    People complain about the 301 hp but this V8 is not about speed but comfort. I've owned dozens of vehicles in my life, and the Lexus 4.6L V8 is hands down the most enjoyable engine I've ever had in a vehicle. It is the perfect cruising V8 for long trips and it has plenty of power for what you are wanting to do.
    Also, this motor is de-tuned quite a bit especially compared to the LS 460 version which has 386 HP, so I can tell you with personal experience you can re-chip this vehicle and get absolute gobs of power.

    Agreed. We bought a 2021 GX460 knowing it was going to be gone soon. So glad we got it before the new ones with the turbo engines. V8 just so reliable.

    Thanks for all the info & input ! I have a 2022 GX I bought new , I was on a waiting list & passed on a couple of GX’s but got lucky & got the color combination I wanted it’s in the garage with 1,200 miles on it didn’t want the last of the V8’s to get away from me. I have a 2020 GX I bought last November used with 12,000 miles on it for my every day driving and road trips . Love them both, I’m not so sure about the 2024 yet looks like a FJ not as luxurious & sporty as the outgoing model.

      100% AGREED. I have a 2017 GX 460 and do about 40,000 miles a year due to being a regional manager for my company, and I am sitting at around 290,200'ish miles on my GX. I have not had one failure but have replaced a lot of parts due to them just being warn out. The entire front end was replaced at around 220,000 miles. That was the most expensive period replacing the CV joints, sway bars, ball joints, and everything else that needed to be replaced. The rear air bag suspension and front shocks was replaced at around 150,000 so I am expecting to be doing that again by the end of the year.
      Overall, just an amazing vehicle. The starter never went bad, but at 200,000 it was recommended I replace it because of where it is located behind the engine, the labor alone is $1,000 to replace due to its positioning, so they replaced that and the headgasket and one or other two things as preventative maintenance which wasn't cheap. The alternator went out at around 250,000-ish.
      Outside of that I haven't done anything else. Oh, I run Amsoil oil and filters due to the high mileage.

      Great. Got my 2023 GX Luxury a week ago and it is a pure delight! Nothing beats a Lexus V8! Butter smooth, quiet and a comfortable ride- what else do you want out of this price range of a vehicle? The 2024 GX will be a good vehicle, but I saw all of the reviews on theV8 GX reliability and all the TH-cam videos said the same thing- reliability and comfort!

      I have owned a number of Infinitis (Nissans), and am a fan of the brand. I also own a Lexus, Mercedes, and Acura. There is nothing like a Mercedes, but for reliability NOTHING beats a Lexus.

      I own (‘23 Lexus GX & a ‘19 Tundra) and have owned many Toyota/Lexus vehicles, and I’ve owned a few Nissan/Infiniti as well, and like the Toyotas the Nissans never gave me problems, just regular maintenance items. If you need a large reliable SUV I would consider the Armada, it’s made in Japan and is practically an Infiniti QX80. I was actually considering an Armada, it’s a great value especially used because it’s not popular and depreciates a bit. Which is a shame because it’s a nice SUV with a proven V8, and I’m sure it won’t have electrical problems and break down like the ‘19 GMC Yukon Denali I had for less than 2 years. Btw I had a 22 4Runner TRD ORP w/kdss and the GX is more refined with it’s V8 and just feels more solidly built, even though they’re built in the same factory. I know it’s a Lexus vs
      Toyota, but there is a difference

    Great vehicle...no doubt. The question is whether to buy now with the last V8 or wait for the complete re-do and the V6 turbo purportedly coming out in 2024 (even if 1st or 2nd year of new build)? Wider? Wonder if the GX460 will hold resale value once new version is out.

    • @PalmerBrown
      @PalmerBrown ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The buzz I hear is that the v-8 models will hold excellent resale value. Talking to a few Lexus dealers, I am told there is a rush on the 2023 models, mostly because of the v-8.

    • @edmundcharles5278
      @edmundcharles5278 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The same choice that I had to make, but one week ago I decided to get the 2023 with the old reliable V8, the last V8 I will probably own. The V8 and 6 speed transmission is butter-smooth too. The 2024 Turbo V6 and 8/10 speed transmission will be good, but not initially perfect, no first model year vehicle ever is without flaws. The 2024 GX will have a sticker price increase and its availability for the general public will be 6 months out and with a waiting list too! Either way, make your decision and be happy with it, both 2023 and 2024 models will be good, it's just a matter of preferences, trade=offs and vehicle availability. Good luck.

    • @mauroc3374

      I've had 3 GX's to date, and still have a 2011 Ultra with only 64,000 miles, a 2013 FSport GX with 189,000 miles and both still running great. The 2011 Air Suspension just failed and ridiculous $ to repair... so going to convert it to an Overland Toy. So I've been racking my brains out and researching like mad, and just bought a new 2023 GX Premium today, and could not convince myself that the Turbo 6/10 speed 2024' will be as smooth and as reliable... I love the GX, and would like to wait a few years and see how the GX550 does and what reliability is like.... But I FEARED missing out on the last V8!... so I called every Lexus dealer in Ontario (I'm in Toronto), and tracked down 9 more coming in, and that was it! So, I picked one up... will get end of OCtober, can't WAIT! Black/Black... Excited actually. This will be my 4th GX in the family.

      Dealers will always tell you their car will hold high resale value. Resale value benefits dealers when they give you a low price for trade-in and turn around profiting thousands on your car. only those who understand the current GX 460 and those in Overlander will value it. Most will want the newest Toy on the road. Remember Toyota is promoting the new model as the off-roader that it is, so people won't remember the outgoing GX 460. Especially if the gas price stays high. @@PalmerBrown

    I love the exterior of the GX except one feature that is preventing me from buying this vehicle. The rear gate in not a lift gate, which is a huge draw back for me. Swing gate is very inconvenient. It cannot be open via remote, secondly it requires more space for open the rear gate. TBH this feature is the only thing preventing me from buying this vehicle. I like the smooth luxury ride of a Lexus as compared to other vehicles.
