Great review! Finally a UK reviewer who understands the call of a Jeep. Yes, their reliability might be questionable in places. But they have so much character, you instantly love it
I love my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK despite its flaws on the tarmac and I always feel I 'm on an adventure whether off to the Highlands or to the supermarket. It's amazing fun driving off-road. I also had a Jeep Wrangler Sahara TJ for 15 years and I loved that Jeep too. It's an enthusiasts vehicle, like a Landrover Defender.
you get to the backseat through the PASSENGER's seat (NOT through the drivers seat as you showed)! That makes a slight difference, as it opens up more and you have more space to get in and out.
As it's 2020, can we please avoid referencing Matt on the Carbuyer videos comments section. Matt now works for another channel and people should preferably go there to talk about him.
This is the route the new Defender should of taken. True to its heritage, with utilitarian design and features that allow it to be a workhorse as intended, but keep the wannabes happy. New Defender bares no relation or intent to its original remit.
I am buying my husband one in a few months. He had a Jeep Wrangler Sahara the first year it came out. He loved it! It drove it for years but eventually he traded it in for a more "practical" vehicle. He ALWAYS regretted it and missed his Jeeping out in nature. He is so frugal and wouldn't spend the money on himself. I recently came into an inheritance and my grown kids & I are going to totally surprise him. I think he might cry. He is my hero.... he deserves this! Now... which model? 💖
Over the past 15 years I have owned only live axle front end vehicles and they have their advantages and disadvantages. My wife runs a LC 150 (Lexus LX), but we needed a TOAD so the Wrangler was one of the limited number that could be flat towed behind an RV. Ordered a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe that we haven't received yet. Apparently the Ram 2500 was not what the wife wanted to drive on vacation. Wrangler 4 door only takes us out to just under 60' of total length when towed behind the RV.
I've actually removed my back seat entirely , this vehicle isn't really meant to carry more than 1 - 2 people . And how can you say it is not comfortable? It rides so very fine. You sit high up and you know there is 4000 lbs of steel protecting you. Once you get used to driving a Jeep you never want to quit.
What about the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport? Or did you mean PERMENANT four wheel drive? Surely the entry level Wrangler is the Sport, not the Sahara (see 04.15).
Is 2 door better than 4 door? I see everyone saying they like 2 door better and I'm trying to decide between the two. I'm rarely in the car with other people and if I am it's only one other person.
Does the accelerator on the jeep feel hard?, I keep getting my friends saying that driving this car can be stressful on your foot because of its hard accelerator from what I heard
The Wrangler looks so much better as a 2 door and in my opinion should only be offered in 2 door guise. If you want 4 doors get a Cherokee, Renegade, Compass or Grand Cherokee.
WTF? The Wrangler starts at 40,000 pounds in England? That's $52,000. In the US the wrangler starts at $28,000. I thought that was a lot. Awesome off road though and fun to modify. Not the most reliable cars, but compared to a range rover a wrangler is basically a 1995 accord as far as reliability goes. Range rovers are absolute garbage
i just think its a shame to have that long bumper in front to save pedestrians and no option for steel one i know in my jeep JL Rubicon i am glad i got them i would of mangled the plastic ones on the first day
@@RealTalkwithAbhishek Thar has the same legacy as the Jeep so that is a moot point. It would have been nice if Mahindra did their own thing(in a good way) and took it to a different level. It is also good that Mahindra didn't go for their own thing as God only knows what they would have come up with. As far as copies go they just took 'inspiration' from the exterior. Wish they were so inspired with the interiors as well. I mean they couldn't even manage three seats in the rear. Says loads about their capabilities and prowess as an automobile manufacturer.
@@maserati1457 BJ40 looks good but Thar outperforms it any given day on the down and dirty. BJ40 is a good design but it is all about looks. The build quality is good, with all due respect and I emphasize the RESPECT part the most, this is what's called "out of town stupid", but you guys are excused because you don't know the brand.
I've had Jeep Wranglers for almost 20 years and they were reasonably reliable, except perhaps for rust, but I do live near the Sea and never cleaned them!
No wonder Jeep is surpassing everyone in the 4x4 line up. Land Rover murdered the Defender and now you can't distinguish it from the city focused Discovery. Toyota made the Land Cruiser basically a super luxury yatch that only the super rich can afford. G-Wagon is pretty good, and you also need to rob a bank to buy one, but its a Mercedes so its understandable, not so much for Toyota. With so many nanny state regulations and emission control, classic 4x4 are going away in our life times. Mark my words
We indians are waiting to convert new mahindra thar to this vehicle looking shape...only minimum modifications are required. New vehicle + modifications = total cost below 15 lakhs indian rupees only 😛.
. . . .and the NCAP safety rating is?? ....... from what I seen on other car review sites - its dreadful. Worth noting because if its a family car it is or will be a consideration.
What are you talking about? You are so very wrong . Here in Canada the Wrangler has one of the highest safety rating . I pay one of the lowest insurance for owning a Wrangler. It is 4000 lbs of steel and you don't want to come in contact with this locomotive on the road .
Never thought I'd say this but I think this is now a better package than a defender
Defender died with their last model.
Oozes character
Basic and simple exterior. No big grill and trying to make it luxurious. I like that

Stone Marten I agree! It’s an emotional attachment, rather than just a machine
Great looking new Jeep Wrangler, capable and comfortable, just shame about the sky high cost.

I agree, this Jeep Wrangler JL is a fine evolution of the icon, rather than the revolution of the new Defender.
LR should have used the Disco 4 chassis and running gear and put a more basic and lightweight body on it.
Absolutely agree.
New defender, too similar to a Disco and Range Rover.

As an American it's weird to see a 2 door Sahara Wrangler as in the US it's only available on the 4 door Unlimited models
In the US they have 2-door too. I live in the US, don’t brag about your false knowledge.

When was this filmed? Batch is in shorts and with our current weather he wouldn't be in those!
He also just mentioned Ginny, what's happened to her?

Probably filmed summer-autumn 2019 ;)

Excellent review. Nice one Mr Reviewer :)
So this thing that you will take to middle of nowhere has an Alfa Romeo engine, does that work out?
At 4:22 Please can you explain how this is 'permanent four when drive' when it defaults to 2WD and needs to be manually selected into 4WD? Thanks
I thought that the Sahara didn’t come in the 2 door option! Wow
Not in the US
It USED to. Originally it was only 2 doors. It was introduced like in the 80's.
You missed from the list the Lada Niva and the UAZ 463
6:35 "If you need more space you go for the four door Wrangler." No. I would just get a trailer to pull my stuff. :>)

And the Mahindra
The forward passenger seat slides farther forward to allow easier access to the rear seats. FYI

James Pike both☺️
