    Great review Terry. It actually prompted me to travel to Nintronics and audition both Diablo’s for myself. It was really interesting to do a side by side comparison. The amplifiers are quite different, as you mentioned in your review. We used Sonus Faber Olympia Nova III speakers for the purpose of the demo, which I can report were a really nice pairing for both amps. I was very impressed with both but it may not come as any great surprise that I much preferred the presentation of the 300. I tried a couple of external DACS but found the synergy and sweet spot at least for me was with the Gryphon internal DAC. The guys at Nintronics were great and couldn’t have been more helpful. I’ve auditioned quite a few amps now but the Diablo 300 is the simply the best I’ve heard by quite some distance. Very smooth and dynamic! I’m enjoying the channel so thanks for producing some great content. It would be good to hear your thoughts on some of the bigger Gryphon separates, if you ever get the opportunity! Best wishes.

    I've heard the Diablo 300 several times at shows and it's an absolutely amazing and impressive piece, but a little above my pay-grade, so I purchased the Hegel H590 integrate and I couldn't be happier!!! The Hegel H590 is indeed one of those "End-Game" pieces, as well. But, you've got to take your hat off to the Gryphon Diablo 300.

      I completely agree. I have edged ever closer with Hegel upgrades and am now welcoming a new Diablo 300 into the home next week with Marten Parker Duo speakers. I listened to them in the showroom and compared with H590 and Alta Audio Alecs (currently use Harbeth M40.2A). The Hegel H590 suited the Alta Audio Alecs but the Diablo 300 just sang in my opinion with the Martens. It was just like a penny dropped! Just asked Terry if he tried this combination but those component's paths did not cross for him, sadly. Actually, I loved them. Cannot wait to see if they are as impressive at home next week before I part with my hard earned savings! After this - no more purchases!

    Ended up buying the Diablo 300 having had my dealer set it up in my system- apart from the shear size & weight the build quality is second to none. Really is something special that’s for sure, doesn’t matter what type of music you listen to it just sounds natural and unbelievably detailed.

    Hello, friends! Just received my first Gryphon - the Diablo 300! First thing I noticed is that it needed about 2 hours in order to start "singing" as expected, though it is a preowned unit, so already burnt-in (the warm-up time mentioned in user's manual is 45 minutes). Another interesting thing is that the user's manual reccomends us to leave it powered up at all times, but at the same time, the Gryphon website tells us to put it in stand-by mode when not using it (maybe someone from Gryphon can clear this out for us). The unit does get really hot, as opposed to some reviews I recently read.How do you treat you "beasts"? Please let me know your experiences and opinions, maybe some reccomendation on the power cables you use or tested with your Diablo. Thank you and a nice weekend to everyone!
    PS. My wife noticed that, when turned upside down, the front side of the remote resembles a fennec fox :))

      I've got the Vinnie Rossie L2se with the dac module. It's a similar price to the Gryphon but with less power obviously. Having listened to both i much preferred the Vinnie Rossie. The tubes just give it a sweeter sound with a less harsh top end. The dac module is exceptional also. I noticed much more noise from the Gryphon too although it probably has the edge on the Vinnie Rossie in terms of bass..

    Great review as usual one of the best. I also love Steve Gutenberg - Zero fidelity, Z reviews (for the younger crowd) T&stereo. I know how hard all you guys work to get your channel up to this level. It’s truly impressive. I love that you’re the only reviewer who properly mics up your sound demos and attends all or most of the shows. This amp seems incredible from your review and I know like me you’re a perfectionist with good taste so can rely on it. The aesthetics at this price are horrible though (albeit beastly and seriously engineered). Looks like 80,s B&O. Not a pretty amp unless a big old slab of black Dr Who nostalgia is what you’re after. I would miss my hypnotic blue VU meters. I’m sure it aces the flabby bass of my Mcintosh 152 no doubt but I love the warmth and analog tube sound of Mac so I guess that’s the downside. Also a big shout out to the guys at nintronics. They’re so friendly and helpful - I actually mixed a YBA pre and Mac power together there and got a much better sound than going with either of the same brand combos. Have you thought about doing any videos where you mix and match pre and power brands? Might be interesting. By the way hop over to Thomas & Stereo for a full walkthrough of my rig (Justin’s system)

    Terry- Thanks for the great review. I have the same speakers in my home, the KEF Reference 3's. I've had a McIntosh 207, BHK 300s, and now an ATI 3305 on them. I want to buy a better amp for them as well as a DAC so I can bypass my Datasay LS10 for stereo listening. I feel the Diablo 300 may be the perfect product. Seeing that you have the same speakers as me, what has been the best amp you have had on your Kefs, and how does the Diablo compare to that amp? Or has the Diablo been your favorite. Looking forward to your reply!

    Sounds like an amazing amplifier and the best you have had in the system, but it would be nice to know how it compares with an established reference such as a Krell, Audio Research or Constellation Audio that you could hold constant to compare components to in future reviews. I appreciate that it is an integrated, so a reference preamp would also be needed with the other amps I mentioned . Also it has a dac. As dac technology is constantly improving I think I'd prefer to not be paying for a in-built dac and choose my own.

      Thanks very much - please bear in mind I didnt directly compare the two and I looked at the Luxman with a system not as good as the Gryphon. Either way the Luxman is more about being tonally satisfying, bold and rich sounding, smoooth and the Gryphon is about raw power control and honesty so it might depend on what system balance you are going for. Both are going to make you smile and happy, you cant really go wrong either way but one might complement your system different to the other. Thanks for watching my videos I really appreciate it

    Terry, many thanks for review, possible negatives of the amp in my humble opinion.......it’s a very forward amp and for some might be a bit much. Depends on the partnering electronics, room and personal taste. Perhaps not a negative but certainly something to be aware of. If you like high quality but a more laid back presentation the 300 could be fatiguing over many hours. Like you I love the amp but thought I’d share thoughts as a previous owner.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont think the 300 is fatiguing if the upstream system is dialled in but I do think that is very important, but it's always important - if the amplifier is exposing this that is not the amplifier being at fault it's actually a strength rather than a weakness when you think about it

    • @supabayes3284

      I agree with Terry. This amp is very transparent, equivalent to the Pass Labs XA25, which is well known for being the most transparent amp in the Pass Labs offering. It is only forward sounding if your speakers and other gears that you pair with are forward sounding. Further, it’s treble is extended without being bright or harsh. Very sweet presentation and not fatiguing at all.

    Hi everyone, I'm seeking some unbiased opinions. I currently own Sonus Faber Amator III speakers and have two options available to me. The first is a Gryphon Diablo with a built-in DAC, priced at 100k NOK from the dealer, which I'm considering. The second option, from another dealer, is an older Diablo 250 with RIAA but no internal DAC. However, it comes with an AURALIC ALTAIR G1.1 streamer/DAC and Nordost XLR cable for 70k NOK, making it the cheaper option. My question is: in terms of pure sonic performance and synergy with my Amator III speakers, which amplifier would be better? Would the older but more powerful Diablo 250 outperform the newer technology Diablo 120, or vice versa? I understand that in terms of pure synergy, the Gryphon Diablo with the built-in DAC might be superior, but it comes at a 30k higher price tag

    Nice looking unit but the ridiculous pricing lends to me believe %50 of what I'm paying for goes into the aesthetic's design and implementation, as is the case for a lot of exotic gear. This unit is 21000USD, the cost of a Honda sedan. If someone were able to afford this integrated they would be able to sell off some of their current possessions of .5 meter cubed of space to accommodate for separates. I appreciate highend gear but going exotic goes beyond the pursuit of sound, in this case aesthetics and space savings. This review nonetheless is appreciated.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a lot of money for an amplifier for sure and sometimes in high end audio its a lot of money for not a lot of product, in this case the money is for a LOT of product when you look at the build quality and sheer quantity of quality components used.

    • @shiroitake
      @shiroitake 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem Thanks for replying. I understand that you're more of a promoter than a reviewer considering your response to my post. But really how can one state "the money is for a LOT of product" when this product is basically one of the most expensive integrated amps in the world.... It's basically setting a ceiling price for an integrated, where reasonable price range eg. Mcintosh at 8000USD isn't even anywhere near. The casing/box is the most expensive part of an amplifier, next comes transformers and then caps, then transistor. A quick google search shows me that the priciest transformer is $100USD retail. Sure the gryphon one is proprietary so.. $300USD? This amp has 10large caps so $30x10? =300retail. Anyway it's now a cost accounting post.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shiroitake I am not a promoter for starters I am a reviewer.
      There are 2 norotel transformers in the amp probably 20 capacitors plus other things that cost money .
      As I said before sometimes with high end audio you get a largely an empty box for a high price tag but not with this amplifier it's big and its full. If you get a chance to see the insides you will see what I mean

    Hey Terry I've got a question for you. I've just recently bought a diablo 300 couldn't be happier with the presentation . But I'm finding that I'm running out of volume almost. I'm in the 80 DB range but I'm pretty much at the high 30s number with the volume.
    Just wondering if it's got something to do with input sensitivity or voltage gain and what I might be able to do about it.
    I've got a Lumin U1 streamer going into a luxman da 06 DAC through XLR cables. So I'm already getting an input gain with the XLR's but something doesn't seem right this thing's got 300 watts per channel into a times and through my Wilson Alexia's at 4 ohms there's 600 watts to play with. Just a bit puzzled as to what's happening would love your thoughts.
    Cheers Shane.

    I just accused the audio business in the NY Times as the reason Americans don't believe in science. The article was about why were Americans so gullible as to refuse vaccines and believe in the movie Plandemic: My words "The Audio Business is responsible for all of it. The engineers at the audio engineering society say all amplifiers sound the same. Mr. Winer says all wires sound the same. How much audio equipment contrary to these ideas exist? More dollars of it is sold every year than burgers that McDonalds has sold during its existence".
    Just if anyone blames you for all this trouble you can point to me. Well my wife has nothing to do with it.
