach me anymore after doing it for 5 years straight. For few people, college is a blessing because it teaches them what they want to know. For almost everyone, it is a curse, only spending money on something that you'll hate anyway. For almost no one, college is useless because they already know everything. I truly am blessed to be in that last category, I hope you're either in the first or last, and otherwise I hope you find what you love asap and pursue that.
Fuckin preach it dude, you are absolutely right about people not knowing what to do early on. Taking that time to introspectively look in to yourself and find out what you want to do is bigger than any education. This video will help a lot of people.
Facts, I'm going to get my fourth(of 5) year highschool deploma (I know it's weird but that's Québec) and I'm going to do something that I'm actually passionate about, the Canadian Armed Forces.
Great video! i hate when people do things just because society says its GOOD and will make YOU HAPPY, the only person that knows what will make you happy and knows what you want to do is YOURSELF. you need to look into youself and find your passion and what you really want to do in life.
i understand what your are sayin but you can’t guarantee that your will be a better and more successful TH-camr in the next two years but You can believe it and at the same time work on your craft to reach there. Only god withholds the outcome of the future.
Dude you are spitting fax, when did you become a fax machine? In seriousness tho, we should do the work which we have a heart in and passion for it. Love your talks dude, who knows you might be invited to a ted talk. Best of luck for the future, great lad
I know way too many people who went to uni "because there's nothing else" and they didn't know what they wanted to do. Some who even ended up going _back_ because they rushed into a field that paid well but sucked the first time. I'm pretty firm in the belief that you shouldn't go straight away unless you are absolutely sure you know what you want to do, and are _passionate_ about it. Kids don't understand the debts they're taking on just because it's easier to stay in the schooling system than to experience being an adult first. It _is_ scary, and you _do_ feel lost without school, but you _need_ that period to discover yourself and make the right decision. Get out, experience the world, experience having a job, and then make the decision. Personally, I took a uni course with first year students during my last year of high school as a trial, and decided it wasn't for me. Then thought I would go to TAFE instead because I liked the learning style better (Aussie equivalent of community college I'm fairly sure). Didn't get a scholarship, and my gut told me, "Just wait. Don't apply straight away and take a off semester to make sure you're certain about it." Then the course went free via government funding for the next semester, completely unexpectedly. I'd had more time to think about it, and had backup options if I didn't end up liking it. I'd had a taste of adult life outside school, and was overall a fair bit more independent and prepared. A bit older too, which made me feel more comfortable because I was one of the younger ones in my grade and wasn't 18 yet until the year after graduation. These days, there are so many avenues to get into different fields. For many, there isn't really even a need to have a qualification, as long as you know your stuff. That said, there is still value for many people in having a structured learning experience. You have your entire adult life to decide to go pursue further education if that's what you want. You don't have to go the minute you finish school. If you're gonna get into debt for a good chunk of your life, make sure it's for the right reasons, and that you understand the gravity of that decision.
“Everyone has a different path” yet society standards expect everyone to go down the same one. Find your self and pursue your dreams. All it takes is an idea. Go for it.
Me too bro. Last year was my second year and I couldn’t do it especially being online. I was only doing it because of pressure anyway and because my family is afraid of me doing what I actually want to in life
this video really spoke out to me and i’m about to be a senior in highschool. watching these deep talk videos that lucid posts really speaks on high levels. thank you lucid. i appreciate you
Mad respect for you man. What you talked about in that video is literally every kid in high school. Their parents tell them to do this job or do that and are told to do that job because it pays good. But later on in life they get more and more depressed because the job they do later on in life isn't what they want to do every day and wake up to. It's the truth. Kids are just so gullible they're just too scared to admit It and think their life has come down to one moment that has lead to the job their parents have entitled to them. I'm glad you spoke out Lucid, mad respect for you, bro.
im 14 i litterally have 5 yt channels where i post 1 vid a day and i truly enjoy it but my parents even tho my mum is supportive my dad isnt and my mum knows that i wont make it she is just saying ye thats good. i only started a week ago and trust me in 1 to 3 years i will succeed and i will finally dropout because i dont like it in fact i fn hate school and trustttt me school isnt a safe route anymore, in 2020 so many people finally realised school is not something safe or to fall back on nothing is safe. ("WITHOUT RISK THERE IS NO REWARD") and i finally realised that!!! (STAY LUCID AND STAY DREAMING)
I completely agree. I'm glad that there are people who think the way I do. Because some people may say that we live in our own delusional world but it's the complete opposite. Actually we are living in reality whereas the people who are judging are in delusion.
I’m the same Brotha, don’t wanna go to school, so I’m going down the route of entrepreneurship. I understand why some people who work 9-5 turn out to be alcoholics, hence why I’m not going down that path of depression. Much love lucid dawg 💯🙏.

How do you know that most people dont know what they want to be and it's not just because you didn't know what you wanted, so you thought everyone must be like you?
most people dont know why they want to do what theey are dreaming about. Thats what hes saying. ilke if someone whats to become a doctor because his parents told him to do so because it pays good.maybe deep inside this person wants to be a pilot. but instad he becomes doctor and start to feel depressed and dont even know why. hope it helped
This was the most relatable video on your channel. Days after days society tries to push the fact college is the only way out. As soon as I made my first $1k month on here, I knew something was wrong. All I had to do was 5-10x and it’s a real job. A job that paid well, and something that I liked. Here we are today 1 year later, i’m 16 years old making $5,000 a month off youtube. Hopefully this inspires some of you guys and maybe Lucid can see this.
Saying you don't need highschool is a pretty bold claim to make yet I still agree with the point you made about college. Highschool at least gets you ready to become an independent thinker and to think outside the box often time when you are struck with a challenge without a mentor or careless teacher.
sure, Highschool teaches you a lot of useless things, but I think that you should at least take highschool, then decide what you want to do from there. It trains your brain big time and develops your thinking skills.
@@niko1even "trains your brain" ? how ? by doing trigonometry ? and practicing calculus ? all high school did to me was make me wanna attempt suicide and give me trauma LOL. dropped out 2 years ago to pursue e-com, and im making good money. still resent the formal education system. i personally think, high school is completely useless. college is FINE if you know what you're doing. but for 95% of the people, high school is pointless, it doesn't help you grow as a person, and it does not challenge you what so ever. and i disagree that it develops your thinking skills. most kids in my class were only thinking about the short term and couldn't see the big picture. for me, it only developed my "i wanna fucking go home" skills to max level. however, i respect your opinion.
@@deltont I don't know what highschool you went to. But my highschool was decent. It depends on your teachers, my teachers cared about the class and would adjust the workload. They would ask for feedback often and change around the teaching methods to help the students learn. Maybe I was a special case, but I learned a lot from highschool. Had good memories with friends and teachers.
All that was said in this video is facts. No one absolutely no one is born on this earth to work for someone else. Every single one of us has something really special and new. I'm still in school and young but I really know that I want to create my own reality not just go with the flow. Don't get me wrong if you truly love something and it needs college just go and do it but if you do it bc someone else wants you to you will regret it. I sometimes feel like idk what I wanna do but what i really know is that I have something new and special and it could be anything nothing is impossible for me or anyone you just have to have the mindset.
Lucid i really advise you to get into investing (if you weren't already) to become financially independent, and having financial security, keeping a portfolio and putting money into a savings account etc etc. Some people make investing complex, but it can be easy. The best way to get rich by investing is to invest and hold. Don't invest money that you can't live without.
Thats true im 12 and every person in my class i so stupit with this them and one of my friends its so focused on being a cop but no for his dad because its what he really loves and i totally soport him
Goodness does this speak viscerally to me... unfortunately 5 year later on the path to finding myself, I’m still standing in the cross roads, unable to choose because I find myself being miserable on each path I’ll go... I love your attitude and it’s very much so my own, but you’re one of the lucky that sees the way we do but also sees their passion
Thank you man, I am 14 right now going into freshman year. I honestly think your way of thinking is so smart and so wise. Why pursue something you don’t like just because society and parents force you to, when you could find out who you are and pursue your dream your goal. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Thank you bro, your might literally be the reason I will be successful in life.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” he loves you and will always be there for you guys no matter your situation have a great day.
The thing is that lucid’s case is of the exception. I haven’t looked at statistics or anything but I can almost definitively say that most college dropouts do not become as successful as lucid. The only perspective lucid has of being a college dropout is being a successful one, so he doesn’t know what normally happens to college dropouts.
Well, the defenition of success differs from person to person. Second, if a person is super committed and determined, nothing can stop him/her from succeeding. I think people fail because of their lack of commitment to success. And also, just because a person has a high paying job, it doesn't mean they are successful (financially yes, but what about other aspects such as emotional and mental health and well being and fulfillment). We, as a society need to redefine success.
Dude, you know what I am headed to college, yeah there are benefits, but you are one of many that have successfully beat the system without college. Your channel is awesome and thank you for saying that cause I know a few people who don’t want to do college. Good job and much luck to your channel for MANY years!!!!!
Watching this has gave me piece of mind. Like you, I was the only one of my soon to be graduating class to decide, “wait, let my take a year off or two and see what exactly I’d like to do.” I don’t know what I like so why chance picking a college because of being expected to (or my advisor pushing me to), just to realize 2-3 years in that, “oh, I don’t actually want to do this”, and realize that I’ve wasted time. My parents support my decision, and themselves told me that the way school is now, it’s just a bunch of bullshit knowledge learning and societal expectations that can trap a lot of people, if they realize they truly don’t like they’re past aspirations.
I see college as a way to learn new skills, not as a way to get any sort of recognition. If you drop out you only lose thet recognition but the important thing, which is learning, you can get it everywhere else
This shit hit hard. My dad is a living, breathing example of hating his job for me. He tells me how when he was young, all he was told was that if you make lots of money, you'll be happy. Thus, my dad went through school, not knowing what he wanted to be except for the fact that he wanted money, and despises what he does for a living now. He learned the hard way that happiness is the number one priority and that you should do whatever you love. He tells me this same thing every day so I don't make that same mistake. Even though he doesn't like his job he has realized he should still make the most of it and nowadays he wakes up jubilant and does his work dutifully and with as full a heart as possible so that he can be the best he can. Love you dad.
Videos and statements like this hit different being homeschooled a majority of my time in high school. My life had done a full 180, in a good and bad way. And in that time all I could think about is “would have I thought and acted THIS way if I was in school during these desperate times?” And it’s what I stick to and remember when I feel like I’ve lost my way in this indecisive life. I would like to peruse a career in Art & Animation, freelance, and potentially work as a graphic designer for big video game companies. Not because I was told by a stranger or a family member, rather they are the handful of things I enjoyed as a kid and was very much fond of and began to take serious interest by studying late night everyday no matter what day. I feel as with enough dedication, respect, and passion, whatever career or choice you choose to take in life you’ll be rich in your own way. 💯

This system is so normalized. But when you actually stop and think about school, and the orders you are given on how you will spend the rest of your life, its honestly depressing.
A lot of kids's dreams nowadays is being Famous TH-camrs and I'm one of them too! Lucid's videos are very helpful and inspiring to me
It takes a lot of courage and confidence to go back on everything everyone tells you is the correct to go pursue a harder and less likely to be successful career but Is your passion.
not really less likely to be successful but more unclear that it will be, if you keep at it and you're consistent and keep your head up, it'll work out.
Entrepreneurship is the best. Don't be the employee be the employer.

I wish everyone watched this video before going to school. another 10/10 video from Lucid :>
My man went ALL IN
Im a senior, graduating this monday and everyday i would get questions from family and teachers/counselors about college.
@@LilJagger ya i know its a hard thing to get into and grow. Im trying to stream but upload on yt and other platforms and try to grow from there
Moral of the story: become a therapist 😂
😂😂😂
You’ve only got a few years on this planet, make em count.
I'm still in my pursuit of finding that out.
i’m 14 and idk what to do either
I understand how you feel I’m gonna be a senior next year and I still don’t know what to do.
I’m in the EXACT same position man, let me know if you want to talk and we might be able to help each other out.
that’s how felt when i quit trying to become a pharmacy tech because of my parents and realized i always loved being creative whether it was art, music or making videos .. so now i have a youtube channel

Hi
Now I know who started the "Is Lucid Crying?" thing.

Everything that comes out if this dudes mouth is actually facts in the long term and short

Go for it.
my name says it all, god bless
Me too bro. Last year was my second year and I couldn’t do it especially being online. I was only doing it because of pressure anyway and because my family is afraid of me doing what I actually want to in life
this video really spoke out to me and i’m about to be a senior in highschool. watching these deep talk videos that lucid posts really speaks on high levels. thank you lucid. i appreciate you
I believe we’re ultimately here to help others, above all else, and you’re doing just that with this channel.

I AGREE! You don't need college!!! In fact YOU DONT NEED HIGH SCHOOL yet they require it
Saying you don't need highschool is a pretty bold claim to make yet I still agree with the point you made about college. Highschool at least gets you ready to become an independent thinker and to think outside the box often time when you are struck with a challenge without a mentor or careless teacher.
You don't need high school...
sure, Highschool teaches you a lot of useless things, but I think that you should at least take highschool, then decide what you want to do from there.
Lucid: I dropped out
Me: Oh we know
No safety, yup and the chance to not make it is higher than in your parents time.

I love your attitude and it’s very much so my own, but you’re one of the lucky that sees the way we do but also sees their passion
Lucid no one needs a therapist when we have you
Thank you man, I am 14 right now going into freshman year.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” he loves you and will always be there for you guys no matter your situation have a great day.
this.. this is legit everything iv been trying to get across to my parents when i say "i dont really wanna got to collage" thank u so much bro
Lucid is not crying anymore
Dude, you know what I am headed to college, yeah there are benefits, but you are one of many that have successfully beat the system without college. Your channel is awesome and thank you for saying that cause I know a few people who don’t want to do college. Good job and much luck to your channel for MANY years!!!!!
we support you lucid fan since 10k
Bro watching this makes me feel like he’s in a diss battle with his teacher🤣
Damn bro, I never truly realised what you are talking about (even though I'm aware of it), thanks !
