+Sayak Banerjee, I did a test drive of this car and I am sure this will be a flop vehicle in future.... Its just like bubble about to explode... Its too much of Hype.......The vehicle has Kerb weight of 660 KGS !!!!! Really ???? It will be sure shot trouble in highways..... the space inside the car is cramped , very little space ......doors are too small to get in the car..... looks like toy door.... the material used in dash board is very cheap .... Hyundai EON or Alto 800 are surely better quality than this car......It might end up like NANO car in future....
Hey gautam. I understand it's 4 lakhs car.... but dude plz understand that I have Eon at home . My wife is using it... and have tested maruthi alto.... both has a quality factor associated with it....u need to really drive all these cars to understand the difference
+Ranjan Jazz agree with whatever ranjan said.d bumper is really soft n plastic chain grills around logo are of really cheap plastic nt at al of acceptable quality. n doors are really thin a small crash wid dis car wil cost a lots quality in hyundai n maruti are very good b it metal or plastics.
+Dodo M As much as i want safety, and I drive a passat, To be practical, here in india, speically in the cities, you dont get to go over 60km/h... Almost never.....
+Dodo M safety maintained according to Indian standards and it has been made on a frame that it could handle most of the crashes (not that we would want that to happen). also it is a small car and will be ideal for city driving when the traffic wont let you go above 50. seems to be fair. they might bring in more safety features with their next models.
+Amrit Singh Same here, will see it personally and decide. The confusing part is all colors look good on this car, it is gonna be a very-very-very tough decision.
99% customers of Kwid are unsatisfied. Because of, poor mileage(10-13/pl), weak & noisy engine, poor service.I have been suffering since 1 year for this bloody Kwid...plz don't go for it.
Living in the UK, I wonder how much it costs car companies all over the world to make adjustments here and there, and think up different names for models which are basically the same cars but sold in different global markets. Other than internal finish and a few external body tweaks, the Renault Kwid is sold in the UK as the Renault Captur. I'm sure only having to build one body shell and having one global name for this and many other models would save manufacturers millions, if not billions all around the world. A large chunk of those savings could be passed on to us all when paying for our new cars. Just a thought!
+Itzdat Managgen All manufacturers these days are experts at reducing costs, and Renault-Nissan definitely among the best. This Kwid isn't the same as the EU market Captur, it's on a new platform. Sure it may share a lot of stuff with other models (I'd imagine that would be more with the Dacia range than Renault), but it is a different "beast". :)) I'm curious whether they'll bring it to Europe, perhaps in the Dacia lineup below the Sandero. Of course, they'd have to add stuff required by EU law like airbags, ABS, ESP, tire pressure monitoring.
+sssssneaker Just checked, the Kwid's wheelbase is only 7 inches shorter than the Captur, yet it's a massive 430kg lighter - do you think they forgot to put an engine and gearbox in it or something? LOL Also, listening to this review, it sounds like practicality is a lot more important in the Indian car market than safety - which seems a bit weird? Lots of boot space but ABS and even airbags being an option!
+Itzdat Managgen Yes. It all depends on which segment you are competing and what your competitors offer. This is an "A" segment car, which is to be priced in the range of 3-4 Lakh rupees(2900-3900 pounds approx.) Couldn't expect more as even a difference of 10,000 to 20,000 rupees will drive away potential customers.
kwid is a game changer to its segment, no more boring alto, dull eon , dumb i10, nedry liva ... ahh kwid looks refreshing and value for money. this will sure make a big seller to the Indian market, for years to come.
+Bharani Krishna Seriously why cant they go betond 1 ltr or 1.2 litre in India...fuckin rip off when at the same price in Aus we get small cars with min 1.2 and goes upto 2.5 with some being turbocharged.
Saw this at the Global Investors Meet in Chennai and although its a beautiful car and a tough competitor to the Suzuki Alto and Eon which seem pale in comparison, if Renault can pull off a good A.S.S, then they have a winner on their hands! Although how many Indians can relinquish their monotonous, boring infatuation with baby Marutis- trust the Kwid- its better value and has Renault engineering to back it up!
+Aditya C.R "Monotonous, boring infactuation" - Little overboard there poking noses into other's likes. Renault started good with Duster but too early to criticize Maruti for a newer brand!
+Aditya C.R You are right, Kwid is something new on the table and people will finally take a step towards trying something new. Design wise nothing like it in the market.
Me abhi alto 800 use karta hu abhi liye huye 1 year bhi nahi huye but Abhi me kwid lene ka planing kar raha hu so suggest me kwid is better than alto 800 or not
As its very light weight car, is it safe to drive on express ways? Will it shake or loose control when any big vehicle will pass near by with high speed say 100+ & kwid is also on 100?
I see this is the first video review in the TH-cam as per my understanding!!!! Thank you for the great review, The Car is outstanding. and review from Renuka added more flavor.
Well, Renault have finally stepped into Indian Market's demanded segment. And it does fell very good to look at this KWID at standstill and so does it impress in the way it rides. Looking forward to a comparo to find out Who's best in the Business.
My dad always told me to shift a gear down when overtaking, so I guess this shouldn't be a problem for me :P Plus, no airbags on any variant? No problemo. Our Maruti 800's brakes are shot and the only thing keeping the handbrake working is a wheel from a child's toy, haha, seriously. This car would be quite an upgrade and a welcome addition at that for me.
For Renault only duster clicked . Can kwid do it for them , we need to see . Not much is expected for a 800cc car , but price matters . If price is similar to alto 800 , definitely a game changer .
+rohit r those variants would have come with a significantly higher price tag too....this essentially was made to rival the cars that have the smallest engines....and if u ask me, 800 cc with 53 bhp and almost 8kgm of torque will do a decent job in carrying the super low 660kgs of weight around....just don't expect too much out of it and always remember how much you've got for how little an amount...and you'll be good to go. Personally I would just upsize to 185/60 r15s and it would look perfectt :-)
The BMW i8 is powered by a twin scroll turbo engine that produces 231bhp. how can you even compare a 2.3 cr car with this one? All I was saying is a higher cap engine should have been offered at least as an option to go with the butch looks
I did not take i8 as a comparison but it was a figurative speech to say apart from its displacement it's worth for what we pay . The rumors are that renault have plans for another petrol engine option in kwid rohit r .. They might pack power in it : ).
+lalit nagrath good... however I feel pity for the skinny tires and 3 bolts lock. Do these factors make any difference if we run this car on mountainous roads..?
Quick and Informative video! One look at the kwid, and it's begging to have alloy wheels and ovrm - a rather easy after-market upgrade, and it'll be a looker!
The hype for cars like these show Indians bother only about looks. They dont even wait to read about the performances, spare parts cost and maintenance reviews. So Renault seems to be super intelligent in understand and exploiting this Indian thinking!
They are all garbage compared to small cars available in the West and japan. But the Kwid is at least not cramped or ugly like Alto/Eon. All are equally unsafe too,but the kwid is a bit bigger. You cant blame them as they are sold at razor thin margins.
please come soon with the new variant the asta(O) of elite i20 which gets the touchscreen infotainment system i am planning to buy this variant in new year so i want to see it before buying it please come soon
When is the 1 Liter engine coming? This ride and quality deserve that much needed power boost for inclines and about....Renault, please get the 1 Litre engine and ABS ASAP! (I'm waiting for a power to weight ratio of a 70-80 bhp engine on this car and ABS on it to help brake safely.)
+Asif Bhat go for the metallic colour like grey or other metallic shades ... it looks like imported car when metallic,,.... but i looks very bad in white
Its really a nice looking car.....but it should have atleast 1000cc engine, power windows at rear, and more bhp, more weight. And more importantly it has no safety feature.( horrible) Should i go for buying ths car or a second hand car??? like wagon R??? plz help...
@autocar_India, Can reviewer comment about the A.C. in 800 cc car. What is the performance of the car with A.C. on and how good it is with four people and A.C. powered on. How effective is A.C. in the car ? #RenaultKwid #Renault #AutocarIndia
Guys can anyone please share his real reviews about this car. I mean i have booked this car and also interested to cancel the booking and buy swift diesel. Because i have heard that nose is high, material or accessory is not that good. Also not with alloy wheel. About milage there is not a real comment.. About hills driving no comments, how's factory fittd music system.. ? Light quality in nights. ? I am liltle confused.
I have no idea when the scene is going to change in the Indian market when it comes to cars. Compared to what you get abroad for these prices, this is sub par. Or some might say it's even worse. Why aren't they doing anything about it when the consumption is so high? What ticks me off about the cars they're introducing into our market is that they are focusing too much on touch-screen head units than the over-all plastic which really needs some upgrade.
Only con is 800cc engine. If it had 1200cc engine it would have beaten celerio and even swift in the competition since it offers more backseat space, high ground clearance, sporty look and large boot capacity(300 ltrs) than swift and celerio.
Here comes the game changer. This car will redefine what Indians think as a small compact "people's car".
+Sayak Banerjee How???? This gonna change nothing about whatever you said.

Aah, finally a video review of Kwid! You made my day @Autocar India :)
Who needs airbags or ABS? We die like real men!
haha good one
lokesh vashisht Exactly..it is ok for enthusiasts cars but for a family vehicle? I think Renault should have done better with this.
Umesh Kodippili hahahaha 😂😂😂
dude you are the man🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
F*ck yeah!!
660 Kg for a car? Wow, there is nothing like this in Europe. Safety is out the window i guess...
in India low price and fuel economy takes precedence over safety xD .
+Dodo M As much as i want safety, and I drive a passat, To be practical, here in india, speically in the cities, you dont get to go over 60km/h... Almost never.....

Now my only confusion is that which colour should I go for

+Amrit Singh bro i suggests i20.....:D

this car, it is gonna be a very-very-very tough decision.

They don't even have crash tests as far as I know. They just want something that gets them around for cheap, especially in this segment.
+Itzdat Managgen Yes. It all depends on which segment you are competing and what your competitors offer. This is an "A" segment car, which is to be priced in the range of 3-4 Lakh rupees(2900-3900 pounds approx.) the best car in this segment.Without a doubt.
Looks surely its a game changer in 800CC segment. lets see how its work..
kwid is a game changer to its segment, no more boring alto, dull eon , dumb i10, nedry liva ... ahh kwid looks refreshing and value for money. this will sure make a big seller to the Indian market, for years to come.
I'd be surprised if they don't roll out a 1000cc variant of this nice car.
+Thulasi Krishnan Don't be as a 1L variant is on the works!
+Bharani Krishna Seriously why cant they go betond 1 ltr or 1.2 litre in India...fuckin rip off when at the same price in Aus we get small cars with min 1.2 and goes upto 2.5 with some being turbocharged.

This is what I was waiting for, renuka kirplani reviewing the renault kwid.
Same to same hamare pass hai
Me abhi alto 800 use karta hu abhi liye huye 1 year bhi nahi huye but Abhi me kwid lene ka planing kar raha hu so suggest me kwid is better than alto 800 or not
This is the moment i waited for from may 21., anyways i already booked the car., this is one of my dream car.,
when is it coming to market?
What about the air con and cooling efficiency? Did it weigh the car's performance down when on? These are relevant for a car in this class too.
Surely this car will be the milestone in renault India., i'm sure this will go sales more than duster as well as any other budget cars in india
Well, Renault have finally stepped into Indian Market's demanded segment. And it does fell very good to look at this KWID at standstill and so does it impress in the way it rides. Looking forward to a comparo to find out Who's best in the Business.
When is the AMT version of Kwid slated to release in India? Will they cost it around the same lines?
kwid vs eon 800cc, which one is better? heard about vibrations in eon.
My dad always told me to shift a gear down when overtaking, so I guess this shouldn't be a problem for me :P

What about the crash test as is goin to sale on large scale
hows kwid?? performance, services???
awesome car with great looks! just one glitch its engine-799cc...
is this the basic model of kwid or the top end. which is being used for the review
looks 5stars eager to buy 1 waiting for festive season.
For Renault only duster clicked . Can kwid do it for them , we need to see . Not much is expected for a 800cc car , but price matters . If price is similar to alto 800 , definitely a game changer .
Plz show me the comparison between RENAULT FLUENCE & VW JETTA 2015.
I love this Car..When is the Launching ??
Kwid is Good car I booked it got #130 waiting and will be delivered hope fully by the end of December,,,,
+Dawar Khan did you get your car?
+Shashwat Singh yes! jan 1st week
+Dawar Khan I too have booked my kwid , waiting for its arrival . Have you faced any problems or shortcomings till now ?
+vaibhav mathur Congrats you all just bought a fancy Maruti 800....
on road price ex-showroom mumbai will be 3.5 lakhs - mainly meant for working woman.
is it worth to buy this car? heard that there is so sound and performance is not up to the mark and also long drive is not good. please clarify
should have had a bigger engine option too. 800 cc is too 80s and 90s
+rohit r those variants would have come with a significantly higher price tag too....this essentially was made to rival the cars that have the smallest engines....and if u ask me, 800 cc with 53 bhp and almost 8kgm of torque will do a decent job in carrying the super low 660kgs of weight around....just don't expect too much out of it and always remember how much you've got for how little an amount...and you'll be good to go. you do know that BMW i8 has 3 cylinder 1.5L engine right ? it not about displacement, it's all about how refined the vehicle is.
The BMW i8 is powered by a twin scroll turbo engine that produces 231bhp. how can you even compare a 2.3 cr car with this one?
All I was saying is a higher cap engine should have been offered at least as an option to go with the butch looks

☺
its worth among others in this segment, overall its a renault product.. the brand name has its own quality.. really a good choice...
okay, I hope so,it will b a trend setter for all entry level owners.
very good among similar.
The safety features?? Would like to see this car go through the NCAP tests!
Is their automatic version for kwid if yes i will buy it closing my eyes
Hey i heard that kwid weights just 660kg. Is it a save car?
guys do not wait go to showroom and buy this car for me its the best car in its segment
In Pune..On road price is 4.31 L. I like this car and waiting for test drive.
good and very detailed review and first one .
autocar India is always the first kudos
Is it true that dealers are sold kwid in black?
Are they planning an AMT / AT version? If so, it will be a killer! I will go for it.
Should one buy the kwid or a second hand Swift diesel ?
dude u can't just compare wid dis and dat too diesel
Second hand cars in India are just a crap. Better go for kwid
Imperial791 i just wanted a suggestion btwn Segment A firsthand cars vs 2nd hand segment B cars :-)
+Balaji Chandrasekaran Wear and tear of Mechanical Parts in Second hand Cars are high and thus its Maintenance Cost. Go for New Car .
+Balaji Chandrasekaran You should buy the Kwid since it will have a higher fuel efficiency than your swift and also it will be a new car.
Hey.. what about mileage??
how is it going to perform on the roads of Himachal and UK..? mountainous terrain ..??
+Saliim Mohammed i beleive good as max torque is at 1200 rpm. still wait for more reviews to pour in
+lalit nagrath good... however I feel pity for the skinny tires and 3 bolts lock. Do these factors make any difference if we run this car on mountainous roads..?
As long as you do not go mountain climbing, you will be just fine with this car. A compelling package giving excellent value.
Does this car come in an automatic transmission ?
what are the variant options does it comes in diesel version as well?
+IKBAL SINGH HORA It does not come with diesel though Renault introduced a 1 L Petrol and 1 L Petrol AMT
Which will be available after 5 to 6 months
Only it's pricing will decide it's fate. Quite a good car though.
Quick and Informative video!
One look at the kwid, and it's begging to have alloy wheels and ovrm - a rather easy after-market upgrade, and it'll be a looker!
how much road prise in 2018 model
Boy this car is good. Indian car market needs more winners like this. It can't and should not remain a Maruti only market forever.
The hype for cars like these show Indians bother only about looks. They dont even wait to read about the performances, spare parts cost and maintenance reviews.
So Renault seems to be super intelligent in understand and exploiting this Indian thinking!
Well said!
+thiruvetti This car is not complicated at all. You can fix it at home if you have a spanner.
naxT890 hopefully you have touched this car! I will still wait for the 6 month usage review!
thiruvetti I own a Mustang which i fix and maintain in my own garage. So this would be a piece of cake.
naxT890 Is there anything specific in just this car that makes it easy or do u feel any small car is easily fixable?
Hope they also come with a bigger sub 4 meter kwid, 1000 cc with good turning radius in 5-6 lacs.
Can we expect a soon comparison between Kwid, Alto and Eon ?
+Ashutosh Pati Its always better than Alto and Eon as per the specs described by Renault... however rest depends on end user's reviews.......
Just got the price of this car is 4.3 lakh for top model (Chandigarh).. Thats really impressive..
The Renault Kwid price in India starts at INR 2.57 lakh and goes up to INR 3.53 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi.
is it based on dacia pieces and chassis ?
yeah even the design
When will ford expedition in india
Watch for cows and buffalos on the streets. One hit and your 600kg fragile Kwid will be history.
of course, your hunky Alto/Eon will do much better . Just bang their doors and feel how solid they are!!!!
+Jay Man you sound like alto hater. where did i mention I own an Alto??? Focus on Kwid and see how shitty this garbage is!
They are all garbage compared to small cars available in the West and japan. But the Kwid is at least not cramped or ugly like Alto/Eon. All are equally unsafe too,but the kwid is a bit bigger. You cant blame them as they are sold at razor thin margins.
please come soon with the new variant the asta(O) of elite i20 which gets the touchscreen infotainment system
i am planning to buy this variant in new year so i want to see it before buying it
please come soon
what is on road price in rajasthan
Great Review.. Looking forward for in depth review covering different variants.
This car is revolutionary good job Renault Autocar keep up the good work you guys are best
What could be the possible top speed of this car and also approxmite max speed with in control? Can any one
+ABHAY KUMAR That would be "slow" :))
+ABHAY KUMAR I remember seeing 140 Kmph somewhere. "Within Control" depends on the driver's ability and a situation. So can't define it.
+Bharani Krishna Kwid has not been launched yet,so did you really saw the kwid on road? But Could be seen Kwid pre launch testing car?
When is the 1 Liter engine coming? This ride and quality deserve that much needed power boost for inclines and about....Renault, please get the 1 Litre engine and ABS ASAP! (I'm waiting for a power to weight ratio of a 70-80 bhp engine on this car and ABS on it to help brake safely.)
Sorry for my ignorance , how much this car in Euros or $ ... the indian model .
Around €4000 (+100 -100). Pretty amazing right ? ;)
why the rear view mirrors looks different from the brochure?
very bad car.
Now my only confusion is that which colour should I go for..............................
+Asif Bhat go for the metallic colour like grey or other metallic shades ... it looks like imported car when metallic,,.... but i looks very bad in white
Asif Bhat all colours look beautiful after little modification
Which is the song in the background when the car is initially introduced. Can someone please let me know

2.57 to 3.53 lakh for #Renault Kwid . 800cc
hey Renuka big fan of ur review....
u r no.1
Its really a nice looking car.....but it should have atleast 1000cc engine, power windows at rear, and more bhp, more weight. And more importantly it has no safety feature.( horrible)
Should i go for buying ths car or a second hand car??? like wagon R??? plz help...
Good design, and nice storage but engine CC should have been given at least 1200. so that it could have been kayos..
renault pls have dealership here in philippines
it would be good if u mention ur height when in back seat so that we can estimate the head/leg room for tall ppl...
@autocar_India, Can reviewer comment about the A.C. in 800 cc car.
What is the performance of the car with A.C. on and how good it is with four people and A.C. powered on.
How effective is A.C. in the car ?
#RenaultKwid #Renault #AutocarIndia
what is its topp speed?
Is this a 0.8L car
Just squeeze a 1.0 or 1.1 litre engine in the bonnet
Guys can anyone please share his real reviews about this car. I mean i have booked this car and also interested to cancel the booking and buy swift diesel. Hey Renuka Can u please do a review of Mahindra Thar On the Road Rather Than The Offroad
I have no idea when the scene is going to change in the Indian market when it comes to cars. Compared to what you get abroad for these prices, this is sub par. Or some might say it's even worse. great work and good computation for hyundai eon!!!!!!!!!!!!
AUTOMATIC. WHAT THIS CAR NEEDS IS AN AUTOMATIC VERSION.. :D
coming next year.
