I'm really having a hard time with this, it looks like you were able to add a stinger to this video much like you would add a fade transition. But from everything I can tell and all the tutorials this is something only used while streaming. I have game clips that I would like to add transitions to into one video is there a way to use my stinger for that?

I think you need a few options that have a stinger overlay that says "New Follower" or "New Subscriber"

There are only 4 stinger channels, but you can always change what is in a stinger channel.

You can use Stinger transitions for any transition in vMix.

Why only MOV file work
They're easily exported to include alpha, so you can create transitions with transparent elements needed for stingers.
