      They are a lot of work and attention time, but worth it if your able and have the money and room in your house for a dog. It’s really harder with a small dog. I have a six lb. Shih Tzu and she’s so smart, she will try every trick in the book to get your attention. I just got a Super ultrasonic do chaser. It has different levels, and works like magic. I love it. I use it on the lowest level and that’s all she needs. Grooming, do you have enough money for that.? This channel can tell you everything you need to know about dog ownership. I’ve watched a lot of the videos and they have helped except I’m a little stricter.

      ONLY SECOND feeding time. I tell her “Here” at her rug in the living room to “sit.stay” but the second she hears the feeding alarm she runs into the restroom (where she potties and eats I STAY AT HOME 24/7 and she only goes potty if someone is awake to clean. Putting her water bowl at the end of the restroom encourages her to KEEP going in there.) Well once she’s IN the restroom while I’m STILL waiting for her to come back she just SITS THERE waiting FOR ME. So I ignore her and just try feeding her every 10mins again. Now the problem is she’ll lay out in the living room for HOURS but the second it’s feeding time she just PEES.
      Today though she did come to me, but the second I was about to say sit she ran away and then ran back to me and peed AROUND ME.
      Why is she doing this... she doesn’t even LOOK her most excited.
      Edit: She just started doing this a week ago I don’t know why because I do this everyday and she had it down already

    NEED HELP. We have a 17 week old German Shepherd pup. We got her at a little older than 5 weeks and have had her since. We live in an apartment so potty training has not started until last week because we needed to wait on her to finish her Parvo series. Every time we grab/touch her with the leash she submissively pees. It's not a trickle she empties her bladder. same thing with unlocking the door, or opening the crate... Cannot potty train her because she does not even make it to outside at all. By the time we get her outside her bladder is empty. I even did not acknowledge her for about 20-30 min while she was in the crate, she had a leash on that was laying outside of the crate, I backed up to the crate, grabbed the leash, un-hinged the crate and she still emptied her bladder... She knows she is supposed to go outside because we have gotten her to pee outside a few times and poo. We made a huge deal about it (got excited, gave pets/treats etc.). We trying to walk her every 2-3 hours but basically what we are doing is mopping every 2-3 hours. Help would be unimaginably appreciated.

    Thank you for this video I have a pomsky who’s 9 months and he’s pretty good for the most part but lately friends or family guests will come and next thing you know he’s at the door peeing all over the floor. I have even tried having g him outside for a long time before they arrive to ensure he’s empty. But next thing you know, all Excited and peeing all
    Over. He does not do It this when my husband or I come Home. He’s very calm untilI say hello to him and does not pee. And he doesn’t do it ever time so. It sure. I liked your idea of having him stay on his mat or bed until greeted by the guest that doesn’t sound like an easy task. Now that he’s used to greeting anyone and everyone at the door. I have a seven or eight month old Shiz Tzu, and I blocked off a 10x12 I change of baby gates. It has a clean whit curtían curtain in front of her so she will sleep. Also I keep all the lights really low when it’s sleep time. I’m no expert y train her . She I’d such a small dog it’s easy to do this worked so well, I thought I’d share it. I bought a plastic under the bed container and put her pads which fit perfectly, and for three day it was Mia time. That’s her name. I set one of those old time timers for fifteen minutes, and put her in ther. I was diligent and determined to potty train her. I did this for three days during the daytime. Luckily she slept 12 hours a night with a nap too. If you can find a way to set up a place in your house, you will be amazed. In three days she was potty trained. No treats, because it sets up a bad behavior needing treats all the time. She was so happy with a lot of praise and play time. When she was little, I would keep her in ther and go in and play with her. She was only 4 lbs. so the area was big for her. I would also take her out for special times, like going potty, and hold her on my lap. I don’t knowing you, but my story is so incredible that I thought I’d share it with you. Maybe something will work for you. Now she loves her cage. I never use it as punishment. I just don’t pay her any attention or look at her eyes. THREE DAYS!!! And she was really trained. No accidents. If you get a plastic tub, make sure the sides are really low. The papers don’t get chewed on and it doesn’t matter if it has wheels. Let me know how it goes for you and if you try any of my tricks. If I have her out of her pen and someone knocks on the door. I immediately put her in the pen and shut the curtains. You could buy a long clothes hanger to put the curtains. Also measure everything! The box. The pads. The curtían hanger and curtains. It could be smaller, but i have a weird living room that justs out in the perfect size. It may be hard at first if she or he is used to being free to roam the house. Trust me a couple days of wining is worth the effort. From you unknologable, friend.

    So does this work with older dogs? I have a 2 year old rescue that excitedly pees when I get home. I immediately let her out of her kennel and as soon as I put on her leash to go outside, she pees. So maybe I should let her out of her kennel, go about other business for......10 minutes, and then put on her leash? She's such a velcro dog though so I don't know if she'll calm down before. Usually her bathroom break is her reset button.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It sounds like you'll need to work specifically on the crate to leash process to teach her how to be more calm during that sequence. You might also want to wait to let her out of the kennel until she's calm, so she doesn't associate you coming home with an immediate release from the kennel.

    I have. Seven lb Shih Tzu, and we leave her outside on a 50x20 lead. It’s on a farm and I could never just let her run. I worry that a large hawk or eagle will swoop down and grab her because it’s a wide open space. Have you ever heard of anything like this?? I know she could not take her because she is on a lead but the hawk or whatever could certainly drop her from a high height. Please let me know . They do it with rabbits all the time and she’s about the size of a rabbit. I’m constantly going to the door to make sure she is ok.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do not puppies leaving dogs out by themselves, not only can they eat things and get into things they aren't supposed to but people come by and steal dogs they see outside, and a hawk definitely can try to steal as well as fox, coyote, bear or other animals. Unfortunately, it happens quite often :-( We always recommend going out with your dog and bringing them in when you can't stay outside.

      Thank you so much fo thenadvice. Now I know for sure. We’re on an 80 acre farm and there anre no cars, or people , were just surrounded by an orchard and woods. But knowing that other animals might eat them for sure is so comforting, so I’ll just change my whole life.. ha ha , no, I just will stay outhtere with her. We were so used to our farm dogs that had thee run of the whole farm. They both just died a week apart, so I’m super imhave a new pup to fill those sad moments. They were large dogs, and she’s a. ShiTzu and it’s totally different. She is so tiny and fragile and she needs mor attention. But the amazing thing is she sleeps from 5:00 pm to 10:30 in the morning. No nap. It’s the best, and she is brilliant. I have taught her so many tricks and she’s about 5 months old.

    I do not appreciate spending a long time watching a video before I realize that it's really just a prolonged advertisement for paid content elsewhere. This is called "bait & switch" and it is an unethical business practice. If you want to use TH-cam as merely an advertisement for your paid content, then you should say so right up front, preferably in the first ten seconds.

      This will come down to teaching her a different way to react to the new people coming in. If potty training is going well, then this is a habit that is created from the overstimulation of visitors. You can desensitize that process and teach her a different behavior instead ("go to your bed" "stand at my feet" "sit on the mat").

      The four main components of potty training are 1. Reward when the puppy does the right thing - pees and/or poops in the designated potty spot 2. Restrict access in the home to prevent accidents and bad habits from forming 3. Clean up with the right product like Nature’s Miracle and 4. Stick to a routine. It sounds like you may have to restrict access to that duvet for right now and be sure to use a cleaner like Nature's Miracle to neutralize the urine that has soaked through.

    Hello! I feel like I have an uncommon problem with my puppy... I have looked up so many videos and articles and have only found videos on the topic of "excited peeing" but my puppy only pees when she is scared! This can range from peeing because of thunderstorms, her parents fighting, or us yelling because she or her sister are chewing on things they shouldn't. They are now a year old and the peeing behavior had gotten much worse. How do I fix it when she is scared of everything?

    A couple of weeks ago I saved a nervous chihuahua from getting hit by a car it was so scary. But I had the stop the son of the owner from chasing it as it was making it worse. So I got the dog and when the owner came to it she shouted at it saying that he was such a bad dog, and he peed because he was frightened. I feel so bad for that dog and I hope he’s ok and that the owners sort themselves out.

      oh no, that's so sad. Yes we never recommend chasing a dog, this actually pushes them further away, almost every time!

      Yes and that’s what was happening so I told him to stand still and it stopped running and I nelt down and it came over to me. And I’m glad I was there to save it and to stop them from causing it to go back on the road.

    My dog is 2 years old, is it too late to stop this behavior?

      No it's not too late, but you may need some assistance. Maybe look into hiring a local positive reinforcement trainer!

      You might want to focus on a different way for him to greet you without so much excitement.

    My dog is 6 months and still pees when excited 🤦🏽‍♀️ he gets caged as punishment. Idk what to do. I’m about to start putting him in diapers.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog

      We do not recommend using the crate as punishment. This is not an effective way to teach a puppy. Instead, we have to teach them the behavior we want to see. We recommend starting with our Better Puppy Behavior Workshop to learn more about how your puppy’s brain works and how to adjust your training dial accordingly.

      Remember we don't give our pups free roam of the home if they haven't gone outside. Be sure to watch the potty training lesson in the new puppy starter kit. howtotrainadreamdog.com/new-puppy-starter-kit/

    Why does my puppy roll over and pee on herself when I take her out of her crate for potty

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We would definitely need more information to be able to give you a helpful answer to this question. The first thing that comes to mind is maybe your pup needs to be let out of the crate sooner than you are letting her out now. Puppies can only hold their bladder up to one hour per month of age. Check out our video on the daily schedule to learn more about this: th-cam.com/video/7tVJSbcHJVw/w-d-xo.html
