I saw the Hoe Tip for farm soil below which is a good tip but, instead of using dirt and bonemeal for make it you can go over to Harvest Homestead which is just West of Ancient Spire. There are some fields there that have some corn and fiber you can pick. However if you are standing in the fields and pull out your pickaxe you can simply use the pickaxe and dig up as much farm soil as you will ever need for free.
Instead of crafting farm soil, you can use the pickaxe to dig up farm soil. Just head to the village west of the first spire with the broken down church. There you can dig up stacks of farm soil.
The twig thing... me as an archer going to explore and fight for 1 hour , planting and harvesting bushes for 2 hours to get the needed twigs for crafting arrows XD... (it just feels like it)... just planted 400 bushes yesterday ;-) Btw. the water situation can be solved later in the game, when you get the crafting recipe for a well. Unfortunately this wells are function exactly like the ones in the different villages, you can get only a few water out of them 8-15. But there is a little trick if you pick up a once set well you can place it again and each time you can get water. I recommend to place at least 5 wells because water will be also used for many other things , other than farming, like crafting potions which are very very important in late game.
The biggest thing I'd say you missed for this video was LOCATIONS for collecting the initial plants to propagate in the seedling bed. Telling new players the locations for each plant would help them.
@@t0ssacoin408 hindsight is something that we don't always have. What I suggest for how to videos is that someone goes from start to finish, what it looks like, where and how to get it, when to get it (certain things are only available at certain times like the fireflies at night) and last why to get something because of the buffs of each and many are used to make higher levels food with recipes.
Instead of gathering bones, grinding them, gathering dirt and taking them to the farmer, its much easier to just go to one of the dozens of large farms on the map and just digging hundreds of farm soil from the beds, it respawns anyway and is so much faster doing it that way. Or you can simply just place a flame altar beside them and claim them as your own for farming.
I mean, kind of. You're gonna have hundreds of bones just playing the game anyway, plus you need bonemeal for other stuff. By the time I even got to farming I had a few hundred bonemeal just sitting around, so going to a farm and picking at dirt was a much slower option.
sonofa....I've been stockpiling seedlings waiting for the Farmer to give me a recipe to make fields. I had no idea you can do this with dirt, it's too obvious. Thank you!

A lot of Flax for linen/fabric/padding, i hope they add a better way to plant a entire field, i'm already planting over 1000 seedlings and it take a long while to do haha
You don't have to plant the tree seedlings in farm soil to make it grow those tiny trees - I just shoved them into normal soil and it grew those tiny trees I could get twigs/fibers from but I'm guessing farm soil is faster and maybe more efficient. Do you know if there is a way to grow trees?
I'm going to have to test to see if there is a speed difference. I havent tried to plant trees yet, but I think everything outside of your flame altar regens every few days.
nope, literally just plop it into the ground. I am curious to know if planting in farm soil yields any benefits other than aesthetics. Maybe grow time or yield.
Why do you put down the farming soil on the ground? I can just place my strawberry plants straight on the ground. Does putting them in farming soil have any benefit?
@t0ssacoin408 After watching your video I was curious. Then the thought popped into my head. I've only done strawberries. So maybe some crops are different and require farming soil to be planted. I'll have do some testing next time I'm able to play.
So you will take a plant that you have found, place it in the seed bed, go to recipes, choose and craft a seedling type, and eventually it will be in the seedbed for you to loot.

Oh... one question... does the farm soil has any advantage ? I never did that and planted the seedlings directly on the ground.
I'm not sure if it does, I might have added an extra step.
do plants regrow after you've harvest them, or do you have to plant new seeds after each harvest?
New seeds every Harvest
Is there a way to mass farm the crops? Like a sickle tool?
Not right now currently. Does seem to be something people are asking for.
Have a question, do u know how to craft the building block and got vines?
I've yet to see that one. You'll probably know by the time I'm off work, but I can look into it.

Would be nice if they added a mass plant, but i'm honestly just so happy that they have snapping.
I have done a python script that spam left click and the S button so it plants somehow auto. But I agree, they need to implement something.
I put off farming and completely forgot about it lol.
no more flax and camomile runs!!!!!

why do i need farm ground? i plant all the stuff on the normal ground and they still grew? or do they grow faster on farm ground?
It is quite possible you don't need it. I havent tested to see if it is faster or not.
Thanks a lot bro

You dont need the farm soil at all , you can just plant them on ground and spam the seeds
I saw I could plant them on regular dirt. Didn't think the would grow though. Good to know!
This. I didn't even know you could place farm soil down because I just planted crops on the reg ground. But I guess atheistically it looks better.
Once you harvest your crops, do you have to replant or will it just grow back?
need to replant it again
definitely need to replant, so save some crops to make more seedlings

It’s better way to get farm soil. You can dig farm soil in farm location.

Can you reproduce crops? How? I cant seem to figure it out.
Save a few from your harvest, and reuse them in your seedbed to get more seedlings for planting.

Try it with no roof at all to see if that makes a difference. Ive only gotten that message when trying to plant crops too close to each other.
