First five cards: Amex Platinum, Amex Gold, Chase World of Hyatt, Citi AA Platinum, and Venture X. Later picked up the Delta Gold, Chase Amazon Prime, and most recently, the CSP. I need to sit down and calculate whether we really NEED two premium travel cards, but I really like what they both offer. The others more than pay for themselves, although I just got the CSP, so I'm not sure yet if it'll be a keeper card. Living in a small west Texas town and traveling within the U.S. 2-3 times a year, our use cases and cost benefit analyses are wildly different from yours, but your general advice works for us, and I enjoy hearing the perspective of a frequent traveler.
I recently, and happily, burnt a 5/24 spot on my second round with Chase for the Amex Surpass. Solid keeper card on its own and the 15K spend free night is highly valuable to me. I think having such an "ultra work horse" in your roster is a smart move, because it allows you to stretch out velocity if you want
🐇 My first five cards were the Wells Fargo platinum/Freedom Unlimited/Hilton honors/Amex gold/Amex platinum I definitely got excited by the fancy cards in the beginning so I do regret getting the gold and platinum that early
🐇If i could do it all again, I'd start with USB Altitude Reserve, CapOne Duo, a $95 hotel keeper card, and then slowly add 5% cards (Amazon, CCC, CFF, etc). This is solely based on how i travel. Twice a year and only domestically.
🐇 Just hit 5/24 with CSP. Now I have the chase trifecta, Amex platinum (150k sub) and a United card. I have 500k already!! Thanks to your videos Sebby!!

@@AskSebby gotcha. I’d love to hear your thoughts on business credit line offers such as the one from Amex. Maybe on your business channel you can touch on that one of these days. Also, your roundup videos are typically my favorite. Thanks for putting all this together.
🐇 Does the capital one 2 car limit only count for there main cards or any cards? I have both the Walmart card (for business) and the quick silver card which was my first card
I currently have two u.s. bank cards with a combined credit limit of $15,000. I'm looking for another card with at least a $15,000 or $20,000 starting credit limit. Which card would you recommend, my credit score is 775 and perfect payment history and never used over 10 percent of my current credit cards and currently don't have a balance on either card.
🐇 How can you get a bonus again after the 2yrs are up? Also i spoke with a chase rep and he said even the business ccs count towards the 5/24 bc to apply for business card you need to put in your ss.
IMO United's customer service has really gone downhill. The food in business class (on the airplane) is really pretty poor as compared to 5-10 years ago. The lounges also do not offer the food and some services they did in the past. I remember in 2005 in the United lounge in Chicago there was a buffet, full spread with a guy slicing prime rib, etc. The service from the flight attendants is also marginal. I'll tell you a funny story (below) if you feel like reading it. One time, about 2010, I was flying Tokyo to Chicago on United business class. I boarded, found my seat which was an isle seat in the center section. In the seat next to me was a 2.5 to 3 year old boy (car seat strapped into the seat), then his mother was on the other side on the opposite isle (only 3 seats in center section). I greeted them, then walked over to the flight attendant (FA) who was working our section and politely asked her if the plane was not full, is there a chance I could switch seats, due to sitting next to a small child on a 14 hour flight The FA did not hesitate to abruptly tell me no. I said OK, thanks and took my seat. The child was really pretty pleasant and we got to know each other a bit. I had young kids at the time, but was traveling alone. Fast forward 6-7 hours...I wake up and see that mom is asleep and the little boy was not in his seat. I look up the isle into first class and see him wandering, barefoot, up/down the isle. I try to get the FA attention, but they are not paying attention. So, I get out of my seat, go up the isle and smile at the little boy and say, let's go back to our seat. He grabs my hand, and we are walking back to our seat. As we are walking past the galley separating first class from business class, the SAME FA says to me "Sir, you can not let your child wonder up and down the isle"! I quickly told her "This is not my kid, and one of the reasons I asked you if there was a different seat I could possibly switch into". I told her I watched the kid wander in the isle for a couple minutes and no one noticed except me. Rather than being apologetic, the FA got upset. She walks over to the mom and grabs her with both hands by the collar and shook her awake and proceeded to yell at her about her son, before mom even had a chance to wake up and realize what was going on. Neither the FA or supervisor ever came to me with any form of a "thank You" or an apology. I used to make that round trip Tokyo/Chicago in business class about 3-4 times per year for many years. After that I started flying ANA (Al Nipon Airways) where the service and FA are so much more attentive and still bagged United miles because they are a part of STAR Alliance. This was way before all the attention on human trafficking and I felt OK to guide the child back to his seat. Long story but I think it speaks volumes.
Before I got involved with the travel game, I had 3 existing cards for totally different purposes. My first 5 for travel were: Chase Freedom, IHG Select (discontinued but grandfathered in), Sapphire Preferred, Freedom Unlimited, and another IHG but for the Premier. The Freedom Flex was my 6th. My 7th was for another Sapphire Preferred SUB.

🐇 Dear Mr. Sebby, today’s video feels very un-caffeinated… are you detoxing from ☕️☕️☕️? Still love your work and life’s passion! Albeit in relatively slow motion 😊
🐇 Great video, Sebby. I regret not getting into Chase early, as I went to cash back maximizing more first. We’re that No. 2 path right now - we just had a baby and our Southwest & CSR w/ AU annual fees are coming next month! We’re in a weird spot though, as our travel will not be gone, just limited. We still want PP because our home airport has a nice lounge, still have Delta status and looking to go to San Diego in July (driving), ACL in Austin in October and NYC in December (flying). As such, we’re thinking of downgrading the CSR after using the travel credit to the CSP and having me get the Venture X as I hold a SavorOne and Spark business card, or jump into Chase since I’m at 4/24. An interesting time to be on both teams right now!

No Amex whatsoever in this video? Surprised. What was your logic behind that?
Optimal strategy is Chase for 5/24, Capital One and anything else sensitive to inquiries, and then Amex at the very end.
