Alpine is a gated community. I lived in the same county and the one thing everyone agreed on is that Alpine is only for the really rich people. The kids in that town all go to a private school. I remember during Halloween, my friends and I would always go to Alpine cause they gave the best things. One house gave mp3 players and this was in 2007! What I'm trying to say here is that, if you can live in Alpine, you can afford maids.
Of crouse, that's the problem with these houses, not enough people rich enough to afford these kinds of houses. Most people would rather rent then buy and think these kinds of houses are just pointless.

That's interesting, because we live in the first town over the GWB in NJ (Fort Lee), and it still takes 15-30 mins on average just to get over the bridge to UPPER Manhattan. Driving up to Alpine from Fort Lee takes another 10 minutes in of itself. Even if you were commuting at 2AM in no traffic, you could "possibly" do it in 45 minutes. During rush hour? Try 1 1/2 hours or more.

Alpine is definitely not 45 min.-1 1/2 hours from Manhattan. I'm a Native New Yorker who lives in Bergen county, 15 minutes away from Alpine. Geographically, Alpine is 8 miles from NY. You must be in some serious rush hour traffic or taking a different route, if you can't get over the GW from Fort Lee or Alpine, in 45 or more.
You wouldn't believe the no name, not so famous people who have that kind of money especially people from the Auto manufacturing, internet cable T.V. and computer world, These people are worth mega millions then there are the Investors from other countries etc. There's also a lot of old handed down money in California, rich parents pass away, kids inheriting entire fortunes, parents bought their mansions 20 to 30 yrs ago for a million or 2, now today same mansion worth $30 to 40 million.
