    Probably the most underrated technical video I've watched on TH-cam!

    It is SO great to find a review by someone who has spent four months with the equipment. Wonderful production.

    We had the same idea about doing video shoot on a Segway and this vid was excellent with Black Magic Tim's input and seeing the improved difference of shooting vid on Segway. When on the go and cant or dont want to wait around while Segway is charging... or out in the field and not able to plug into a power outlet and charge Segway Ninebot S/Mini/Plus/etc., having portable power inverter that attaches to power tool batteries is super handy and gives Segway a faster rate of charge that can give Segway another 12-20% of battery life depending on calibur of power tool battery. Our use of Segways as mobility devices for injured/disabled is limited to their battery life and places that have outlets to charge them, but packing portable power inverter to get a bit more charge when needed has increased our limitations.

    During the comparison....WOW! Huge difference, but the difference between the z-axis travel honestly was not nearly as bad as it could be. Here's the deal though...You're a f**king NINJA...The 'gimbal+boots' segment would have needed some serious Warp Stabilizer if those were my boots...the MiniPro is absolute genius in the hands of a practitioner such as yourself. Cheers!

    That was an amazing review and analysis! Tim, I think we might have been separated at birth and are gear twins aside from looking similar. I started using my Daughter’s Swagway hoverboard during shoots for all the reasons you mentioned but now I think I will have to upgrade to the Segway. The ReadyRig vest will be the next thing I get for weightless feel. Just subscribed and look forward to more of your content, Brother. 👊🏽

    Nothing better than holding a coffee and watching the camera, when the segway goes over a sidewalk heave and drops out from under you. No crash, just dropped two inches. Spilled coffee and had to edit out that camera movement. Watch out turning while reversing the segway. The stick steers the nose not the tail. It steers opposite the stick in reverse and will throw a rider.

    So amazing to find this video… trying to decide between onewheel and segway…. Onewheel just seems dangerous and limited, esp indoors… not to mention harder to turn. Came for the video, stayed for the black creatives-let’s go!

      Thanks. All the Gimbal/Segway footage was captured with a Zeiss Distagon T* 15mm f/2.8. The BTS was shot on the GH4 using the Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8.

    • @GearJones
      @GearJones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Onewheel is an awesome vehicle. The speed and agility are great. We've found that the stability of a two-wheeled allows the operator to better focus on the shot rather than the terrain.

    Tthe segway is a must have lol

  • @NC-oc3ld
    @NC-oc3ld ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not get rid of the camera man? There should be a mini segway with a motorized center column and motorized ballhead that you can mount a camera or phone to. Then it can follow you around or be controlled remotely with VR/augmented reality. It replaces a tripod because it can stand still and move up and down to frame a shot. Or follow you for a live stream by keeping you in frame. Or doing a time-lapse while moving over terrain.
