I drove this in tractor trailer hauling groceries for City Market on a regular basis all 4 seasons. An experience I shall never forget. Many stories to be told.
I can hardly believe there aren't guardrails. Once you start sliding, you can bail but you might not make it. Your passenger on the right side, stands a better chance of the bail as soon as the vehicle starts sliding! I'm thinking of the time when I was on a road like that and hit black ice! That frozen snow actually gives your tires something to grab onto!
I know 2 people who have gone over the side and survived. One was in some guys old pickup, and as I recall, it was a day or two before they were spotted!
