Hey mate just on the glow plug controller. Mine was bricked on my TD and I ended up getting a $100 aftermarket one from Repco and just wired it up to the existing wiring. It has an output for the glow light on the dash so when the light is on the dash it is 100% glowing. Can be programmed for how long you glow first for, then when engine runs it’ll “after-glow” which basically glows on and off in 1 second increments. Had it on there for 4 years probably 50k kms no dramas. I’ve got it mounted up near the cluster so will never be able to drown it. I don’t like the factory setup because it won’t glow if the engine is above a certain temp, but these things hate starting without a glow even if it’s warm.
Yeah that’s pretty cool! I don’t mind the factory setup, but I do need to mount the timer up a bit higher, mine will start after a single crank on a normal day, but yeah in winter it struggles, and if you want it to glow longer at all times you can just unplug the bigger coolant sensor at the front (not the dash sender)
Yeah that’s a good idea, just hard when you’re stopping to get em out every 3 mins and stuff is on the charge etc, if it isn’t grab-and-go easy I tend to think “meh screw it” and not film haha
Hey Tim awesome vids as always mate first time comment ,just heads up if i did miss something run a head shield on your slave cylinder or heat wrap your down pipe running past the slave , exhaust temps are cooking the rubber seals in that cylinder which in turn will stuff your clutch again eventually ... Yeah there’s definitely a few good options out there I’ve just been trying to stick with that “normal” sort of tier of clutch but if this one slips I’ll have to take it to the next level, I’m pretty confident the last one was my fault from the heat patterns
@@timmyhasheart Yeah man you're prob right judging by the heat spots. If it is the torque loading on the clutch that is overcoming it, it's kind of diminishing returns when trying to add more and more clamp to a single plate and/or going to a segmented/puck style clutch disc or hybrid puck/full face etc. More clamp pressure results in worse pedal feel (obviously) but also the clutch life drops off alot as well due to the setup of the pressure plate fingers and the knife edge they pivot on to get that extra clamp... However… I’m also not so pigheaded that if it ever did become an issue that I wouldn’t stand corrected, because I just don’t care about anything other than what’s in front of me and people getting good tested info as opposed to just relayed anecdotes.
The only time I’ve ever heard of it, is from people repeating it, same as a lot of other things in this industry. 🤷🏻♂️
But either way you obviously have your own experiences and that’s fine, I’ve personally just never had an issue, if I ever do I’ll come back to this thread and say I was wrong.. but yeah 4 of us with this clutch with high torque and none of them have failed, and my brakes are bullshit good. 👍🏻
Hey Timmy do you run sway bars didn’t see them on the video
Yeah dude absolutely, in the intro clips you can see them in 👍🏻👍🏻
Ive got a questions, when you were with tyler and you guys did the willamette creek track and tyler's gearbox left the chat was that a hard track? asking cause Iive in the hobart area and wanting some hard tracks near my place.
Hey mate, I dunno if it’s all that hard but it has spots where you’ll absolutely winch, like it’s just hills and bogholes 👍🏻👍🏻
@@timmyhasheartyea fairo, any hard tracks you know of?
@@its_billyrusso4868$1000 is probably the only real one I know in tassie, plenty of odd climbs around and winter makes a lot of the normal tracks fun but yeah, small state
With inflation its basically the $2000 track at this point
I wish it was only $1000 hahaha, I reckon this trip was at $4000 at least 😂
Did anyone else see the fte unichip he put in 😂
Yeah mate bloody oath, FTE uni chip +400nm
Is that the 2 speed tophat on your 8274?
Yes mate! It’s called a “Kama Oko Vidi” or “KOV” for short, they’re Croatian 🇭🇷
@timmyhasheart was looking at them recently but yours is the first I've seen in the wild as such, havent seen them in the uk as most people have a GP, red or even a comeup blazer,
How do you find it in action?
$5000 dollar track we named it 😅
Hahaha I reckon it cost me about that, drone, clutch, door, the rest 😅
Be interesting how it takes 37’s 🤠
I’ve been running it about 2 weeks so far, seems to handle the power okay so far but I’m only on 32’s atm haha soon find out!! 🔥
@@timmyhasheart I’m running Ufi’s version, whined like a basturd for first 5000 kays then has been good
@@craigmooney2630yeah I was very very tempted to try UFI, and even the Viper. Ive been avoiding that next level up and wanted to stick to this mid tier because I believe you have to modify the flywheel for those? Is that right? And have been trying to avoid that haha see how we go
@@timmyhasheart , no mods with ufi, different hole centres with npc though I think
Weather pretty crazy in Tassy 🤠
@craigmooney2630 ahh yeah must just be the viper - yeah dude absolutely wild!!! Roads closed and trees down everywhere, hate to be the next to do $1000 🥵
does the fact you know how to fix your own car help when sending the truck up tough tracks?
Abbbbbsolutely mate, you learn every sound, shake, smell, you know when this bearing was done, you know this breather blocks up, you know which wire to wiggle when it doesn’t start etc etc. can also make it scary though knowing when I’m going 100kmph that I’m the one who did up the steering arm last 😂
😂😂love the last part. interesting tho cheers @timmyhasheart
Use nothing but dca clutches have done all my drift cars and tow cars and all of my 4wds I buy o e cluch and it out lives my time with the car buying clutches from online brands has cost me thousands
Yeah for sure, we all have our brands that work, there is a few “go to” clutches in the TD world, the 4 terrain is the main go to for mid tier torque which is what I always ran without issue, even this time I don’t believe it was the clutches fault I think it was either my fault torquing it down, or the hydraulics fault, Exedy isn’t a crowd favourite for TDs but road runner had them and they look after me so I thought I’d take a punt, if it doesn’t work it’s me that’s gotta rip it out I guess haha
@@timmyhasheart some times they just don't work had a clutch industry's one in my 4.8 it only use the outside of the clutch disk found out my flywheel was concaved I had done 40.000 is km like that towing my boat my bushpicg and the drift program and I go over and above on the clutch my 4.8 makes around 550hp to the wheels but the clutch is rated for 800 hp
@@stotty117 yeah true? That’s interesting.. maybe that was the case with this one, I’m usually pretty good at torquing things to spec down evenly but yeah maybe it was a dud 🤷🏻♂️
