    Few people understands that not only the band and his musicians, but also the crew and everyone else related to the company literally is able to put food on their tables thanks to the sacrifices you make Joey. While everyone else is having fun and sightseeing you are working endlessly in the hotel trying to fix everything and every tiny aspect of the production to be perfect. So at the end of the day the fans gets what they deserve, everyone gets paid and everything works. On top of that you need to be a musician, a friend and almost a father to everyone involved and surrounding the band. Your job is colossal, and the young generations are totally clueless about the immense sacrifices you did and do. Luckily a few of us from this side are aware of this and we, your fans, contemplate with awe and gratitude your figure.

    Wow, Joey!
    That actually shows a side of you I've never seen. And I have a huge folder with interviews I collected from '82 forward. More of that please!
    One thing though - I'm one of the guys who thinks you should do more on bass in new songs, BUT let me explain:
    The verse in Guyana, the intro of Battle Hymn, the intro of Bridge Of Death, Mountains, Defender, etc, etc.
    Those were all elevating the song and not messing it up and you've made it such an important part of Manowar. So me personally I'd love to hear new songs with stuff like that.

    This second part didn't disappoint my expectation. I loved to see and listen this point of view about beatles and the music. I agree that soloes ĥave to be complementary to the music and to story the song is telling. I always had the feeling you worked as an architect Joey. Your music is so perfect in every aspect and every single instruments has its place and gives the right emotions. Thanks to be as you are because you give us joy and special feelings with your music.

    Thank you for telling it how it is, the bass is the foundation! Also so many bassists in metal just double the guitar and get lost in the mix resulting in a loss of groove and heavyness.

    I'm gutted that even though I activated the bell to receive every single update from this channel, TH-cam still f*cked up and gave me zero notifications! I was like "why Joey is taking so long to release part 2?" and turns out this has been out for 8 days already!! Anyway....
    What a wholesome and insightful interview. In the context of Manowar, this is exactly why many in the metal community (including myself) consider the first 6 records, and specially the first 4, to be absolute classics of the genre - SONGS FIRST.
    There are many, many catchy and melodic elements in these records, from the bass line intros/bridges to the crunchy, mid-paced guitar riffs and solos. The straightforward yet effective drum pounding of the late Scott Columbus only help to exacerbate said melodies. Also little to no symphonic elements (except in Kings of Metal) or thrashy, tremolo-picked passages (very prominent in e.g. The Triumph Of Steel) in these albums, which contribute to the catchiness and juiciness of the songs.
    I believe I'm not the only here that wish Manowar could once again tap into that formula that worked so damn well in the past. It would be truly special to hear songs molded with those elements in mind again.
    Looking forward for part 3 of this incredible interview!

    to the part about Joey not playing like he used to....welll I like the new stuff, but the bass play used to be more unique. With so many bands in the world already, uniqueness is what everyone wants. Why listen to something that a million other bands are already doing? Nobody to this day plays the way Joey used to play and that's absolutely fascinating. How many musicians can say that? And the fans love it, so to hell with lessons about how it should be played, music should be about how you feel. Emotions are the key to good music.
    An artist puts emotions into his work, and the fan must feel those emotions from that work. That is true art.

    • @realjoeydemaio
      @realjoeydemaio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      thank you for such an amazing comment. I really appreciate it. I don’t think I’m playing any differently. I just don’t think that I’m playing anything I want rather it fits in the song or not then I think that’s something. I’ve learned overtime that if I take attention away from the vocals or any other instrument that I’m doing something wrong unless I’m supposed to be taking attention for a solo piece, but I’m always looking for a way to strike a happy balance although I confess live I probably play more like what people are talking about in your comment but thank you so much please subscribe and tell your friends to join us
