I would love to see how it integrates with Cakewalk. I'm suspicious of hardware that was designed for specific software, and then gets the label "works with every DAW". Might be true, but how painstaking will it be to install it for a smooth workflow? But you, Mike, did a great job. The presentation makes me seriously think about buying it.
Im definitely going to buy one when i can. U sold me. I was pretty sold before hand, but now i really want one. I have the Atom and im really enjoying it. Its my first performance pad type controller, and i like its functionality and integration with Studio One, but the SQ looks like such an upgrade to the Atom. I like how the pads are more sensitive on the SQ, cause thats my only criticism to the Atom. The Atom is still pretty sensitive, but i wish it was a little more sensitive. I like having after touch, but sometimes it messes up my performances by missing some hits when quickly switching between fingers and not fully lifting up my first strike before the next. I know thats something i need to adjust in my performance though.
I bought mine for the Studio One integration, your right the pads are above the average I like them more than my MPC Live pads and AKAI are known to have some of the best pads in the market, hat I love is how sensitive they are I find myself barely touching the pads to get some really great sounds and emotion,I have a ROLI,LUMI, and the Expressive E Touche SE this is the cheapest (Tied with Touche SE) you will find with many extra functions, very easy to use. (Another good feature I like is the changing the Pads from blocks, keys and continuous then changing the scale there are 11 different scales and you can close your eyes and just Jam, very nice, also there are options to make each pad a chord and a sequenced arpeggiator its swing. there are 8 banks for lots of extra control, and the LEDs in the Pads are probably the brightest I have ever seen, I turn mine down to 5% they are that bright (at 20% they are comparable to the MPC at 100% they are blinding I can Not look directly at them, but that’s a good thing, if I had to use it outside on a bright day you would easily see the lights in the pads.). One thing I wish they would add is MPE expression, its weird but I find myself playing it like it has it already just because the way the sensitivity feels. If anyone is thinking of getting one but on the fence click here and get yours with payments easy and with no interest www.zzounds.com/a--3974152/item--PRSATOMSQ (I literally buy all my gear here because of the payment plan †hey offer, currently I am finishing paying on my Softube Console 1 MK2 + Fader. It's so much easier to buy gear this way, all you need is a debit card and that’s it. The ATOM SQ was my first purchase this way turned $250 up front into $62.50 x 4 months.
This is an Underrated controller. At first. I don't get the layout and the screen creates confusion but after 2 days I understood and had so much fun. It has a really good integration with Studio one 6. The only thing I complained was the knobs, it don't have a default settings. it has an easy integration with Ableton live too. Overall, this is a great controller especially if you're using STUDIO one 6.
It Works great with Studio One 5 (not 4!) and if you use the Presonus VST, than it works great with it. With other VSTi it works not so good. I can change the presets with Atom SQ at Presonus VSTi, but not with other great like Native Instruments or Aturia. So, i have to change between Atom SQ and Mouse too often.. The "Shift" Key isn't placed so good on the right (lefthand were better). The Transport-Buttons are not usefull, if you have some on Masterkeyboard or Faderport.. In Use I too often searching for a function i need now.. Seems often that it change its Place :D Needs many time, if you familar with it ;)

Question about the smaller atom. Does it change the note values on the "piano roll" if you wish to use your mouse to program the notes? Like if you used it as away to speed up the process without a "performance".
Thanks Mike for another insightful video. Question, Can someone use NI Maschine Mk3, NI Control Mk2, Presonus Faderport, or other controllers with this Atom SQ, or would they have issues with USB or conflicts, do have Studio One Pro 5, Cubase Pro 10.5, FL Studio 20, and other daw's, any ideas. Would help before purchase. Know FaderPort has a bundle of software, quite good, included, does this also.
With other VSTis from other vendors like Arturia, NI, Uhe, etc. it doesn't work well. So bad... :( ATOM Controllers feels a bit clumsy and toyish for me. I would like to have the new wonderful and completely freely configurable!!! Cubase 12 Midi Remote Integration in Studio One too. :(
I could buy it but i won't ii think what you're paying is for all those features which you don't need as long as u have mouse i am thinking right now to get instead M Audio keystation mini 32 good enough for me with very sensitive keys it will do job just the same as this one if not better and it is cheaper, Atom even doesn't look like keyboard i am not saying it is not good but i prefer keyboard choice is yours
@@CreativeSauce Nice! It looks perfect for my setup. I reckon if I sell my Faderport 2 I'll be able to get it. I'll hold off until I see yer review though! 😁
I would have bought this the reason I didn't is because I bought studio one 5 artist before this product was released when I found out this product came with studio one 5 artist included I was upset because I would have bought just this product so basically I'm nothing going pay the full price of this product after buying full price of something I already own studio one 5 artist so basically I hope there will be a discount version without studio one 5 artist included lol 🙏🏾😷🙏🏾
Sorry to say but Presonus is not a good company and you should never buy their products. If you own there crap then pray it never breaks because THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. That aside, love your Cakewalk tutorals!
Just got the SQ it’s a game changer.
Great review, Sir. Could you make a detailed video on how to use the Atom SQ with Studio One 5?
The best controller I ever had
Hello Mike, great to see this video. Hoping you will be doing deeper tutorials with the ATOM SQ and Studio One. 🙏🏽🌞

Great overview and for me, this has been the best presentation for this product to date so far!

It's highly rated in every review
i am a studio one user. Would you recommend this or the Arturia Minilab 3?
Thank you for reviewing this. Been looking at it for a while.
Great review! Is it possible to control the mixer on focus mode (volume, panning & sends) with it?

@Andreas Sonnenschein
Thanks for a concise mini-review and critique.
How well does this integrate with logic pro?
Great video thank you! Hey, is there a way to FF/REW with this? I can't seem to figure out how to do that!
Nicely shot mate!
Hi Mike, you gotta give a Roli Seaboard Block a go. Great for Sax and solo strings as well as vocal stuff. Have a great day mate. 🤪🎈
OMG - now you said it. OK

You mean review the Erae Touch surely ? 😂
ill be super happy with mine when pattern automation (Repeat, velocity, delay etc) has been added....

Hi, what stand are you using for the Atom SQ?
Does it work with external hardware as a synth ?
Great review again Mike - looks like a nice bit of kit!
Hi, is it possible to test how it works under Cubase?
Ty so much for the highly informative to the point video!
The Cpu keyboard look is very nostalgic and minimal

How well does it work with Fl studio?
I'm going to get one of these soon. Thank you!

What stand are you using to angle it the way you have it?
anything with lights draws us to the device, like a moth to a flame.
Sold! Looks like it’ll be great for my studio and with studio one 5.

That is gorgeous, but the Presonus Iostation is still my next buy...

What do you recommend then as an alternative to Atom SQ?
Buy from Sweetwater, they give you 2 yr warranty on whatever you buy for free.
