Still keeping my 2018 until the wheels fall off, I am stuck on the V8 sound, planning on getting the Magnuson supercharger and stainless works exhausts.....ROOOAAARRRRR
That sounds like a fun plan! I’ve never driven a supercharged 5.7 Tundra. But I use to own a TRD/Magnuson supercharged 4.0 FJ. It wasn’t nearly as fast as yours will be, but still very fun and reliable!
I bought mine in February. 13k miles and wrecked it. Totalled it out. Paid 68k. Insurance paid 45k for it. Lost 23k on it. Luckily i had gap insurance. The only time i ever paid for gap. Glad i did
The truck doesn't have the features of a 2025 Toyota Tundra, which are standard in the highest-trim 2025 Toyotas. I actually thought that all the highest-trim tundras came with a spray-on bed liner, but this one has just the composite bed liner.
I’m sorry about any confusion, in my video I briefly say this is a used example and the asterisks is explained in my description. This is a recently built 2024, I titled the video the way I did so that anyone currently looking for a new Tundra and watching videos is less likely to miss the engine recall concern, since most other Tundra review videos for 2024 came out months ago before the recall was published.
My understanding is that the debris is eventually blocking the oil channels which then starve the bearings. But I have no clue. There’s also the theory that is a cop out reason blaming manufacturing rather than poor engineering elsewhere. 🤷♂️ Also aren’t there Tundras built around mid 2024 after the recall that are also failing?? I hope they figure it out soon because I really like this new body style!! Thanks for watching and providing more context!
That’s a good question. Honestly, every truck and manufacturer have their minor flaws and it’s tough to speculate what truck has the best chance to meet or exceed your expectations. I personally use to love GM trucks, simple push rod V8 designs that were easy to modify. But since they’ve been having lifter failures and transmission issues, and other brands have had equivalent issues I say drive what makes you happy. If I were to buy a truck today it would be a Tundra for the looks, turbo engine for high elevation, and the roll down window. Or it would be the 5.0 F-150 with plans to modify or Whipple Supercharger down the road. Or a very used TRX haha. I’m sure my thoughts and opinions aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, but best of luck!!
That’s a good point, there’s actually a few more subtle changes for the 2025 beyond those main ones mentioned. But no, this is a late build 2024, in the video I briefly mention it’s used and also document this in the description. I’m sharing this for 2025 as the brief overview and potential warning for those considering a 2025, since the engine recall issue happened after the 2024s already started coming out. Also not knowing when anyone else will address this on the new year Tundra videos now that they’re probably being assembled but some potentially buyers might not be aware of this. And because I can’t assume most of my viewers stay up to date with the latest articles and concerns regarding potential major problems like the engine failures of a random platform. I’m sorry about any disappointment in the year and not mentioning those features as this likely wasn’t the video you were intending to watch and learn from.
It still feels like a truck, high 4x foot turning circle. Basically plan turning accordingly to avoid 3 point turns. But this did drive noticeably better than other full size trucks I’ve driven. Probably partially because it’s not as lifted and more comfortable suspension, which unfortunately does come with the lower payload rating.
I hope people answer your question here. But I think you’ll find a lot more information on a third gen tundra forum like Reddit or social media probably. Thanks for watching!!
Toyota lost me as a future 1/2 ton customer when they ruined the appearance of the Tundra in 2014, and it's all been downhill from that point. The downhill slide continued when they replaced the V8 with the TT V6... I'll just keep driving my 4.7L 2002 and my 5.7L 2007, both aRE SR5 models without all the bells & whistles and both were paid for years ago.
Haha yeah, it ran excellently during the making of this video. I wish these were bulletproof, I really liked it and it drives better than many other full size trucks I’ve been in.
How is it cool? Looks horrible... tons of cheap plastic inside... lots of wind noise inside at speed....worthless rear bumper....motors blowing up.... what am i missing here 🤔.... i should know because i made a mistake and got one....
I’m probably biased towards the Tundra because I use to really like Toyota trucks and have owned a few. But I will say in driving this one the 10 speed shifts pretty quick and the vertical rear window is pretty cool. Also I think these can look a lot better than most other trucks currently sold (depending on cab/bed/trim/color configuration). But I’m sorry you’ve not had the best experience like so many others on this new platform. 😔
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I love the power, and the rear window. I gave the truck to my wife and got a new Silverado zr2 1500. The chevy is better in every way except for power but the duramax gets better mpg
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 to each it's own,But to me looks like the tundra had a Bad wreck and Toyota engineers didn't know how to fix it ,so they just glued broken pieces back together! In fact it's the ugliest truck since the old international trucks!! That's if your old enough to remember
Hahaha. I’m just not a super fan of how a lot of full size trucks look right now. But I will say I have 4 videos on the 2025 TrailBoss and ZR2 I’ll make public soon, I do like how those look. And for the longest time I wasn’t attracted at all to the exterior of the current 4th gen Silverado.
You shouldn’t review 2022 and up Toyota tundra are piece of shit or junk and over price. I love my 2014 TRD of road is way better then a new style. They don’t know to put the tow hook on the truck. Don’t waste your money on a new one folks.
Im still driving my 07 5.7 Tundra since new. I do like the looks. I agree, the price is outrageous.
Very nice Tundra review, wonderful comments on Toyota quality and integrity, I really enjoy your 0 to 60 times, superbly done and super fun to watch
Thanks, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun finally driving getting to drive a third gen Tundra!!
I thought about buying a new Tundra when I bought my Tacoma, but I’m afraid of Turbo’s, so ultimately I decided on my Tacoma
Can’t go wrong with an NA V6 Taco!
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208The 2.7 4 cylinder is even better, it runs literally forever, and you won’t need to worry about speeding tickets.

Ouch! I’m sorry that happened but it’s awesome that this was the vehicle to purchase gap insurance on!! Glad it all worked out.

FYI, the engine recall is not from oil starvation to the main bearings, its machining debris that is destroying the main bearings

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 True anything is possible
The front main bearing got redesigned. Why just that one failing? Not buying the debis story. Either way, I hope it's fixed.
Nice review
Thanks, this was a fun one!
If I wanted to buy pickup truck with Horse power over 380 and luxury what’s the best option available in current market. Appreciate the responses

@ awesome thank you so much for the valuable recommendations.
so the things that were new for 2025 you didn’t review. massaging seats, power up tailgate, new wireless charger. is this really a 2025 model?

None of that stuff matters if it can't be trusted to go from A to B reliably
Nice review
Thanks for watching! This was one really fun to make, I’ve wanted to drive the new Tundra for a while now!
Dude, informative video but one question: When do you breathe?? 👀
Haha thanks, but I’m sorry about that…😅
How is the turning radio in this 6.5 bed?

Reports of continued engine issues keep coming in. I'm not convinced and will wait another six months to see what is happening.
That’s unfortunate, thanks for sharing! Hopefully Toyota can bulletproof this powertrain and fix the interior issues soon!
The F150 doesn't sell near 3/4 of a million. You are mistaking F-series with F150. Ford doesn't report F150 sales, Ford reports F-series sales.
Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying, I don’t remember what I read so it must have been F-series.
I replaced the transmission already. Don’t buy this one.
Oh wow 😮, was this one actually yours? It was fun to drive, but I’m sorry to hear about such a major failure within only a few thousand miles.
Yet people are still buying them...
Jeez
My 13k mile engine is being pulled as we speak!
I’m sorry to hear that! 😔
Good review, but I bet you would be a good auctioneer.
Haha. I definitely should give myself more time to film and slow down a bit. Thanks for watching!
Lol! But all jokes aside you do a good job I enjoyed your video!
Let me be clear with my question?????? Dose anyone own a 2025 and having problems already?

I get that! With what we know about Toyota’s new truck reliability I wouldn’t ever get rid of your first and second gen. Thanks for watching!
Dude, what the hell are you talking about? The 2014 is a better look truck than the 2002. Blame regulations for the shift from V8s. Adapt or stagnate.
@@scorpio_9810 I disagree.
Needs a bigger grille
That would be cool!
No, Really, You like Silver? Who would have ever thought 🤣
This was almost the perfect spec for me to find and drive lol.

Way slower than the F-150 0-60.

Key word !! UGLY!!! 😂
