      I hope so. they need so much more funding because it is so inefficient and outdated, and expensive to take. all of that puts me off taking amtrak even when it would be the best option

      @realestateunplugged6129 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amtrack runs in the red and is a pile of crap, operated by the communist anti American "government". Thats why it's garbage. Private business has to actually SERVE people to receive money that is rational market priced.

    • @fl0pZ3
      @fl0pZ3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@realestateunplugged6129 I agree that there should be more privatization with rail because it would push for more innovation and higher quality, but that's ridiculous. The reason why it's bad is because the government is completely underinvesting in trains and rail infrastructure. Keep in mind that on average the government spends 52.5 billion per year on roads and bridges, and they don't make any money (besides toll money which barely covers anything). But I definitely think privatization is the best option because the government won't get anything done.

      @@fl0pZ3 Oh yeah, look at California's "high speed rail". Billions pocketed by government con artists and zero service provided to the citizens for our tax dollars. Brightline's a good start but it's got a long way to go to catch up with high speed rail in Europe and China.

    • @quickclipsbyjmj
      @quickclipsbyjmj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It's better than what's on offer to the UK population. Trains were invented in England - home to one of the world's worst rail services.

    • @gojeda
      @gojeda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      High speed rail in Europe generally does not have at-grade crossing like Brightline does. That is why Europe can have high speeds on their network, and that is why the Northeast Corridor regularly does 125 mph and above.
      It should also be noted that Brightline sections north of West Palm Beach to Orlando will have sections where the train will do 125 mph.

    • @John_259
      @John_259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@gojeda Agreed. Also, high speed rail uses dedicated track not shared with freight traffic, and the locomotives draw electric power from catenaries, not diesel power.

      @@luislaplume8261 It's not that bad. We do have high speed 1 from London to the channel tunnel, that rides at 186 mph but can go to 200 mph if needed. High speed 2 is currently being built to Birmingham and Manchester and that will be 225 mph. The existing East coast, West coast and Great Western to Bristol routes are 125 mph. There are plans to increase these speeds to 140 mph.There has been a lack of investment since 1945 but we are now slowly catching up.

    By the way, in the US, by Federal Rail Administration regulations, you are never going to see speeds beyond 79 MPH on rail segments that have at-grade crossings in urban and suburban areas.
    I do commend Brightline for trying, and I pray they succeed. Their pricing, however, needs to come down by a good 30 to 40%

    • @janefelix3821
      @janefelix3821 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Chris67 It depends on the population density and the distances between crossings. A lot of the areas this train travels through are built up so it would be dangerous to run at high speeds.

    I had my first trip last night from Miami-West Palm Beach-Miami. The train is beautiful, and clean, with modern bathrooms, lobby, and public spaces. I bought the SMART ticket and I felt the service was fine. The only issue I had was that I bought a round-trip ticket with parking included. When you enter the garage you will find a machine where you scan your ticket and the gate opens. Well, the machine did not work and I had to take a ticket. Fortunately, when I was going out I pressed the assistance button and a person opened the gate remotely for me. The Brightline parking garage in Miami is one block away from the main building, and at night there are some homeless people in the area : (
    The rest of the experience was great!

    Very modern looking, liked the station also, but the train travels 57 mph approximately, this is not a comparable train, as the ones in Europe. It's slow like any other ordinary train service.

    • @evanb.529
      @evanb.529 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This true for now, especially due to the many grade crossings. When the line opens to Orlando, it will reach speeds around 125 mph, putting it much closer to a high-speed service, albeit still not comparable with the true high speed lines in Europe and Asia.

    • @RedNuii
      @RedNuii 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evanb.529 They are trying to push it to 135, we'll see how that goes. But much more important is the average speed of the train, and in this case Brightlines average from Miami to Orlando is actually quite high which is good. It cuts travel time by about an hour with a much better experience.

    • @Ven100
      @Ven100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The train currently tops out at 79MPH. North of West Palm Beach 110 MPH and 125 MPH north of Cocoa. This is definitely comparable to European trains like the 125 MPH British Rail Class Pendolino 390, 125 MPH Hitachi 800/801, 125 MPH Lumo 803. 125 MPH Swedish Bombardier Regina. Not every train in Europe is going 186+ MPH.

    Here’s a fun fact about this train. Since it opened in late 2017 there’s been 55 deaths on this exact same route. Miami to West Palm Beach. That’s right, 55 and counting. Imagine what the count will be when the Orlando connection in complete. Notice how empty the train was in this video and that’s because locals are well aware of the danger this train poses. Also, if you live in Florida you own a car and everyone down here knows depending on the time of day you’ll make the same trip in 20 minutes less time. So the millions of local tax payer dollars was used on a useless slow train that kills and nobody uses anyway. 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @scottnichols3685
      @scottnichols3685 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those deaths occurred because people don’t have the good sense to stay off/away from the tracks or because they tried to cross as a train is approaching. It’s Darwinism at work.

    I live on the Treasure Coast near Stuart. We fought this travesty as hard as we could. It’s going to run on the old FEC tracks that were put down by Henry Flagler in the 1800’s. Small towns grew up around the tracks when trains were slower and were the only transportation. Now they will fly through our little towns going 80 mph. They will cross more than 300 grade crossings on the Treasure Coast, causing traffic tie-ups and safety risks. They will stop marine traffic around our bridges. They should have built new tracks up the center of the state where the cows wouldn’t care how fast they went. This is a terrible idea. Everyone here dreads the coming of Brightline.
