I just use the blade modifier from the rich barber. I haven't had a bad batch babyliss fx trimmer. The different blades that come on them is a different story. In regards to your car reference the motor of the clippers is like The engine of a car. The more power you have the more you can do with it. The blades would be the equivalent of the tires. All the power in the world means nothing if you don’t have traction. Traction is just as important in the same way that the blades are important because they channel that power into a specific point the same way the blades do their part when trimming the hair
This method doesn't sharpen the part of the blade that cuts. He even said these clippers get sharper over time, I can't attest to that or no. but you have to separate the blades.

Question idk if you’ll see this but I wanna hear your opinion do you buy replacement blades or do you just continue to sharpen your blades when they get dull??
So I just got the Stylecraft Saber trimmer. It hits nice. But here is a relevant question for you coming from a hobbyist haircutter and straight razor and knife collecter for 25 years. What grit stone are you using to sharpen your trimmer blades? Can you reset the bevel at 1000 grit and hone the blades to 12k or higher to make super sharp and smooth. Why don't you wet hone on the stone?
Bruh too sharp trimmers and you gonna split someone scalp open 😂. Not an expert but have had some razor sharp trimmers split me open (75% of my hairline bleeding). Then they rub alcohol on it. Nah homie I need stitches after this.
No…sir…! I always have to explain to people that there’s no such thing as “too sharp”… if the trimmers are cutting you AT ALL, it’s because the moving blade is cutting your skin.. which means it’s sticking out further than the fixed blade. This means they’re not properly adjusted. A lot of amateur barbers and/or clients get that confused.
@@swizzlecuts5004 Yup! "Zero Gap" means setting the cutting blade 1/32" in relation to the comb or fixed blade. The cutting blade should not be flush or above the fixed blade or you will cut someone. All clippers and trimmers are like reciprocating electric hedge pruners or trimmers. The sharper the better. In general. People get injured more from dull blades than sharp ones because the finer and cleaner the cut the easier it is for the skin to fuse. But also the sharper, the deeper the cut will go. Accidents happen because of dull blades and too much unnecessary pressure.
Can anyone vouch and confirm that this actually works? I did it to my blade and wondering how long it will last or if I’ll have to replace it sooner since it’s sharpened.
babyliss blades have a sweet spot sometimes it takes a few times to set the blade right to get that spot and get them hitting right. these blades are so sharp you dont have to gap them too close they will cause a lot of irritation
Brooo it drives me nuts. U gotta get them to that perfect spot and DONT fuck with them no more. U find that sweet spot and they hit so hard, but if u take them blade apart to try to clean them or try setting ya other trimmers the same , it’s never the same as when u get that perfect setting
Actually the inner side of baldes should be sharpened and i do not see anyway this method can sharpen them or any other simple method can be used to sharpen each groove inner side.
I used to use my trimmers to do designs n stuff on haircuts and then over time they stopped barely cutting or making lines even after doing this method, does anyone know why??
U are not dulling them out. What you are doing is shaving them down or somewhat sanding them down. This makes the blade thinner which provides sharper lineups.
hey man, thanks for the vid, really gonna need this when I buy a new trimmer! though I just want to add, that is a japanese whetstone, so unless it has cross your mind before, I think you might want to try making the surface of the whetstone moist when doing this. typically, when using a whetstone to sharpen a knife, we have a water source to repeatedly keep the whetstone moist when sharpening

Glad I came across this video. I recently purchased 3 different babyliss blades and they all snag the skin when doing the c cup. Going to try this method in the morning.
Sometimes when the blades are new the nipping and snagging can come from the metal being freshly cut and it can be the problem. Just think about when you trim your nails how sharp the edges are when you get done with them.
I'm not a barber so understand this isn't professional advice but if they feel too sharp you should back the cutting blade away from the edge of the guard blade a bit. A super sharp blade that is zero gapped isn't usually gonna be too comfortable on sensitive areas. Just leave enough room you can feel the edge of the guard blade with you nail.
Those two blades are not really sharpened as you just explained but what it does is to allow the two blades to function as a pencil's mouth, so with that it can hit and produces a sharp edge line
Ok so basically the parts of the blades that cut are the inside parts rubbing against each other as scissors do. U can sharpen the outside part of scissors all you want it won’t affect how it will cut because u didn’t sharpen the part that actually cuts. (Inside parts of the blades the ones that actually rub against each other doing the cutting.) in the video he is show making both blades thinner by scrapping metal off. Thinner yes, sharper not exactly. They would cut just as they did before. What u will have now is blades that go into the skin pores if not filled out correctly. To sharpen the blade u have to take them apart and do the inside parts.

Nah man, I have been cutting for a while and I can tell you from tried and true EXPERIENCE, that those stones will destroy your blades. If you do it more than once you will be buying a new blade. I find it very weird that you would sharpen the still blade. Seems to me its going to fuck up the angle very fast and start disappearing. Like when they sharpen knives the set the bevel to the exact degree. Doing that by hand on the side with the cutting blade, even doesn’t really make sense, but atleast the angle is fixed and you’re not doing it by feel, but then flipping it over and doing the still blade without locking in an angle gonna round the fuck out of the point.
This makes no sense if you no anything about how the blades cut the cutting happens on the bottom of the top blade and top of the bottom blade ,but you have the results so I’m kinda perplexed

Thank you 4. Umma try this👍🏿🙏🏿
title of the year award goes to the4th ken! lool
Bros eyelashes are marvelous 😦
Great video brother 👏💯✅ good looking out
This was a big help! Thank you!
This makes no sense if you no anything about how the blades cut the cutting happens on the bottom of the top blade and top of the bottom blade ,but you have the results so I’m kinda perplexed
I can’t believe that will smith thing happened 2 years ago
I only liked the video because of the sarcasm in the title.... although am initially a barber
I got some 15 dollar Westinghouse liners that hit just as good straight out the box already came zero gapped and all .. all I'm saying is those name brand clipper and liners are over rated buy off brand stuff and my clippers are Conair brought both clippers and liners for 40$ ..
Man ……throw water on that sharpening stone before you try to sharpen anything
They get sharper over time because the hair files the blade down gradually like you did with the stone
