    Which ATOM would you get?

    • @kierancutter8739

      i have them both. Buy the SQ. it does everything the atom can do.
      i've had issues with them both though.
      The original atom has digital feedback when i use it, but it has a couple of handy dedicated buttons like the show/hide and the editor button.
      apart from that the SQ can do everything.
      a few bad things about the SQ is menu diving, and i have to unplug the usb everytime i start up for it to register.

      That’s how I feel about it. Unless you HAVE to have the big pads I say go SQ. I agree on the menu diving though but that’s just what happens when you have such a compact unit.

      Had the orginal ATOM but instantly sold it, as my SQ arrived.

      I got both actually 😁😅💯 all my gear is Presonus actually with the exception of a Akai mpk 249

    I think the Atom is more practical, sub menus suck and I really don't see why anyone would want to play chords and melodies on pads when a midi keyboard, (even a small one) would be far superior. The only time I could see it being beneficial is for mobile use or making tracks at a coffee shop. Good review and comparison though. I just don't think the sq demands an extra hundred bucks. You could buy a 100 dollar keyboard to go with the regular Atom and have better functionality and work flow.

    I own both they are cheap enough. I use the atom for drumming and the sq for playing

  • @RadekPilich

    Easy solution for indicating selected scale would be to light up / flash pads as you scroll through the scales - pad 1 for major, pad 2 for minor etc.

    eventually will get both, but ordering the SQ now partly for the scale only feature (I'm new to ALL of this, and any shortcut/ help will aid). But agree the Atom itself looks better for finger drumming - so while not now, soon. Thank you for this video!

    I had both, at the end I kept the original Atom. For some reason the sq acted funny (weird) with a lot of features and still prefer my nektar impact lx25 for the (keys) features.

      Yeah i was bummed because I wanted to love my SQ but its quirks were annoying. I hated how anytime I tried to use it for keys it would double input midi notes.

    • @haroldbones84
      @haroldbones84 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nathanielcava5860 Yeah, I think they would be better off making a new one but with the focus of the first one , something like the push for Ableton. But Presonus/Fender aren't looking to please us music producers anytime soon 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Another great video! I have the original Atom and very satisfied with it, having other midi keyboards to play chords and melodies I think I will stay put for now, put looking forward to the Atom 2 and hope they listen to your suggestions about linking it to the piano roll. Vthatguy

    *Bro, I already have a Maschine MK3 and Komplete Kontrol S49 Keyboard, and so far i've strictly been making beats in the Maschine software. I wanna get a little more advanced and start using a full DAW, and I'm sold on studio one, but how well can I control it with my MK3 and KK S49 in comparison to an ATOM/ATOM SQ and a Faderport 16? I'm happy to buy all this shit but I just wanna figure out how to best change my workflow. I wanna be looking at the screen as little as possible and be on the hardware as much as I can. Considering all these options, what kinda set up would you recommend?*

    • @SpyderBlackOfficial

      Maschine works within studio one as a vst Plugin but it's cumbersome. I just stick to Atom. Just trust me you wont regret it. The regular atom is easy & fun to use.

    How can I browse my own samples in the browser with a pad selected in IMPACT XT and use my Atom to select a sample so I can trigger it (without having to drag it with my mouse on the selected pad)? I can browse files with the Atom but not select them to a pad with the select button....This seems crazy to me but can't find anything to do this very basic and simple task. Nothing from Presonus anywhere. Do you have any idea?

    The Atom pad controller is a nice addition to my studio. I'm using it from last year and it saves a lot of time in production as well as mixing projects. But the only issue I face using it is that it produces a weird high pitch noise on constant basis. It gets captured into the recordings and also disturbs in mixing process. I've replaced the unit with new one, but the new Atom also has the same issue. Does the Atom SQ controller has same annoying high pitch sound? Also the Atom pad has no switch to turn off and the bright pads are painful when not working on music.

    • @frankwalders
      @frankwalders 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same issue and also had a new unit from Presonus, but with exactly the same issue. Very bad I must say. There is a sort of workaround it occurs audible mainly with the white and the blue pads on. There are many ways to turn those off. For example putting it in edit mode etc…

      Do you have a ferrite bead on your usb cable? Sounds like a power conditioning problem. It most likely is DEFINITELY a power conditioning problem. Also to turn the lights down exit studio one and the universal control, basically have nothing open so that the atom has a green logo. Press shift + Setup, then press "Bank" three times. Only issue is you have to do that every time you turn it back on and before you want to work inside studio one. You can only change the brightness when the logo is green.

    • @RahulSimaro
      @RahulSimaro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HoldMyBeerFam I'm using the provided USB cable by Presonus and also tried to use different cables. But there is a issue in the manufacturing of the product itself. I have contacted the presonus customer support team many times and they also noticed that there is a known defect in their Atom lineup.

    • @frankwalders
      @frankwalders 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HoldMyBeerFam It most DEFINITELY is NOT a power issue, at least it has nothing to do with the cable or lightning in the studio, believe me I tried everything. Power supply inside the unit most definitely, it's just badly designed, with conflicting components. I also owned the SQ for some time, it didn't have any similar issues.
