Having a tent on the grass will damage it if its for more than a few days, it will start to kill it as water and sunlight won't be able to reach it. Its then takes time to then get it back to how it was. Not to mention it looks unsitely. Im guessing the site is very well looked after hence the price you paid. So its understandable they don't want the grass damaged.
Hi and thank you for your message, we understand that awnings can damage the grass and campsites have to deal with this each year however if we were on the grass pitch with an awning would this not be the same? bear in mind it was not the issue it was a fire risk however we were well away from the next unit within the rules. If it was the grass as we first were told then the car wouldn’t have been allowed.
Great campsite review guys, glad they let you keep the awning where it was and didn’t make you move it. We have the same door as you but a narrower version and ours only randomly locks when it feels like it, we’re taking the van back to Brownhills in October for its first service and a few warranty snagging issues, this is one of them. xx
Thank you guys and hope you are both keeping well 😊 Lee is glad he didn’t have to move it too 🤣 We never really thought about the locking being something to do with the door itself and thought maybe it's the connection etc however since we had it replaced it's worked perfectly so definitely get them to look at the door and not try and say otherwise. Glad it's done now just needs it's tattoos back 😊 Hopefully catch up soon and remember we are not far if you need anything ❤️
Loved this guys, we used to stay on the Haven site there but they stopped the touring park, there was a gate at the back that took you out straight on the beach and a nice walk down into town 😊😊
Hi just found your channel and subscribed enjoyed your vlog of this camp sight think they were mean asking you to move your awning , glad you didn’t have too . Looking forward to seeing your travels , thanks for sharing it .
Hi, thank you for subscribing we really do appreciate the support. We thought it was a little off to move the awning seeing as people pay for the space however all ended well. Happy travels 😊
Great vlog as usual guys . We love that area ,we used to go to brean years ago with our tourer ,we stayed on northam farm it’s a great site just on outskirts of brean with a stunning beach just across the road . You should try it .
Thanks, guys hope you're keeping well 😊 we love the area so much to see. We will definitely add that site to our list and try it next time we are there. 🙌
Great to see the new door & alls working as it should. TBH warranty work is pretty poor here in France, we had 3 small jobs to be done & it’s taken 3 months to get sorted. So we are now ready to tour Slovenia & Croatia 👍
Hi, it has taken some time. I'm just glad it's now done well nearly. Sorry, yours is taking so long to get done. Croatia is somewhere we are looking to go to someday as it's a beautiful place 😊 Enjoy your adventures and happy travels 😊
Great video again guys. What a stupid rule that park has, especially knowing you are only there for few nights. My dealer knew about the door decals straight away so I think it’s been an oversight on their part and should have known. My guess Ruby weighs about 4.1t
Hi Mick it was a rule that we didn’t agree with just seemed a little petty. We think ordering the decals when they did was definitely an oversight as you say hopefully they come through before our trip but we will see 👍 If Ruby weighs 4.1T We will be happy with that 😊
Hi Lee and Jodie, we are loving following your van adventures. What a fuss the site made over your awning, glad you got it sorted without too much hassel. We live in Dorset and have just started our own Channel to share some of our caravanning and holiday escapades. You guys have really given us the confidence to give this a bash and bite the bullet to get going. It would be great to learn more about some of the events you have attended, do they welcome caravans or just vans? We stayed at Home Farm a short while ago and love the site though the swimming pool outdoors was only half open which a bit odd. Hopefully we will achieve some more subscribers but we all have to start somewhere. Thanks for giving us the boost to be brave to share!😊
Hi, Thank you for your kind message it really does mean a lot to us and glad we have inspired you to make your own videos of your adventures. There are many shows that go on over the year and even though most come with a vanlife title it is normally possible to take a caravan or even tents as there is areas for them. You can find many event advertisements on social sites such as Facebook or instagram. There is the Warners shows that are great you can find here - www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/shows Shame the swimming pool wasn’t fully open as that does seem odd but glad you enjoyed your stay there. Good luck with your channel as I'm sure it will do great 😊
Hi guys, recently subscribed and love the channel. We are on the start of our hunt for our motorhome. Do you mind us asking how you are finding life with the Swift? We are looking at them as an option. Cheers and keep the great vids coming, really are great.
Hi and thank you for subscribing we really appreciate it 😊 We personally love our Swift, yes it's had a few teething problems as all motorhomes do but overall it's great. We find the overall build quality good. The way we look at it is go for the motorhome you like making sure you have the layout for you. Remember layout is key here as the motorhome needs to work for your way of living and travelling. Problems can arise on any motorhome new or old and some motorhomes seem to have more issues than others even being the same year and make etc so get things corrected as when they pop up under warranty. If you look back at some of our past videos you will see some of the issues we have had but they are all corrected now with only a couple of small jobs to finish off. Also there is lots of 3rd party attachments that go in to any motorhome no matter what brand motorhome and these can fail like any home appliance but like we say for the overall build quality we haven’t any complaints at all. Hope this helps and as always happy travels on you new adventures 😊
@@lifes4touring Cheers for the reply and very useful information/advice. We live on a boat and we keep saying like you the layout is key! Motorhomes seem similar to boats in that there are lots of different layouts! The search continues! Thanks again. Darren & Wendy.
Very interesting re the door . Mine on our 2023 784 is being replaced . Dealer has ordered under Swift warranty - will need to check they sort the decals . At least they let you keep the awning up . Have a great time on the trip to Spain . Will be interested to see what you do with the water as am thinking of moving mine .
Hi, Thank you we can't wait to get back to Spain 😊. Yes definitely check with your dealer to make sure they have been ordered as the door doesn’t come from Swift however the decals do. We will be sorting the water out on our return now as no time so that will be a winter job. We will put a video up when it's done 👍 Happy travels 😊
Totally agree the warranty work was to replace the door. This included the decal. So they should have ordered ALL the parts to complete the job. ???? Think that someone missed the point that the decals were an additional item thatbwere not supplied with the door.... hmmm. However glad that it is getting sorted now. Looking forward to your vl9g from your europe travels....
Hi, it was definitely an oversight without an apology, if they had just said they made a mistake rather than saying it's just cosmetics it wouldn’t have got our backs up as much. Thank you for your support guys and happy travels 😊
We’ve had similar issues with our hexaway. We love the awning but find the tunnel sags so much when attached it collects water and you can’t open the door!! For that reason, like you did there we prefer it separate to the van…..only then the site call it a gazebo, which it clearly isn’t. With the tunnel attached it comes out well over 3m from the van and won’t fit on most handstand pitches…catch 22 really. I’m glad they showed some flexibility and didn’t make you move it. Looking forward to your Spain trip. BW Lyndon
Hi and thank you. Like you, we find it better not to attach the awning just personal preference and nothing is normally said. Just glad we could keep it that way for one more night. Happy travels 😊
Hi Lee, we have been awaiting 12 months... we had a similar problem plus other issues after purchasing our MH last August from was supposedly a respectable dealership and with so many promises we still find ourselves awaiting parts and poor service commitments.. its becoming a absolute shenanigans
Hi sorry to hear about your issues and that it's taking so long, maybe look for a new place that can work on your warranty work as it sounds like they are stringing you along. We would as there are great places out there that would definitely help out and push things along for you. Hope you get the issues sorted soon and enjoying your adventures 😊
What a stupid rule , pleased they let you leave it there for the last night , lovely following your travels we met you at the nurseries at Mumby last year we were a few pitches down from you with our friends and you showed me and my husband around your gorgeous Motorhome xx
Definitely, a stupid rule that to be fair had no meaning and they changed the reason why it had to be moved. We do remember you guys and hope you are doing well as it was lovely to meet you. Hopefully, we will meet again soon on our travels.
Hi Both We have a Swift Bessacar. Five years old. Same hab door issues as you had but Brownhills dealership saying door not covered under 10 year body shell warranty. Which warranty did you use for your repair. Hope you don’t mind us asking. The quote for new door is astronomical. Thank you.
Hi, we are still within the 3-year warranty with Swift so assuming it's with them unfortunately we can’t confirm if you will be covered under the shell warranty. Sad this has also happened to you and we hope you get it sorted without cost to you as it's a known fault.
I could understand with having a ground sheet you would kill the grass over a large area. Whereas the car is only on s small area of grass. If its for fire risk it will be their insurance requirements.
It could kill the grass over time but not over 2 days and bearing in mind others had the same even if it was attached to the motorhome where the awning stretched out onto the grass and there for a 2 week holiday. So we was no different. As for the fire risk where the rules are - To avoid the spread of fire, there must be at least 6 metres spacing between facing walls of adjacent caravans, motorhomes or trailer tents and a minimum clear space of 3 metres between adjoining cars/awnings/tents and other items (including windbreaks) in any direction. We was well within these guidelines. The issue was they believed it to be a gazebo/tent where you would need a separate pitch, an awning can be part of your set-up. Unfortunately they didn’t like the fact it was indeed a driveaway awning so within the rules. All was good in the end once they accepted the fact 😊
@@lifes4touring yes I guess is was borderline, as you were using it as a tent. No, it wouldn't harm for a couple of days, but then someone else would be pointing at you and saying if they're allowed, why can't I.
It wasn’t borderline it was a driveaway awning, it can only be one or the other and many people use the awnings with sleeping areas again no different. We could have attached the awning and still used it the same way. They made an assumption it was a gazebo/tent without asking first. Happy travels 😊
With respect, I would expect an awning to be attached to the motor home. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, you appear to have a large tent which would not meet the criteria to class it as an awning. This is just my opinion and I would gracefully accept being corrected if my view is wrong. Kind regards.
It can be mistaken for a tent when not attached to the motorhome however it is actually a drveaway awning. In future we will make sure it is closer to the motorhome so we can attach it if we need to. Happy Travels 😊
