in India low price and fuel economy takes precedence over safety xD .
+Dodo M As much as i want safety, and I drive a passat, To be practical, here in india, speically in the cities, you dont get to go over 60km/h... Almost never.....
+Dodo M safety maintained according to Indian standards and it has been made on a frame that it could handle most of the crashes (not that we would want that to happen). also it is a small car and will be ideal for city driving when the traffic wont let you go above 50. seems to be fair. they might bring in more safety features with their next models.

car..... looks like toy door.... the material used in dash board is very
cheap .... Hyundai EON or Alto 800 are surely better quality than this
car......It might end up like NANO car in future....

Hey gautam. I understand it's 4 lakhs car.... but dude plz understand that I have Eon at home . My wife is using it... and have tested maruthi alto.... both has a quality factor associated with it....u need to really drive all these cars to understand the difference
+Ranjan Jazz agree with whatever ranjan said.d bumper is really soft n plastic chain grills around logo are of really cheap plastic nt at al of acceptable quality. n doors are really thin a small crash wid dis car wil cost a lots quality in hyundai n maruti are very good b it metal or plastics.

This is what I was waiting for, renuka kirplani reviewing the renault kwid.
99% customers of Kwid are unsatisfied. Because of, poor mileage(10-13/pl), weak & noisy engine, poor service.I have been suffering since 1 year for this bloody Kwid...plz don't go for it.
What is then the 25 kmpl
kwid is a game changer to its segment, no more boring alto, dull eon , dumb i10, nedry liva ... ahh kwid looks refreshing and value for money. this will sure make a big seller to the Indian market, for years to come.
This is the moment i waited for from may 21., anyways i already booked the car., this is one of my dream car.,
I'd be surprised if they don't roll out a 1000cc variant of this nice car.

Living in the UK, I wonder how much it costs car companies all over the world to make adjustments here and there, and think up different names for models which are basically the same cars but sold in different global markets.
Other than internal finish and a few external body tweaks, the Renault Kwid is sold in the UK as the Renault Captur. I'm sure only having to build one body shell and having one global name for this and many other models would save manufacturers millions, if not billions all around the world. A large chunk of those savings could be passed on to us all when paying for our new cars. Just a thought!
+Itzdat Managgen All manufacturers these days are experts at reducing costs, and Renault-Nissan definitely among the best. This Kwid isn't the same as the EU market Captur, it's on a new platform. Sure it may share a lot of stuff with other models (I'd imagine that would be more with the Dacia range than Renault), but it is a different "beast". :))
I'm curious whether they'll bring it to Europe, perhaps in the Dacia lineup below the Sandero. Of course, they'd have to add stuff required by EU law like airbags, ABS, ESP, tire pressure monitoring.
+Itzdat Managgen The Captur and this are not the same at all, the Captur is a much better car.
+sssssneaker Just checked, the Kwid's wheelbase is only 7 inches shorter than the Captur, yet it's a massive 430kg lighter - do you think they forgot to put an engine and gearbox in it or something? LOL
Also, listening to this review, it sounds like practicality is a lot more important in the Indian car market than safety - which seems a bit weird? Lots of boot space but ABS and even airbags being an option!
They don't even have crash tests as far as I know. They just want something that gets them around for cheap, especially in this segment.
+Itzdat Managgen Yes. It all depends on which segment you are competing and what your competitors offer. This is an "A" segment car, which is to be priced in the range of 3-4 Lakh rupees(2900-3900 pounds approx.) Couldn't expect more as even a difference of 10,000 to 20,000 rupees will drive away potential customers.

this car, it is gonna be a very-very-very tough decision.
When is the AMT version of Kwid slated to release in India? Will they cost it around the same lines?
What about the air con and cooling efficiency? Did it weigh the car's performance down when on? These are relevant for a car in this class too.
Well, Renault have finally stepped into Indian Market's demanded segment. And it does fell very good to look at this KWID at standstill and so does it impress in the way it rides. Looking forward to a comparo to find out Who's best in the Business.
Saw this at the Global Investors Meet in Chennai and although its a beautiful car and a tough competitor to the Suzuki Alto and Eon which seem pale in comparison, if Renault can pull off a good A.S.S, then they have a winner on their hands! Although how many Indians can relinquish their monotonous, boring infatuation with baby Marutis- trust the Kwid- its better value and has Renault engineering to back it up!

One look at the kwid, and it's begging to have alloy wheels and ovrm - a rather easy after-market upgrade, and it'll be a looker!

In Pune..On road price is 4.31 L. I like this car and waiting for test drive.
For Renault only duster clicked . Can kwid do it for them , we need to see . Not much is expected for a 800cc car , but price matters . If price is similar to alto 800 , definitely a game changer .
The safety features?? Would like to see this car go through the NCAP tests!
Only it's pricing will decide it's fate. Quite a good car though.
My dad always told me to shift a gear down when overtaking, so I guess this shouldn't be a problem for me :P
Plus, no airbags on any variant? No problemo. Our Maruti 800's brakes are shot and the only thing keeping the handbrake working is a wheel from a child's toy, haha, seriously. This car would be quite an upgrade and a welcome addition at that for me.
Are they planning an AMT / AT version? If so, it will be a killer! I will go for it.

Me abhi alto 800 use karta hu abhi liye huye 1 year bhi nahi huye but Abhi me kwid lene ka planing kar raha hu so suggest me kwid is better than alto 800 or not

As long as you do not go mountain climbing, you will be just fine with this car. A compelling package giving excellent value.
Just got the price of this car is 4.3 lakh for top model (Chandigarh).. Thats really impressive..
it would be good if u mention ur height when in back seat so that we can estimate the head/leg room for tall ppl...
Watch for cows and buffalos on the streets. One hit and your 600kg fragile Kwid will be history.

They are all garbage compared to small cars available in the West and japan. But the Kwid is at least not cramped or ugly like Alto/Eon. All are equally unsafe too,but the kwid is a bit bigger. You cant blame them as they are sold at razor thin margins.

The Renault Kwid price in India starts at INR 2.57 lakh and goes up to INR 3.53 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi.
When is the 1 Liter engine coming? This ride and quality deserve that much needed power boost for inclines and about....Renault, please get the 1 Litre engine and ABS ASAP! (I'm waiting for a power to weight ratio of a 70-80 bhp engine on this car and ABS on it to help brake safely.)

should have had a bigger engine option too. 800 cc is too 80s and 90s
+rohit r those variants would have come with a significantly higher price tag too....this essentially was made to rival the cars that have the smallest engines....and if u ask me, 800 cc with 53 bhp and almost 8kgm of torque will do a decent job in carrying the super low 660kgs of weight around....just don't expect too much out of it and always remember how much you've got for how little an amount...and you'll be good to go. Personally I would just upsize to 185/60 r15s and it would look perfectt :-)
you do know that BMW i8 has 3 cylinder 1.5L engine right ? it not about displacement, it's all about how refined the vehicle is.
The BMW i8 is powered by a twin scroll turbo engine that produces 231bhp. how can you even compare a 2.3 cr car with this one?
All I was saying is a higher cap engine should have been offered at least as an option to go with the butch looks
I did not take i8 as a comparison but it was a figurative speech to say apart from its displacement it's worth for what we pay . The rumors are that renault have plans for another petrol engine option in kwid rohit r .. They might pack power in it : ).
