Myunique first started watching porn when she was just 9 years old.
What started as a natural curiosity about sex eventually escalated into a compulsive habit that caused her to isolate herself and negatively impacted her overall mental health.
Myunique shares how her consumption of porn escalated and what ultimately led her to see pornography as an issue in her life.
Fight the New Drug is a non-religious and non-legislative organization that exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding pornography by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts.

The exposure to p0rn was so traumatizing to me both mentally and physically. It left my genitalia physically damaged for some time given how often and how violently I engaged in masturbation. I wasn’t prepared to consume such content in any sort of healthy way.

No one is capable of using “such content” in a healthy way…

They say that porn can cause depression.... but in my life I have noticed the depression comes first. That is to say I am more likely to use porn if I am going through a low period. If I am in a bright period and functioning normally porn is not an issue. I may enjoy it from time to time but it does not become compulsive or a problem. Of course if a person gets down and uses porn alcohol or drugs as a coping method then it is likely to eventually make the depression worse. Porn and alcohol and drugs are not usually a problem for happy well balanced people. They can take or leave a drink... and maybe use some drugs recreationally from time to time or watch some porn without problems. The problem is not the porn or the alcohol or the drugs... the problem is how the individual uses them. The alcoholic for instance is a person who uses alcohol to deal with depression and unhappiness in their life... in other words they use alcohol to self-medicate.

I understand what you mean, but porn is bad in itself. It is an exploitative, violent industry. It abuses people, especially women. And it grooms kids, who watch it from very early ages, because it is so ubiquitous. It is bad for self esteem, bad for your relationship with women, bad for your view of women, bad for a commited, monogamous relationship, bad for your performance in bed.

Thank you for that comprehensive and succinct summary. You are right of course... all forms of prostitution are problematic for those doing it and those using it. It's been around forever but the internet has exponentially increased its reach and effects... and as you say the most vulnerable are the children.
Children growing up today also have to deal with gender activists in their schools telling them they can be a boy or a girl or neither and encouraging them to use synthetic hormones and get irreversible surgeries.
I dont think we have any idea yet what the outcome of all this will be.
All that said I do watch some porn... mostly amateur stuff... I dont like the porn star studio stuff... and I read some erotica from time to time. I'm an older solo guy and I dont use prostitutes... so DIY.

Yes porn is just what our brain is using to “treat” our uncomfortable emotions, unfortunately along with that jolt of dopamine it also results in a depleted dopamine level which does directly result in depression. Therefore porn use is both the cause of and the result of depression or other uncomfortable emotions.

I think if you overdo porn and get sucked into it it will have negative effects on your mood and wellbeing... no doubt. Like all things in life discernment & moderation are key to safe use.
