This is a video where I showcase Yuju's supported range at her best: A3~C#5(F5)~F5.
This includes some notes that she does not normally or consistently support such as F5 in her mix. Her more consistent supported range is A3/Bb3~C5/C#5 (E5/F5 with head voice). Hope you enjoy! @@lipro9575 Not even C5 now😢 They made her overworked with her voice, she was straining too much, sometimes she sings way too high, she is now regressed but i believe in time, she'll be back with her consistency up to C#5 at least Again
By the way she was never consistent supporting above C#5, her consistency stopped at C#5.

She used to use older techniques but I think she is now experimenting with her voice rather than regressing as much as people think she is. I think she definitely experienced regression but I think part of her not recovering is her own doing since she has improved her lower range.

I feel like her voice kind of changed a little bit. Her voice was very powerful and rough back then but i feel like it got less powerful(but still very powerful)and more kind of a smooth and deep voice
Buddy여친사랑 it just because she makes it more heady, so it sounds more smooth, but generally she can make it balanced, slightly chesty (more power) and heady (smooth), it just depends on her, its up to her 😊😊😊

It depends on what you think support is, even many professionals seemingly do not agree on that word, or words like ''resonance'' and ''resonant''.Physicaly speaking (Not theoricaly) she had plenty of supported and sustained Eb5s, E5s, D5s.By informations I read and things I hear she has a light lyric soprano voice (Same as Wendy) that changes when she closes a little her vocal chords (Her vocal chords up to D5 seem to do 0 work) to pass a certain bridge which I think is called D major (Flat).She still supports EASILY D5 but her voice normaly changes to a sound that is her actual real voice.At F#5 her timbre really do sound like a light voice instead of her dramatic/full colour in middle notes and it is when her vocal chords seem to work just as much as other female kpop idols on C5 (It can be told by her timbre quality).
Her sustainable F5 which you are talking about was just as resonant as other F5s she did, but the vowel was different, it was a big booming ''Do'' vowel instead of forward-sharp sounding ''Ya', ''Ha'', ''Gae'', ''Ga'', ''wa"" and other nasal vowels Yuju seem to always use for these notes that are very high for kpop idols.By what i know the only way a girl can make a pure ''a'' sound on that freaking overused D note (I swear this is just like male idols who too often do A4s... seems like its a trend in kpop) that sound free is by thinning a little bit and using a bit more head voice in the mix.... which would be more appropriated in sweet, girly ballads than Gfriend's rocky climaxes.

@ I agree there are different notions of support and resonance, especially since it can be perceived differently theoretically-speaking, but the difference is clear. Even physically-speaking, anything above C#5 for her still sounds closed, muffled and noticeably shrill. The sound she produces on those notes isn't as open as when she sings C#5 and below, and even then she is kind of inconsistent. To me, Yuju specifically sounds hella different when she starts straining. Also, I wouldn't really categorize her as a light lyric since she *isn't* a classical singer, but I'd take a wild guess and say she's far from being a Dramatic as she lacks/would lack that richness and volume Dramatic Sopranos have.
Yuju in the 15th day of January did a performance of their new comeback, when she seemingly was very tired and sick, she was unable to sing in the 5th probably due to her sickness messing up her breath, and instead of straining to make these notes her voice collapsed into air, proving that she can't even sing such notes in a time when she cannot support much.When you sing unsupported in an heavy configuration you cannot start mixing in the upper part of your voice without your voice exploding and dropping the chest register before cracking back to a very airy head voice with no sound.
Personally, as soon as I pass the 2nd part of the 3rd octave in heavy mix I absolutly have to support or else my voice breaks into pieces, a girl with smaller vocal chords simply cannot reach the 5th octave in an unsupported heavy mix without only air coming out, she did fail to support while singing Me Gustas Tu and it was just like I said.
And I am going to end with this: Not only Yuju supports these 5th octave high notes, she even SUSTAIN these up to D5, while F5 and F#5 seems like the notes she needs to starting going into a more balanced mix or even a light one.

Hi T1a2e3 I do try my best to use only live performances unless there is really no note or a lack of notes, or it is out of their usual supported range :) ooh this sounds pretty good to me! Although it may be reverb and studio effects. Let me ask my friend from the kpop vocal analysis blog :)

@@Douchifer It's up to her tbh. From what I've heard from her she's okay in phrasing but in sustaining it is clearly stained. I hope she will back on track, but from what she's showing now I doubt it. She even strained B4/C5 showing her inconsistency, in her prime it's very unlikely for her to strained B4/C5 and she only occasionally strained C#5.

ggdomination unfortunately it doesn't seem so. Even within her supported range, the support in her head voice is not really too solid either I believe. No wonder Yuju regressed because Gfriend's schedule is so packed in 2015 - 2019. They attended so many festival, sometimes there's 2 event in 1 day. Hoping for her to get better, because during 2016 Navillera esp. -2019 she seems didn't enjoy singing that much. But in 2020, she callenged herself to try so many things in singing different genre

Do you think Yuju or Wendy is better ? If we consider solely their supported range :
Wendy : F#3/G3 - D5 - Bb5 (C6)
Yuju : A3 - C#5 (F5) - F5
Wendy. Yuju can be quite inconsistent on her C#5's. Although Yuju may support lower than A3 as she's shown some supported G3's and G#3's, but I don't know if it's a consistent thing or just a few times. But even with G3/G#3, Wendy would be better :)

It's true. She lost her resonance while her head voice and mix register declined. I think she used to support C5/C#5 consistently and now it's just up to Bb4/B4 without resonance. Her agility and low register improved though!
