It's Barthold Kuijken, one of the two brothers of Sigiswald Kuijken.
Superbe !
Bach and Kuijken. Perfection!
bravo Sigiswald and your little band
we started a Osaka Live serries, all other films can be found on our channel! Thanks for sharing! LPB HQ
It's a "violencello da spalla" or sholder cello... Sigiswald also recorded the cello Suites from Bach on it.. LPB HQ
But in this vid he play violin
best performance I ever heard - solo perfectly articulated, tempo, everything, just pure ecstasy - thank yoU!
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO. What a wonderful way to start the day!!! BRIAN
Maravilloso
Check out Benjamin Alards Bach inventions and sinfonias. Excellent work as always.
Everyone sounds good.
Benjamin Alard on the harpsichord makes a very impressive contribution to the already exquisite playing of the Kuijken brothers and La Petite Bande. He avoids any temptation for cheap effect (which is so common with this piece), relying solely on the inner resources of the music. Almost reminds me of young Leonhardt (R.I.P.)
Meraviglia assoluta!!
Sigiswald Kuijken and his Petite Bande has become an icon of the past and present centuries. He is one of the best violinists there is, with people as Andrew Manze and John Holloway. Have his Concerts and his Chamber Music boxes. He is at the highest quality level, with the Jeanne Lamon Tafelmusik, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the Catherine Macintosh Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment. These Orchestras, with the Kuijkens are the elite of Baroque Music. Excepting The Four Seasons, whose recording I did not like, I love almost everything the Kuijkens have recorded. Their renditions have become a quality sinonym. What he did with Leonhardt at harpsichord in the Rameau Concerts or his Bach Sonatas for violin and harpsichord are legendary renditions. I warmly recommend S Kuijken and his Petite Bande to every music lover. 🎵🎶💙🆗👍
Gosh, I really thought that was Garrison Keillor about to play the flute.
All confusion on my part aside, this is wonderful music.
Que cadência maravilhosa, virtuosa! Com o espírito de Bach! Bravíssimo!
I first heard this superb ensemble on their award winning concerti of Corelli....wonderful!
Wow
@revaliensis so true! benjamin is in Leonhardt's footsteps.LPBHQ
OK, I'll check it out. Thanks for responding. : )
Musica divina divinamente suonata!
BRAVÍSIMO!!!!!!
Wow, that was amazing. You make me love this concerto. :)
Fantastic! Very well done!
I hadn't realized that the cello da petto and the bass were figments of my imagination!
@vanni9283 Hi Vanni, Yes it's called a 'spalla' or shoulder cello, have a look on the instrument-builders blog : he's called "Badiarov Dmitry." it's very interesting, all the best LPB HQ
Magnifico
💓💓
God - they are all fit ... bach alive
Dit is wel heel overtuigend mooi gespeeld !!!!!!
great!!
Toll, danke
Wow Sheldon Cooped plays the Harpsichord. Now I known he is truly a genius
genial interpretación!
Grandios, diese japanische Band! Japan und China erleben eine herrliche Bach-Renaicense.
@palankitamas a great compliment, thanks, LPBHQ
¡BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
@redbrian3655 : we agree.. you made our day with this comment! spead the word ;o)
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
. . . an immortal wing of peace
I love La Petite Bande
But I am equally in love with their interpretation of:
Christus, der ist mein Leben BWV 95
magnifiek, allemaal
He plays the cello. Violone looks absolutely different.
Está muy cañón Barthold
@kolkrabe19 yes thanks Redbrian3655!! exactly what our channel needs! LPBHQ
non passa settimana che non l'ascolto

Bach, ein Meister dessen Werk keine Schranken kennt. Schuf jeden Ton soli Deo gloria.
Excuse me, but did I see guy playing a cello on his shoulder??
Ha ha!
Atemberaubend
West > east
The harpsichord player looks like Ben from LOST.
Such beautiful music when thet play Bach like this! Such a crime they don't get what they deserve: subventions! Minister of "culture"Schauvliege's judgment is: NOT MODERN ENOUGH! Well I don't think in terms of trendy or hipster...Then you can close down all musea where they dare to show paintings of a Brueghel, a Rubens or even a Van Gogh! I WILL SIGN THE PETITION!
I wonder why the cellist in the back couldn't just sit on the chair he is putting his cello on.
It's actually a bass violin. There were a variety of playing positions, given its large size compared to a violoncello.
Maybe he had a rash on his butt...
Right, but why not just sit on the chair?
There is actually some iconographic evidence that cello/bass violin/gamba players sometimes played that way... I'm personnally not a huge fan, it's difficult not to let the instrument slip when shifting... Also, I never really took time to find a position that would not cause pain in the back!
Stand playing.....as fit as a fiddle !
Their playing is superb, I love them but, these guys need some smiling lessons!LOL The harpsichordist looks like someone is holding a gun to his head.
Ever look Glenn Gould or Leonard Bernstein. They are concentrating for goodness sake. That's not the easiest harpsichord part to play (yes, I play harpsichord).
Yes Sir, I look at Gould and Bernstein often and am always inspired by the liveliness of their expression. Totally different, IMO.
goodboybuddy1 I didn't expect that Sheldon Cooper was a consummated harpsichordist
In a little world of his own! That is what Bacj does for/to you!
@@johnsmith-mo1yc I don't need smiling idiots to convince me if something is brilliant. The proof is in the playing and boy these guys can play.
