- President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with members and dignitaries in Guatemala as he embarked Saturday on his nine-day ministry in Latin America. The first stop on his five-country ministry was Guatemala City, the country’s capital, known for its ancient Mayan history and nearby volcanos.

@@uthinkiamhot to populate the world we need families... LGBT blocks that process... Broken families fustrate the purpose of life itself. I know that we may not choose if we are gay, at the same time biologically and spiritually if we are thinking to replace and promote LGBT as standard then that is to standardise or own radication as a species. We need to be kind and caring and mindful of other and not at the expense of breaking what makes us. God loves all His children straight or gay, but be real we live in a strange world that is family toxic.
@@uthinkiamhot a civil partnership is binding, I believe that marriage is defined by God. As I understand it at present gay couples who attended our church can with the council of their bishops have their children baptised. I don't wish to offend and respect your opinion. Dialogue is the best way forward I think. The moral standards of the church is that no sexual relations outside of a marriage between the married man and a woman. I believe that to be the standard held by many people of faith ( not just mine) throughout the world. Why would a gay couple wish to be married when God has defined His law on the subject? I have many friends who have different opinions and colours across the political and ethical spectrum on this and many other issues. I think the danger is polarization after all that's when things get nasty, when minorities are marginalized. .... Sometime it seems like God's law doesn't make sense ... Tithing, not drinking alcohol, tea, coffee, going to church every week, temple work... Praying... Can all seem strange... His ways are not ours.. but I have found peace in following them.
@@uthinkiamhot I've been s member since 1974... Our church is not alone in manogamus mortality which is prescribed for all who follow the laws of God. The question is why is the law prescribed. I don't think we are going to agree on this as our opinions are very devided. But I can respect you and your views. The question is do you respect mine? You have said that I do not know my history, even the history that I have lived through, stated that the prophet is in a poligamus marriage but of which we know is not correct. You've implied that the church continued the practice of plural marriage which was discontinued more than 100 years ago. The LGBT community needs defending against abuse but not by abusing others who do not uphold their legitimacy because biologically LGBT is a non starter... But dialogue is vitally important no one should ever be prejudiced against... My views are mine and are valid. How do you feel about that? I claim them, would you judge my views in the same way that you would not have me judge your views? We need, as I see it, to agree to disagree peacefully. It's been good to talk.
@@uthinkiamhot Abraham lived at a different time than ours as did Jacob... As did Joseph Smith... Yes your right I forgot about them because at present we do not live the law of plural marriage. Presently that law is not permissible as it was then. You are correct in this respect. But members who do not live one man one wife are excommunicated from the church in our day.
