Thanks for giving me something to look forward to on Saturday morning again. Like GiJoe & Transformers but with sewing machines & chainsaws instead... Thank you my Forest Sage
Another interesting video. Didn't think that I would be seeing someone sewing plastic sleds this morning. That's just my very limited imagination, I suppose. Love watching you work on your projects - no matter how weird. Perhaps the weirdness is what makes them interesting. Thanks for being weird. See you next Saturday. 😊
Seems like a dedicated outside highly insulated water bucket holding box, not a shed, raised up a couple of feet and heated with a small solar panel that drives a mini mini heat element with a pc fan placed low..
Paint the box black and you probably don't need the solar panel. To help with insulation, build a transparent ((Plexi)glas) top cover. That way much of the heat is going to stay in.
A cool "quality of life" project could be a remote thermometer for the shower water heater that could set off an alarm in your mansion when it's up to temp. Thanks for the videos. Stay safe out there.
As i listened to you talk about your water issues, It got my thought to considering how to work smarter not harder. Larger amounts of water take longer to freeze, Your bath house is heated while you're heating the water. That heat could be captured and do double duty in the winter months if you insulated the bath house or part of it, to retain the heat, because you only need it to stay above freezing until your next shower. A tote or barrel on a pallet sitting in a shower basin to drain if it ever should leak or from condensation could drain out the bottom could even add pipe insulation to reduce the cold from entering from the drain pipe. For the summer months could have the shower separated from the heating of the water so you still can enjoy the out doors like it is now with an insulated wall and door between. Just a thought. I'm sure you could explore that idea some more to fit the solution even better. Cob would be useful as a heat sync to help capture more heat to slowly dissipate the heat to keep your water from freezing as well, by extending the warmth between showers keeping everything thawed out and useful. Then you wouldn't need all the water buckets in the cabin. If your going to pay for the propane may as well get every oz out of using it to your advantage.
Auto parts stores have various size thin metal pans with a small lip all around. They are made to put under a vehicle to prevent drips on your garage floor. Great videos. Thanks - from Hells Canyon, Frank.
I want to say thabka for theae videos. I found your channel in november when I had a bunch of illlness. I watched a good chunk of your videos. Warching then sat am makes me get up and have my own adventures. Thanks again!
Thanks for living my dream life as Im getting to old. But have spent alot of time playing with chainsaws and in the woods back in the day. Keep up the great work always entertaining
You are the best yeah I love your jokes you're funny yeah keep up the good work I'm enjoying every video look forward to seeing what you have in store for 2024 😊
Ryan your not wired you are a limited edition of 1, I have zero idea why I watch a grown ased man sliding on the floor don't ever grow up 😂 keep doing random things in your own way, thanks for the videos.
Maybe build an addition to your cabin to be a fridge. Just an insulated room to keep your coolers in. Store the 5 gallon buckets of water under the cabin in a finished crawl space. Don't insulate the cabin floor for the crawl space, but do insulate the floor & walls of the crawl space. The heat from the cabin would migrate down & if it wasn't enough, than add vents in the cabin floor.
was wondering how your bubble insulation in the floor is working out for you?? is it keeping the floor mostly warm for you?? keep up the good video's love the content
What you need is pond liner. You could just cut it the right size and be done with it. It's cheap, too. Home Depot has it. It wouldn't be as much fun, though... I love your videos!
To find similar material to those sleds, look up shipping and freight handling supply companies. There are pallet covers made of a slightly thicker plastic than those sleds. I would imagine various sizes can be found through them.
Providing you can keep it drained - dig/build a small root cellar for your water. It doesn't have to be deep under the ground to keep your water liquid. An oversize insulating lid will help a lot.
maybe build a enclosed area off the front steps and insulate it really good and see if the water won't freeze in it ? or put a lightbulb on all of the time can often keep the temperature up above freezing ...
Ryan, you need to pound a well. With all that cedar, the water table is probably pretty high. It might not be drinking quality, but at least your wash water would be easier to access.
time to do a walk in closet addition to your main cabin...with a twist ....6 inch walls to increase the insulation properties... after all you did leave a blank wall...that is begging for that storage closet
Your 1 Smart Man there Ryan!!! Have Sarah bring a big pot of chili soup already made for you to eat out there !!! I know it would be a pain to heat it on up but a bag of chips would be Great with sour cream also for you to have also !!! Like Happy New Year's Day then for you all there !!! Love the swinging log bed that is my favorite of all !!! But then everything Is Great out there !!!
If you gets. Old barn, youo need to start a farm! Lol Yes way to much shower room will outside attire on if ya admin’ me! 😜 thanks for the videos! The are wonderful
At work, we sew through 3/16” thick PVC angle. So I was confident that you could sew through the 8 layers of sled. We use a new Juki now, but we previously used a Pfaff (circa 1960-something). Couldn’t get parts for it anymore-hence the upgrade. BTW, I have access to flexible PVC sheet if you need some. We often have blemished material that we can’t use. 39” wide in almost whatever length. We extrude our own material.
Another series of projects could be adding large extensions to the cabin as storage/closet/utility room/piped septic tank shower, toilet, and sleeping quarters, as well, as collecting water from rain, and or well water. You will have content for years. Sounds good to me Happy New Year! I will be watching. LOL🤣😂😀
Your DIY hack for catching the bucket condensation under the bed is clever. You are the DIY king of the UP. A party with Sara and Tito sounds like a fun video. We never had those plastic "sleds" when I was a kid. We have very little snow here in most of Wisconsin. The ski and snowmobile trails are bare. People are riding their ATV's on the trails. The annual Berkebeiner could be cancelled. They're making snow for a portion of it. Warmest winter in Wisconsin history.
Hey, Ken here. Have you considered that vinyl flexible grey sheeting used to make shower pan liners. cheaper than stainless and easier to work with. Building supply places carry it.
Ryan, question for you! Have you ever considered Wind Power to supplement your Solar Array. Walmart sells the Vevor Wind Turbine for just over $100. You would need to get a hybrid voltage controller. That way you would have Solar an Wind charging your batteries. This time of year way too many rainy cloudy days! But the wind blows day or night. Vevor put lots of tutorial videos with their product listings. Hope that helps!
Another cool project. I am always amazed at your ability to use your knowledge to plan for what will work, and what will not. i.e. the difference in the threads. I too have been the victim of bait and switch when ordering online. Boo Hoo!
At our cabin we bring buckets of water and had the same problem. Now we have two short toates with no lids we set them in. Your way is definitely cooler.
You need a large male German Shepherd, 6 chickens, 2 outside cats, to build a chicken coop. This is really going to get more important as time goes on.
You should get a couple of metal folding. Chairs to use at your work table. The are so much smaller & take up less room. Love your ideas , they are dope.
All these skills you have are quite impressive! What did you do before the ringworm? Were you like a civil engineer or something?Seems you know how to do everything which is fantastic for us to watch on your videos. We haven't seen Tito and Sara in a while so yea a video of you guys would be great...
I could be completely wrong here but I think he used to canvas boats. Like yachts and whatnot. I vaguely remember picking that up from one of his videos. I think when he was making the shower cover. If I'm wrong, id love to know the truth.
He did a bunch of things including canvasing boats for a while, which he learned when living on a boat. The construction stuff is new to him and he learned that while building at Ringworm and from online resources. So he says, I think he had some construction skills before he got there.
Would a big very well insulated box to store the water buckets in the shower room work to keep the water unfrozen longer? You might want to seal up that corner of the sleds to deter the condensation from leaking. Thanks for the episode.
You need to enlarge your front porch and eventually you can enclose it for your water and maybe a “kitchen “ . Just a suggestion , fold the edges and hook them and then sow them unless its too thick for your needles
You should have used transparent aluminum. If it can contain salt water and whales, it can handle a little condensation. That's just Star Trec, never mind.
Happy new year! 🎉 just a thought, I wonder if you put epsom salt in the buckets if they would stay unfrozen? They therapeutics would be a side benefit.
It will condensate under the plastic and still ruin your floor. I have rubber backed floor rugs that the dogs lay on, and I still have condensation under a rubber backed carpet. They need to be set up above the floor
I repurpose old timber all the time, especially if it's 100 plus years old roofing timbers, as that's largely old growth pine, rather than fast grown sitka or larch.
I have a 196 sq foot cabin in da yoop. when I first built it I was heating with a 15000BTU propane heater similar to what you are using. In the really cold time of the year it would heat the space just fine but it never felt comfortable because of all the moisture it produced. Have you experienced that as well or am I just nuts? Good job with the build!
They have roofing tape that is silver and is made to have light exposure and will seal those together and waterproof all at the same time. I used it as flashing around the roof vents on a camper it works great. The brand that they used to sell at home Depot was not the same as the one at Lowe's Lowe's was the one that could be exposed to light and was really sticky and it was the coolest stuff but not cheap.
So way not get a 12v cooler refrigerator on one side freezer on the other side you can get 200w solar panels that way you don't have to deal with the mess from ice having you food getting worm in the winter you can get ice from a lake
Thanks for giving me something to look forward to on Saturday morning again. Like GiJoe & Transformers but with sewing machines & chainsaws instead... Thank you my Forest Sage
Where I grew up, we called those snow slider sheets "crazy carpets." I think it might have been a brand name.
yes a party with tea toe and Sarah is i think way over do . but if not the kitchen will have to do lol . see ya next week buddy stay warm

Building a workshop out of recycled barn wood would be excellent!!👍
Thank you so much for your videos!
Your modern primitive skills are so entertaining to watch & something I look forward to each week!
Put culvert dug well on your list for projects for 2024. Now all frozen water problems are gone. I know damn rocks.
Auto parts stores have various size thin metal pans with a small lip all around. They are made to put under a vehicle to prevent drips on your garage floor. Great videos. Thanks - from Hells Canyon, Frank.

Very enjoyable with coffee like every Saturday, thanks, my friend!
Building a workshop would be awesome!
Thanks for living my dream life as Im getting to old. But have spent alot of time playing with chainsaws and in the woods back in the day. Keep up the great work always entertaining

Thanks for sharing, Ryan! It's a whole education watching you work through these projects.
I grew up in Canada, and we called them crazy carpets!

A late morning is a great morning!!
I would love to see a workshop build or even some of the kitchen made from recycled barn wood. Maybe even some of the barn wood recovery journey. ❤❤❤
To find similar material to those sleds, look up shipping and freight handling supply companies. There are pallet covers made of a slightly thicker plastic than those sleds. I would imagine various sizes can be found through them.
Thanks again Ryan, another entertaining Sat. morn. Jim from Oshawa
You are a talented dude, Ryan.
Providing you can keep it drained - dig/build a small root cellar for your water. It doesn't have to be deep under the ground to keep your water liquid. An oversize insulating lid will help a lot.

An expansion would be great. But if he starts expanding, I don't think he'll be able to stop.
now you got it... the stopping part is not an option ...where's the humor in that@@mkeyx82
Hi Ryan Happy new year 🎉🙏💖❤️🥰👍🇺🇸
We use boot trays for our water
buckets.
Your 1 Smart Man there Ryan!!! Have Sarah bring a big pot of chili soup already made for you to eat out there !!! Still waiting for you to put wheels on the cabin so you can change locations depending on your mood
If you gets. Old barn, youo need to start a farm! Lol
Yes way to much shower room will outside attire on if ya admin’ me! 😜 thanks for the videos! The are wonderful
We called them crazy carpets 👍🏼
Northern Michigan and UP are beautiful in the winter snow, but COLD.
Mornin 🖐😎👍

I hope we get to see Sara and Tito this time.
אוווו סוף סוף.....
זה רעיון מעולה
בית מלאכה ענק זה רעיון נהדר
אתה מדהים❤
Good morning, be safe stay well
You've probably told tons of people, but can you share what sewing machine that is? I'm assuming it's not made anymore, but that thing is a tank!

Congrats on 80k subs! Soon 100k
Yes, a Ryan-ized water collection system would be fun to watch!
If you ever make it as far as Traverse City they have polyethylene plastic in 4X8 sheets at Menards. Thanks for the video Ryan !

Your propane heat produces a lot of humidity too. That’s why your stuff condensates so much when you bring it inside.
Definitely find an old barn.
Hey Ryan I'm sure you have already got this comment but what if you skirted the cabin to help keep the floor warmer plus could double as storage.
Think about building an insulated shed for water water-added house
Time to build an addition on the canin
Another cool project. I am always amazed at your ability to use your knowledge to plan for what will work, and what will not. i.e. the difference in the threads. I too have been the victim of bait and switch when ordering online. Boo Hoo!
At our cabin we bring buckets of water and had the same problem. Now we have two short toates with no lids we set them in. Your way is definitely cooler.
Good morning sir
Go to your 'DEPOT' and get plastic mixing tubs for cement. They come in different sizes and are cheap.
Hey Ryan … I wonder if a green house would solve your issues with frozen water ? Your winter temps are way worse than mine … just an idea
You need a large male German Shepherd, 6 chickens, 2 outside cats, to build a chicken coop. This is really going to get more important as time goes on.
Dogs and chickens I agree with. Besides he's going to run out of lumber one of these days 😂
Same though crosses my mind often when watching Ryan's videos.
I love seeing you come up with different solutions but you could've gotten a 4x8 sheet of FRP and cut it to whatever size you needed.

I think he learned a lot of his construction skills from his dad.
Don't wait for a reply , he don't!
Ryan, you rock 👍
Blessings to you❤
Happy Anniversary to you and Sara, thanks for the videos
Happy new year my friend hope you are enjoying yourself stay safe bud
Don't put your guitar next to the heater. And if the humidity is that low, you might want to consider a hydration pack to put into your guitar. [2c]
I was gonna mention that too. too dry and that thing starts to crack...
Would a big very well insulated box to store the water buckets in the shower room work to keep the water unfrozen longer? You might want to seal up that corner of the sleds to deter the condensation from leaking. Thanks for the episode.

Nice work.
Hey, Ryan try doubling up your buckets. Maybe the sweat will stay contained
In between both of them.
we want to see some larger beams milled 4x6, 6x6 up to 8x8's !!!!!
Ryan, build an addition. We would love to see you build something big.
On the gear list, could you add your sewing machine? I’m impressed.
Saw this on Camarata’s channel, would be handy for moving logs! AGROTK 13.5 HP B&S 1 ton Mini Excavator, gasline | AGT-QH12
Awesome content
Love all the hard work
Skills on level 1000
It will condensate under the plastic and still ruin your floor. I have rubber backed floor rugs that the dogs lay on, and I still have condensation under a rubber backed carpet. They need to be set up above the floor

Good job with the build!
Happy new year
Awesome awesome 👏🏻
what about building a add on to the cabin for all ur extra stuff like water and that with a shelfs to put stuff on
I use a #24 needle and I have sewn through 1/4” plywood.
No problemo!
40mil vinyl shower pan liner would also work to protect your floor. Home Depot carries it.
You better go ahead and acquire the barn wood because reclaimed lumber is going up in price QUICKLY!
The plastic sleds looked like the thing my wife rools cookie dough on lol good video man
You could add on the back, but you would fill that up also.
You need to build a giant hour glass to keep track of that heating water
So way not get a 12v cooler refrigerator on one side freezer on the other side you can get 200w solar panels that way you don't have to deal with the mess from ice having you food getting worm in the winter you can get ice from a lake
Did I miss an episode? I don't remember a dolly being built for the cooler. Could someone remind me when that was?
Love the video 🙏💖❤️🥰👍🇺🇸
