This is just my experience:
I've just found an old slingshot I left in a drawer some years ago.
The latex is like rotten, it breaks very easy. However the rubber tire (I used to tie the latex) is like new.
And when they are new, latex stripes starts to tear 5 times faster than rubber ones.

great test mate. was just about to buy some latex to test with the tb gold to see what is best. tb gold gives me 70 shots before it snaps at the pouch, but im sure ill only get about the same with latex. for only 10fps more its not worth me buying the latex over the tb gold unless i can find it for the same price or cheaper. im gonna stick to the tb gold if i cant find it for the same cost. ya just saved me some $ cheers mate.

Yes, you`r right!
Hygenic is the producer of the TheraBand stuff. The "TheraBand" product line is just a marketing idea of Hygenic to sell more latex I guess...
However, TheraBand and the natural latex are the best materials for slingshot bands.

could you write what type of natural latex is that and where to buy?
the chrony he uses there is a chronograph, he doesn't actually hit it but the steelball will induct electricity as it passes the coils in there. the chrony measures the time gap between the induction into the first coil at the front and the second one at the rear and calculates the velocity of the projectile from that data.
You should have done at least 3 runs of each - there is a variable but it seems correct the variable is in favor to a very tiny margine to the Brown latex bands. I would like to try this demonstration but may have a hard time finding that latex. Thanks for the video !! Educational.
I haven't been able to find natural latex flat banding anywhere. Only surgical tubing.
Thankyou for this video! I wasnt very impressed with Theraband Gold either even though others Rave about it! ..Interesting to see how much faster the Natural Latex is That Said i use Snipersling Black .8 cut at 35mm 25mm and get excellent results using 9.5mm Steel
Is there anything in the works for a Supplier in your area of the Hygenic Latex .030 which is what I am thinking you are using?

Unfortunately not :(
We tried to buy it directly from Hygenic. But they sell only whole rolls (45yards...), and the shipping costs ...650 $ for two rolls to Germany, plus taxes, plus custom taxes - simply to much!!
And McMaster Carr don`t sell and ship overseas.

i was using 10mm lead for them. i think it was the way i tied the ends to the pouch aswell. i now use 20mm tbg no taper and i sorta roll the ends of the rubber before tying it to the pouch, i get alot more shots this way i find. i get about 500 shots with 9.5mm steel witch is fine for me.

I think the big difference is consistency. Latex as a natural product might differ from one segment to the next, making for inconsistent expansion. The best rubber would need to be very precisely formulated and refined.

"Hygenic" is the company what produces this latex.
You can buy large rolls (25-45 yards) from Hygenic directly and smaller sheets from McMaster Carr (US only).

I have Theraband Gold and started getting interested in finding out how much weight I'm really pulling.
If I have 1 inch wide bands and a 10 and 20 inch draw (I'm experimenting with rollers), how many bands per side would I need to reach a draw of about 45 lbs or about 20.5 kg ? Could I do it with just Theraband tube rubber? I've heard flat bands are better but The Slingshot Channel also makes things with tubing.

the faster the bullet hits the target, is greater the force to stop it (considering both allways the same proyectile). so by action and reaction, the faster the slingshot launches the bullet, the harder it hits, so its more powerfull. faster and "lighter draw" means more efficient and more powerfull.

yes, that seems right. I think there are also a few more additives in TBG.
.030 Natural Latex from Hygenic is absolutly the best and if you are fortunate to have a source you will see that it is more consistant than Thereaband, In my opinion. A very good video, thanks.

One thing I have never heard discussed is SHELF LIFE of the various band choices. If I want to have a few slingshots and a lot of spare bands for a SHTF long-term situation, will I still have anything useful as a "rubber band" five years, or ten years, from now? Without the bands, the slingshot is useless.
Will latex store longer? How long? Does it make any difference how I store it (heat, cold, light, etc?)
resistance bands can last for years of use, you see gross old rubber training bands at gyms that still has its kick.

Hard to say - in my experience the natural latex.
Other shooters say the TB gold lasts longer...

True, latex is more elastic than the inner tires. But less durable...hm, I have my doubts!
If you use straight cut latex stripes, same thickness as the inner tires - you will not get less shots from those bands I guess.
Plus: we will NEVER get the same performance from inner tire bands as from thinner latex bands.
However, they are cheap, many shooters use them and I`m sure that one can have fun shootin this stuff!

I have some of the thinner stuff, 0.2 inch thickness. It is faster than the 0.3 inch latex!

Why is the 29 cm long butterfly band "tapered" so much (from 22 to 11 mm) whereas the shorter 21 cm long band is almost of constant width (25 to 20 mm)?

dane reehl his shots were so inconsistently drawn it is ridiculous anybody supports this as a field test. He must favor of the opinion of the text because he drew for the back on the second and munition her just to make sure that it was going to clear a higher speed. Same action was repeated last ammunition.
That`s true - Latex is not very durable if it is left for years. It needs to be stored in an airtight box and sunlight protected!
The rubber has some additives that`protects it from such environmental influences.
Ok - maybe you are right in terms of the better durability of the rubber. I have not the experience in shooting that stuff. If it works for you then it is fine!

what band material lasts the longest? Also, what is the butterfly method?
Normally, the pouch is pulled to the cheek below the dominant eye for aiming purposes. With the butterfly method, the pouch is pulled further past the head, as you can see the shooter doing. It's for extra power, but it takes a lot more practice.
Wow didn't know latex is that strong I do like Theraband Gold but its expensive in my country maybe I'll go for Joerg' s SHTF slingshot using Latex condom since natural Latex not available here.

yea guns are pretty worthless without ammo unless u swing it like a club.. can always find a rock or bolt or somethin

Most newbies shoot TBG, plus it is more popular. So it MUST be better than the real stuff - natural latex..., right? :))
Why don't you taper bands and cut them to your draw length. They would have to be different lengths on account of the amount each material can max expand
