Awesome video Michael. Hey man if you wanna any time to come to Portugal, here's my website, there's 2 maps one of skateparks and other with spots (this is a new one and i'am working on it, i don´t put the exactly localization but i know all the localization's, i can bee your guide if you want). Keep Up with the good Work. sitenacionaldeskate.wixsite.com/sitenacionaldeskate
Michael Tetkoski hey dude I really recommend you watch mind the gap it’s a powerful documentary about growing up while skating and is filmed by one guy. It’s on Hulu if you wanna watch it
the movie KIDS is mainly focused on how HIV can spread easily for adolescents/teenagers. From what I recall, I could only remember 2-3 scenes with skateboarding, so I understand why it wasn't on the list
Julisa Espina sameeee but when he ended up almost doing the dirty with the girl and he came out of the room and said, “she made me stick two fingers up her Vagina” I LAUGHED SOOO FUCKING HARD DUDE
Mid90s I watch like 3 weeks ago and it’s really good, funny, and really did a good job standing out from other skateboarding movies. I agree with his ratings
Kids (1995) was pretty good too. It's not concentrated around skateboarding, but it features some pros, especially from ZooYork. In my opinion every skater should watch it.
Dogtown and Z Boys should’ve been mentioned when you talked about Lords Of Dogtown, it was the precursor to Lords and it was one I rented from Blockbuster at least once a month. Also Gleaming The Cube needs to be on this list. It’s a classic
I think that's what he was talking about in the beginning when he said something like, You can tell that the people involved had no idea about skateboarding. Which makes them super hard to watch.
i was around 8 years old when i found about Grind just playing randomly on TV and my mom would told me to turn it off cos she thought it was a movie for "adults"
I think that's what he was talking about in the beginning when he said something like, "You can tell that the people involved had no idea about skateboarding. Which makes them super hard to watch".
I do believe that you done something really interesting with this brief essay of yours. Thanks dude. Being born in 76 I'm a lot into the film Thashing. Another flick that stiked my gen was "gleaming the cube" starring Chris Slater. Have you watched that one, yet? It's a cute pictuer. Too bad that Mid 90 did not got distr here in Italy and that Skate kitchen got in few theatres for a week or two only. I agree that girl skaters are, each day a bit more, increasing in numbers and with such a fine techinique!
Thrashin’, Gleaming the Cube, and Search For Animal Chin. Yeah I know I was born in 75’, but these are accurate staples in skateboarding history and pop culture!
Bro ngl all those movies are the best also you should recommend natas documentary he’s one of the reasons why street went from less hyped to most popular form of skateboarding ever
I skateboard because I think it’s a really beautiful sport and like how Rodney Mullen said it’s a way to express myself, and how you can show yourself in your style and specific traits like your favorite board or if you love to skate vert or park or street, it’s just a way for people to show themselves and I believe that’s what skateboarding is
I'm not a skater but I would like to be in the future (when I have enough money to buy a skateboard). However mid90s was an amazing film. I absoutely love it!
I think if skate kitchen had had a different director to help the kids who weren't actors, it could have been so much better. Some of the shots were cool and artsy, and I dug the female representation. But I just wasn't that in to the story or the acting. It made it feel really slow moving unfortunately.
Skate movies that were not included are: “What’s up Rockers”, “Gleaming the Cube”, “ The Skateboard Kid”, “Paranoid Park”, “Grind”, Atlas Electric” and “Macho Taildrop”.
FYI Lords Of Dogtown actually has some of the real people involved with the making of the movie and they have roles in the movie. its awesome because even though they did do some exaggerating they worked very close with the real guys to get it right.
I watched this skate movie called skate girl yes the name is cringy but the movie was pretty good it was about a girl who lived in India and her parents didn’t approve of her skating but she did it anyway
Gleaming the cube was a awesome skateboard movie. It’s about a skateboarder named Brian (played by Christen Slater) finding out what happened to his Vietnamese brother. It’s a very interesting film I suggest u check it out (love your content skate box) also check out police academy 4 (it has a pretty awesome skateboard scene).
Gleaming the cube is another good one. The skateboarding in the movie is intertwined with a plot that is *alright*, and there’s appearances from tony hawk and more
With the exception of Sid, Lords Of Dogtown is an almost direct telling of what was going on. A bunch of scenes in it are recreated from photos shown in Dogtown & Z-Boys
I’ve only seen 3 of the movies in this video and here’s my opinion on the ones I’ve seen so Grind yes it’s cheesy and corny but it’s pretty funny and just nice for laughs don’t take it as a serious skating movie. Mid90s I’ve seen and it’s good it shows how the main character is just trying to fit in and make friends with their love of skateboarding. And Skate Kitchen I just saw recently and I love it so much the whole cast is lovable and it’s nice to see a girl skate crew for a change cause skating really is over populated as a guy thing but these girls know what they’re doing and can actually do trick and all that it’s one of my favorite skateboarding movies I’ve ever seen I can watch it over and over plus the soundtrack is amazing there’s also a spin off/reboot show to it called Betty
I love the bones brigade doc! It's one of my favorite movies. All This Mayhem is the only one I haven't seen. I've heard of it though and the 900 controversy. I'll definitely check it out. Thrashin is Romeo and Juliet as a skateboard movie. I'm not even exaggerating. If you've read Romeo and Juliet, you can totally tell. It's a super goofy film but it is fun to watch if you try not to take it too seriously.
The bones brigade got me into skateboarding. Rodney Mullen got me into freestyle and then later I tried doing vert ricks like some tony hawk creates, the Mc twist etc.
love the vid also idk if you have gotten better at juggling but if you throw the balls up abit more like face height I find it makes it slightly easier keep it up sorry if alot of people already said that XD my bad sorry
if anyone is reading this you should totally watch deck dogz and also dish dogz ,both are great and always reminding me my childhood skating vibes :)))))
Its not really a sk8ing movie, even tho Rodney Mullen kills it as Christians sk8 double. And it has Tony Hawk too, and its a great movie which i had to download and rewatch as an adult.
Hey just so you know you use "Girl Skater" to describe female skaters and not "Boy Skaters" to describe male skaters. "Girl Skaters" are also just skaters. Also that movie got turned into a great HBO show called Betty that was really good. Love that the actors also skated!
Not a skater, never have been, always wanted to but never got a chance. when I was a midteen, back in the days of Blockbuster (yeah, I'm that age range lol), I rented/ watched: Lords of Dogtown - made me want to learn to skateboard Grind and 2 others... Dishdogz ( I think it has Ryan Sheckler make a cameo in that one) Deck dogz - it's an Aussie film (Tony Hawk makes a cameo in that one)
Yeah I know you said that some movies were super hard to watch because of how they were made but you gotta admit Gleaming the Cube had some pretty good scenes with pros like Hawk and Mullen doing all the stunts.
look ima say this in the nicest way possible how have y’all never seen gleaming the cube! it was made in 1989 and it has tony hawk, it got me into skating one of the best skating movies by far 🤞🏻
lets get this video to 809 likes to make up for the 809 minutes I spent watching movies for it 😅

Where the f is Deck Dogz man, delete this video right now and go watch it and come back.
I know there’s not a lot of skating in it, but I’m surprised KIDS didn’t make the cut.
the movie KIDS is mainly focused on how HIV can spread easily for adolescents/teenagers. From what I recall, I could only remember 2-3 scenes with skateboarding, so I understand why it wasn't on the list

Oh hell nah i aint watching that shit couldnt even get past the first ten minutes
When I watch mid90s it takes me back to when time was simple 🤘🏼😌
Psh I wish I grew up in the 90s, looked easier to live and everyone knew each other and played outside and stuff like that.
Yeah the 90’s were the perfect time to be a teenager
Dogtown and Z Boys should’ve been mentioned when you talked about Lords Of Dogtown, it was the precursor to Lords and it was one I rented from Blockbuster at least once a month. Also Gleaming The Cube needs to be on this list. It’s a classic
GtC.. where else can you find Christian Slater be played by Mike McGill and Rodney Mullen in the same montage?! haha
You didn’t even mention Gleaming the Cube 😔
Yeah man that movie was rad
Gleaming shouldnt have made it
Agree, that was my favorite skateboarding movie when growing up 🥰
no you dont want the black wheels!!!
I think that's what he was talking about in the beginning when he said something like, You can tell that the people involved had no idea about skateboarding. Which makes them super hard to watch.
5:17 is by far my favorite skateboarding movie ever. 2nd isn't on this list it might not have been out but its North Hollywood
You forgot the Search for Animal Chin! It's an 80's classic about the Bones Brigade
Even though it has a plot I felt like that was more of a skate video than a movie! Definitely a classic though!
@@SkateBox BOOOOOO!! Greatest movie of all time.
i was just bout to comment this, great movie!!!
I just said the same thing. Still my favorite and I've seen them all. I'm 43 and I own a copy from yrs ago. Now it's my kids fav
It's the message at the end of the movie that was the main focus, just loved it
Dude, your videos are great, how do you not have more subs? Keep up the good videos it’s the only thing getting me through quarantine
Dogtown and Z Boys is a must watch documentary, so good. The non dramatised version of Lords of Dogtown and also directed by Stacy Peralta
Thanks man! Really appreciate your time!
another lords of dogtown fact, the camera man who filmed the skating scenes was lance mountain
Deck Dogs was my favourite one growing up, I need to rewatch it to be really able to tell how well it holds up but definitely worth a watch
Bro I love your videos, I like how the span across any skateboarding stuff
The Grind comment couldn't be more true!! You really hit nail on that one!! 🔨
i was around 8 years old when i found about Grind just playing randomly on TV and my mom would told me to turn it off cos she thought it was a movie for "adults"

It's been a year and were still waiting for an explanation
How
Great vid dude. I can tell a lot of time, energy and effort went into it and it payed off. :)
Gleaming the Cube! Had Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen doing the air and freestyle for Christian Slater.
I think that's what he was talking about in the beginning when he said something like, "You can tell that the people involved had no idea about skateboarding. Which makes them super hard to watch".
i’ve always done skateboarding here and there, but mid90s made me commit to it, also the soundtrack is fire
My man I cant believe you left off "The search for Animal Chin" it's all good though. Good picks and I learned about a one I havnt seen
Good channel. Nice quality
Mid 90's reminded me of when I first started skating. Lords of Dogtown is great. Thrashn' is cool. Grind is just pure comedy lol
Mid 90's got me into skating and its also hell funny
Best skate movie is “Wassup Rockers”
Puccan hell no
Gleaming the Cube is my favourite. It included the Bones Brigade. There’s some awesome riding and the sound track works awesome for the movie.

I watched thrashin last night caz of my dad it was really good
Lowkey a banger more kids should watch it haha
If someone had told me back in the day that the main guy from Thrashin would grow up to be Thanos, I wouldn't believe it.
Ive always been into skating but Skate Kitchen is what made me buy a board. Still learning.
Great channel man 👍
Appreciate it!
I’m halfway through, I hope thrashin gets a mention...😂🔥
Great list thanks and there are so many more
Grind is rlly good

It's amazing 👌

We need a mid 90’s 2..it left on a cliff
i would say talk to the 30 to 35 year old we where there but agree i wouldnt mind mid 90s 2
I skateboard because I think it’s a really beautiful sport and like how Rodney Mullen said it’s a way to express myself, and how you can show yourself in your style and specific traits like your favorite board or if you love to skate vert or park or street, it’s just a way for people to show themselves and I believe that’s what skateboarding is

yea tbh a lot of scenes were too slow and the acting just wasnt the best. besides that though, i really enjoyed it
Best Skateboarding Movies in no order (1) Thrashin (2) Search For Animal Chin (3) Gleaming The Cube (4) Streets On Fire (5) Larry Clark’s KIDS

The movie with the homeless kid and monkey skating was my favorite as a kid 😂

Its not really a sk8ing movie, even tho Rodney Mullen kills it as Christians sk8 double. And it has Tony Hawk too, and its a great movie which i had to download and rewatch as an adult.
Yeah Grind made the list but somehow Gleaming the Cube was left off. This dude has no idea what he's taking about!

Great video but I thought for sure that Kids and Gleaming the Cube were going to make the list.

Where can you watch Thrashin'? The amazon link you posted said the movie was unavailable.
I watched it on a youtube playlist! The clips are only 10 minutes each which is kind of annoying but it was still good!
Thanks for tips
Not a skater, never have been, always wanted to but never got a chance. when I was a midteen, back in the days of Blockbuster (yeah, I'm that age range lol),
I rented/ watched:
Lords of Dogtown - made me want to learn to skateboard
Grind
and 2 others...
Dishdogz ( I think it has Ryan Sheckler make a cameo in that one)
Deck dogz - it's an Aussie film (Tony Hawk makes a cameo in that one)
Paranoid Park is probably my favorite, even though it's less about skateboarding and more about the characters
sick video
Yeah I know you said that some movies were super hard to watch because of how they were made but you gotta admit Gleaming the Cube had some pretty good scenes with pros like Hawk and Mullen doing all the stunts.
Mid90s😍
mid 90s made me cry cause that was what it was like i started skating mid to late 90s and the movie is so fuckin good
