Yeah not so much he selected the wrong plant. This plant will thrive in water up to 20 ft deep it will take over the entire water weigh it will make it all but impossible to fish it will choke out the sunlight from any other plant species to get a proper footing. You cannot get rid of that plant without using a small tactical nuke🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️. I hope he's only planning on Stocking with shiners Minos yellow-belly catfish and freshwater bowfin. Add some freshwater clam and some giant snails. Maybe some bluegill some pumpkin seed.

@@Kruegernator123 yeah crayfish would help but realistically in less than 5 years without taking any drastic steps. It will be a thick matted Green carpet from the bottom to the top. You get a boat stuck on it🤷‍♂️. He will have to start Waging War with copper sulfate. There's a couple other products out there that will help but it will kill and poison just about everything in there. Even if the instructions say it's not going to cause that much harm to animals and fish. Believe me trust me it will.

    • @jeronimomod156

@@Kruegernator123 really would have liked to see can put a couple small narrow slopes of Fieldstone several Stones deep and started crawdads on it. Plus Minos. And shiners. Make at least one side have a 25 degree slope with sand and place a bunch of freshwater clam. Put in some floating islands with ramps on all four sides for turtles. They're such a myriad of things that could be used 4 natural and or artificial nesting sites for catfish. I just can't believe he put the worst plant you could ever put in your pond in his pond🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

And Note Bass and Minnows Love Algae so as soon as you have enough algae your bass would love it! And If you’d ever put any minnows in the ponds, add more algae so they got food. Also Fact Minnows Eat Algae.

Hornwort is a good food source for ostrocods aka scuds aka seed shrimps. Good food in and of themselves for baby fish and small minnow type fish which make for good feeders for the gar.
