Thank you. I just said the same thing on another posting of a video on this mansion. I don’t care for the boarding house look, or all the very dark thick bulky wood and molding.
Actually so many said that the outside looks like a school but for me what stand the most are the craftsmanship of the wood works. If I have a money I will buy it and this mansion will be pass on to generation to generation of my family.
Wow! That’s really something what an amazing home. I love how the upstairs has that old style palatial look, but down stairs has a modern vibe to it. Best of both worlds. Definitely worth the 48 million dollars
The exterior looks like a public high school in an upper middle class neighborhood that was built in the 90s...and it’s in New Jersey. If I had the money, I wouldn’t spend it on this!
Not to mention the inside with all that very dark thick bulky wood and molding everywhere and layout is also a reason not to buy for those people left with discerning taste and sense.
@@CuriousEarthMan Not quite, more like an American robber baron with bad tastes interpretation of sn English manor, grand English manors had elegance. The interior of this place is big and bulky. Dark thick bulky wood and molding everywhere, is not what one usually finds in a grand English manor house. Usually the carvings in the English manor houses are not as thick and bulky and are more refinded and elegant and often more detailed fit for nobility, or even royalty. This place on the other hand is depressing like living in a fancy psychiatric hospital.
its located about 20 or so minutes outside of manhattan and in one of the countrys top 20 richest county, bergen county, that might have change, and close to the top 10 richest zip code by town, in alpine new jersey. northern new jersey is right outside nyc and an easy commute a lot of NFL and NBA players and celebrity lives in or own homes in new jersey.
its in one of the nicest towns of new jersey, its extremely large with a very low crime rate and something to do everywhere you go. i grew up in the crappy town next to it.
No disrespect, but The Stone Mansion in Alpine especially given its current price is a far better deal than "The American Versailles". Not only is Stone Mansion equipped with modern amenities. But in terms of its exterior there is simply nothing like it in the country.
Definitely looks like a public high school from the outside - but oh the interior is to die for!! So vintage and royal looking. All the little details. Only problem, who wants to live in New Jersey... 😬😂
This would have to be for someone who have a medieval taste. However; I can appreciate the charm of the home without it being something I would purchase if I had the funds to do so.
But the architecture isn’t medieval , it’s Jacobean, nearly a hundred years after what we would consider “medieval” if one would consider the Tudor age medieval.
Can I ask are you really going to have 58 people staying in 58 rooms or is there like other things are doing with some of the rooms they're not just bedrooms sleeping in
oh, a masterpiece of "early public high school" style....well, it's Jacobean revival, or English Renaissance Revival...same as used for public school buildings in the 1920s in the U.S. and after. Not my taste, but I do hope somebody saves it. I say, may I have less brick, and more carved limestone please? And less wood inside, and more carved marble and another helping of carved limestone please?
@@henrylivingstone2800 or a cottage in Newport.....a mansion on fifth ave.....a guilded age palace, often built in neoclassical style, but not Jacobean. it's just a matter of taste I think. I could live in a museum like the met in NY for example.
Bramshill House in Hampshire, England which is the early 17th century house that served as the model for this reconstruction in New Jersey is currently on the market with a guide price of $10-$12.5M. I'd choose the original any day. The re-model done to the lower floor of this house to modernize it is criminal in my opinion. You couldn't find a clearer example of the difference between American and European sensibilities if you tried.
I wouldnt say criminal, as long as these two areas are clearly separated. After all someone needs to buy this thing, and this is a lot better then the wet and moldy cellars in a lot of the european castles. And after all, even when Americans call these things castles, they are not. There are no castles in America. Only mansions, houses. PS. the most inappropriate thing for me here are this gazebo thing in the garden which looks like from any private home and the pools which also dont fit a "Versailles". Like other parts they are just kitsch.
Looks like a boarding school

Now let me see the batcave
it's Like Gatsby's mansion wow!
Was it as hideous as this boarding school mansion with dark thick and bulky wood everywhere, and big oversized bulky furniture?

Jesus Christ you’re under every comment just hating on classical interior architecture.

its for someone who works in nyc but wants a getaway place to hide the mistress
built in the same style: English renaissance revival, or Jacobean style. often used for schools in the 'early-ish' 20th century.

Seamless restoration of the historic building fabric juxtaposed to a massive failure of the basement level.
No, I won't give you a deal at $48million. Make it $48 and you have a deal.
Shark Tank Showcase What about 48 cents
What about nothing?
Waste of money

The only way this kind of purchase would make sense is to convert it into a luxury hotel ...
How do you dust this place

That woman in Massachusetts who won 700 million powerball lottery in August, could probably afford to buy this Mansion flat out.
this place is crazy rich inside but the outside looks like a hotel or something but sure doesnt look like a house!
What is the latest update of this building today? Sold or still up for sale? Please comment on this question. Thank you.
Still for sale. At 48,000,000 dollars.
Sold for 26m

*_IT LOOKS LIKE THE HIGH SCHOOL FROM iCarly!_*
The corridors remind me the movie "Shining"...
New Jersey though.
Nothing near Versailles. It is just a mansion
Creepy house. Oh and I also don't have $48 mil.
Looks like a high school.

It's 58 ROOMS, not bedrooms. It's 21 bedrooms, 29 bathrooms.
Great Mansion ……..
Elegant. ❤️
Big thick dark molding and wood everywhere is not elegant. Looking like a boarding school is not elegant!
@@MySensualWorld Some people find it elegant some people don't. Don't shove your opinion on other people's throat

Does American knows how Versailles looks like? Are they that ignorant to call this a Versailles?
Pius X Also it's more English than French in Architecture. The fact that it's created after a Castle in England make it even worse 😂
