    I have had an Advantage Avid for about a year and it has been heavily used. I have noticed that after you sharpen it quite a bit and you really get into the meat of the blade it will not hold an edge like it did when it was new. It still does hold a pretty good edge but when it was new it was rock hard.

    Dude, I love these old fashion knife reviews! No music or long intros... just right into the stuff, to the point, no fuss info. Thanks for the truth about Buck 420HC. So many knife snobs knock it but you sir, are correct... it is excellent for the grade of steel. Thanks for your good work!

    Happy New Years to you too Nutn! Sweet review. I might consider getting a Buck after this. I had a few really old blades given to me by my dad, and the steel sucks, major hard spots. But that vantage pro is sick. Thanks for keeping up the quality and consistency of your reviews. You my friend are unparalleled for reviews. Keep it up. Proud to be TNPr.

    My first real knife was the Buck 110 folding hunter, my dad gave my brother and I one before we went on our first hunting trip. It was his way of saying we were on our way to manhood. It meant a lot to me, it was a token of trust and confidence. I used it to skin my first elk and although I don't do a lot of hunting anymore its still the first thing I think of when I do go out.

    Nice, home-made, affordable blades. I suspect the "affordable" part will be appealing to all who maybe spent a little too much this last Christmas season. I'm very impressed with the fit & finish here, especially the progression from recycled handles to the steel. Very smooth, from the high end model through to the baby brother. I may consider treating myself to one of these as a birthday gift next month. Thanks Nutn.

    Nutnfancy, always love your reviews! Need your thoughts. Can you recommend an EDC that can cross into emergency/self-defense? At this time, I only carry 1 EDC knife. My state limits blades to 3". Although I prefer a blade with more substantial feel, lightweight blades can still gain my confidence. What's the word?

    Hey Nutn, I was wondering what you think of the Buck 110, the classic pocket knife. Its not tacticool or light weight, no gimping and whatnot, but its a strong quality knife. It is the knife you think of if someone says "Buck Knife" that or 119 special. I know its not totally your kind of style but it gets good marks for the quality, and history, not to mention 2nd kind of cool, if i didnt carry mine with me, I'd want it on display, a great looking knife.

    I have 9 of the vantage series knives and have found them to be hit and miss. Some were sharp, some were poorly ground. All had centering issues. My 847 in S30V was ground so poorly I had to re-profile with a lansky, but now is razor sharp. My 346 came razor sharp and opens like it's assisted while others are quite stiff to open even with screw adjustment backed off to where the blade nearly hits the liner. Try to inspect the knife before you buy.

    I've had both the black and blue Vantage Pro $75 for at work EDC, and the old plain black and silver $35 model for at home EDC for about a year. Both S30V. Flip open pretty much sucks on both, especially the old plain one which also has the centering issue. However, the home EDC gets more frequent and harder use, yet is always sharp on demand. The pretty Black and Blue work EDC is used less, mostly for paper and the occasional plastic strapping, yet always needs touching up on the edge.

    Sooooo many knives so little money. Picked up a Select Vantage early in 2011. It is a good EDC blade for the money. It's heavier than my other EDC knives but for the money and USA made its heard to beat. I think you forgot to mention they are all tip up carry. I like tip down but on this knife I like it. Come out of pocket fast and quick. If you haven't picked one up yet your missing out on good value, USA made, knife. Looking to add the smaller vantage to my daily carry. Good update nutnfan

It would be nice to pair it up whit mini version like they did whit the cheapest of the Buck vantage serie, ones that I own and enjoy. Their may not be safe queen but good working everyday knife whit one of the best pocket clip on the market. Thanks again Nutn and Happy and healthy new year to you and your relatives, and to you youtube surfers!!!!

    Hey, all. Here's a question for everyone who owns the Vantage Force Pro. Have any of you had any play on the blade pivot? I carried mine for a couple months and it looks like the liner lock has rubbed off the oxide finish and is starting to scrape away the actual blade blade steel (or the liner lock itself). So now there's some up and down movement in the blade. Has anyone has something similar happen to them? Other than this, the knife is absolute perfection!

    @JaxenChaz it's all about the heat treat benchmade (quality) used alot of 440c and S&W also uses 440c but if you compare the two they are worlds apart,
    btw 440hc loses it's edge pretty fast and is very brittle but sharpens real easy! peace.

    The blade uses the liner lock as a stop pin. ie the liner locks the blade in the up and down position. Anyone else see this as an issues if the knife had to be pressed into emergency defensive use. Most knives use a stop pin so it worries me.

    • @franktheweinerburke
      @franktheweinerburke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ummm, there is stop pin. Not sure what you're talking about.

    • @Robespierres_Ghost
      @Robespierres_Ghost 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Burke
      Wealljuggleknives kindly pointed out that the pin is hidden in the handle near the pivot. I'm used to stop pounds being closet to the top of the handle making them easier to see. I was concerned and left comments on a few vantage videos.

    the vantage force avid has a ravor sharp blade with the 13c26 blade.. but the only downside to the kife is the aluminum handles have sharp edges under the pocket clip. i've had the knife for a day now because i went to Cabela's in WV yesterday. and already a pocket is torn up from the aluminum handles. thinking about sanding the spot where the pocket clip hits the pocket. but idk yet. i kinda wanna wait till i can get Duracoat tho.

    Hey Nutnfancy,
    I have a folding knife made by Böker, just like the ones in your video but unfortunately I'm able to open it with one hand, due to a little pin on the blade. The german knife control law forbids me to carry a knife which can be opened with one hand without a compelling reason.
    So I wanted to know if you could give me some proposal for every-day-knifes that match with our weapon law.
